Kalamaki Beach Hotel(Hotels in Kalamaki) |
| 9/10 | |
JUST RETURNED FROM A 2 WEEK STAY HERE AT THE KALAMAKI BEACH HOTEL. THE HOTEL IS CLEAN AND WELL MAINTAINED IN EXTENSIVE GARDENS WITH A LARGE POOL AREA AND SNACK BAR. THE STAFF ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL, ESPECIALLY RIA AND SOFIA ON RECEPTION.
ROOMS ARE GENERAL GREEK ROOMS WITH TV AND PHONE AND FRIDGE. HOWEVER SHOWER DOES HAVE THE ADDED BONUS OF A CURTAIN WHICH DOES STOP SOME OF THE WATER FROM FLOODING THE BATHROOM
ATTACHED BEACHSIDE TAVERNA IS VERY GOOD..SERVING INEXPENSIVE SNAX AND IS AN IDEAL SPOT TO WATCH THE WORLD GO BY WITH SEVERAL DRINKIES . COUPLE OF MINUS POINTS BUT NOTHING MAJOR..IS A BIT OF A WAY FROM MAIN STRIP IF YOU HAD WALKING DIFFICULTIES..ABOUT 10 MINS IF YOU TOOK THE SHORT CUT PAST THE PELOUZO AND THE AMYRILLIS..ALTHO THERE IS A TAXI RANK MORE OR LESS OUTSIDE
..AND THE COCKTAIL BAR IN THE GROUNDS..ALTHO VERY NICE THE BARMAID WASN'T KEEN ON HANGING AROUND OF AN EVENING SAY IF YOU TURNED UP ABOUT HALF 12 AFTER DINING OUT ETC WANTING ONE FOR THE ROAD..COZ SHE WAS VERY STRICT ON CLOSING TIMES AND WOULD SERVE YOU THE DRINKS BUT WITH A TIME LIMIT ON HOW LONG YOU COULD STAY TO DRINK IT!!! GUESS SHE HAD A DAY JOB AS WELL..BUT IF THERE ARE CUSTOMERS STILL TO SERVE..THOUGHT THEY WERE MEANT TO STAY UNTIL YOU DID..OR AM I WRONG? STILL ITHEY ARE ONLY MINOR ISSUES AND DID NT SPOIL OUR STAY HERE! WOULD I RECOMMEND IT TO A FRIEND?...DEFINITELY. JOOLZ

Hi, we stayed there last year. Positives:Good location
Beach very close
Large Rooms
Nice views from balcony
Nice tarverna on the front
Good pool
Lots of sunbeds
Air con and fridge in room, not sure if you have to pay for them
Good pool bar and staff
Negatives:
Bathroom floods when getting shower, not to much of a problem
Maid : a few clothes left on chair by us she refused to clean our room because of this, therefore we had dirty towels etc. Before she refused to clean our room she left big clumps of black hair on our bed ( not ours were blonde)
We couldnt open our door without diffaculty, had to get drunken man from behind reception to open it for us.

A few people have mentioned aircraft noise, however i imagine were ever you stay in kalamaki you will hear noise. Didnt bother us as they dont run at night infact its quite fun watching them from round the pool.
Other than a few nagatives had a really good time and would definatly come back again.

| I am going to this hotel in 2 weeks time with my husband and newly married son and his wife. Have read mixed reviews. Has anyone been this year to give any reports (good or bad)? I have heard they start shooting to clear birds from the runway at 4.00 am. Is this true? I am just hoping the good ones are more accurate than the bad ones (reviews that is). |

| Louise, sorry but i have stayed at both kalamaki and crystal beach, and kalamaki wins hands down everytime, there are closer hotels to the airport and being such a small island yur bound to hear the planes where ever you are in kalamaki but its not like they are running 24/7. Both hotels are a small walk from the "best restaurants" crystal is probably further away than kalamaki. Im sure if u stayed u wud ov found the hotel staff extremly friendly, the beach and pool are also gr8. shame yur experience at kalamaki cudnt have been nicer, they have really worked hard improving that hotel. | ||||||||||

We booked to stay here but didn't!!! Nobody mentions anywhere that this hotel is situated at the end of the runway so aircraft noise is a horrendous problem. When we arrived, our room was not ready. Having waited well over an hour, we were repeatedly ignored by reception staff whilst they ushered Greek guests to their rooms (which miraculously were ready!!). Finally we had enough and moved off the the Crystal Beach where we were made to feel welcome, a room was ready right away and we didn't have to examine the undercarriages of jet aircraft on a regular basis. The hotel is also a good way from all the best restaurants and the road to and from it is unlit and dangerous at night. Our advice is to avoid the Kalamaki Beach at all costs!!

Returned from another excellent stay at this gorgeous family run hotel. Wish we were all back there now. To anyone wanting a lovely clean hotel, close to the beach, within easy walking distance of taverna's & bars then this is the place for you to stay. Check out their website www.kalamakibeach.com
The staff were again wonderful, wish we were there now! But we will be back soon. Hope you all have a good summer.

| You were right girls the hotel looks fab this year, landed back yesterday had a great time with my partner and little girl. Needs more british there to liven the place up a little, alot more quiet than the last 2 years weve been, but still enjoyed ourselves. Look forward in returning next year. | ||||||||||

| Didn't actually stay in this place but my ladyfriend and I stumbled across it during a late night stroll on the beach. Lost, the owner couldnt have been more friendly in making sure we got our wet, scruffy hides out of the place! Seriously though, we both agreed that the place looked the absolute dogs bollocks. the reception area was impeccable and the pool and the surrounding gardens were top-notch. Its also right on the beach. A beach that makes the one in Laganas cry out with envy. Anyone going here should be happy as hell. | ||||||||||
