I have heard that there is a new water park on Zakynthos, does anyone have any info. on this please.
Has anyone been to the new water park on Zante? we are off soon, and I know the kids would love it,also does anyone know if Kalamaki has changed much since May 2003? (new bars, restaurants etc.)
What can I say, I for once am speechless. I have just returned from two wonderful weeks at Kalamaki Beach Hotel with my husband and two boy, and my sister. We were lucky enough last year to really get to know the family there,we had been four times previous to that.
When we arrived this year we could not believe how this hotel has been transformed. The rooms have been completely refurbished, and decorated. The lounge area is like what you would expect to find in a luxury hotel. It is stunning, the rooms are still basic, but as many of you know, many Greek properties are like this.
It is just a shame that at the moment there is no English company for any of you Brits to share the warmth and wonderful greek hospitality that awaits you here.
We have never had a bad stay here, and we wish Takis, Nikos, Dimitris and all the family and staff a prosperous season, we are sure it will pick up for you all, as you all deserve it, and we can't wait to see you all in October.
Dias is definately worth a visit, if not a few.
The food is excellant, service is great, and the waitress is hot! so my boys tell me.
It is good value for money, and we will be back in October.
This one is not to be missed.Even though it is a bit off the beaten track.
Dennis and the boys are wonderful, especially the very young one, although watch out for that special pen, when signing your credit card slip!!
My husband and boys loved the hotpot that was on the menu a couple years ago, they were disappointed this year to find it wasn't on, so like last year Dennis had some ready the next night when we went back.
The lamb kleftiko is gorgeous, as is the lamb kampama, and souvlaki.
Look forward to seeing you all in October, have the hotpot ready!!
This is lovely, although my husband got served the wrong meal, and didn't enjoy it too much, as it was completely different to what he ordered. But in all fairness they did volunteer to change it, but my husband isn't a pain like that, so he did eat it!
Our meal was lovely, the chicken with barbecue sauce is lovely, also the one with chilli sauce.
We were pleasantly surprised, last year we didn't enjoy our meal that much, but decided to give them another chance this year. We are glad we did.
The soup is wonderful, and the stuffed pepper starter is gorgeous.
The portions are ample if not, a bit too much. We are just sorry we didn't have another week or two to go back again.
Another visit to Zakynthos truly memorable by a meal here.
The Lamb Klefitko is a must. BUT, only if you are very hungry, as my sister found out, also the chicken souvlaki with bacon is good.
The position of this taverna with views out to sea make it even better.
What a wonderful way to relax, the atmosphere of this bar is wonderful, and the views from the turret are a must, especially if you can catch the sunset.
My husband and eldest son spent many a night or early evening here watching the "footy". It was just like being at home, and being a "footy widow".
But it gave the rest of us a chance to shop, and kept the boys happy!!
Agreat bar to visit if you have kids, and don't mind spending a bit to keep them happy and quiet! They have a pool table and computers, also internet access if you can't live without your computer.
The bar staff are friendly and it's a good place to relax and watch the world go by, with a mouth watering cocktail.
Kalamaki is the best resort if you want a chilling out holiday. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars to choose from, also enough shops to keep you busy. We noticed that since last May it has grown even more, but hopefully it won't be the same as Laganas which we feel is now even more geared up for the 18-30's. We can't wait until October for our next trip, even if a lot of places are closing we know we will still have a great time.
Zakynthos town is a nice way to spend a couple of hours, the harbour is pretty, the shops are good. Don't fall for the beggars on the streets, they are not as bad or hard up as they like you to belive.
It gets very busy here and very hot, it is maybe best to go earlier in the day, also shops will shut in the afternoon for their siesta.
Kalamaki beach is lovely, especially early in the morning or early evening, when you can spot more turtles splashing around.
Also if you walk or swim out you may be lucky enough like us to spot the turtles close up. The taverna on the beach offers great food and friendly service.
Caroline, when we were there in May, the hotel wasn't sure about the operators that would use the hotel, but if you go to www.kalamakibeach.com you would be able to book direct with them & just arrange your flights over there. Hope this helps you and if you manage this you are guaranteed an excellant time, with a wonderful family, we are back out in October, can't wait.
Meant to say that everything was excellant, not average!!
I just wondered if anyone knows when this wonderful taverna closes for the winter season,Many thanks
HAS ANYONE BOOKED DIRECT RECENTLY, AND DO YOU HAVE TO PAY A DEPOSIT?
We returned from Zakynthos on June 16th, and wish we were back there now for a meal at Mikaelos. It is without a doubt the best in Kalamaki, and quite possibly the best in Zakynthos. We visit several times a year, and this is always our first & last meal on the island.
Returned from another excellent stay at this gorgeous family run hotel.
This taverna is a must for a snack or a big meal! Or maybe just a long cold drink watching the planes coming in.
Could anyone tell me if any U.K tour ops. have package deals to these apartments? Many thanks.
