Accommodation in Kalamaki

Denise W

Hi Lisa,

cant remember our room no, it was on the first floor from the pool bar on the right hand side with a rather large tree in front of it.Our apt was two Bedrooms one double bed and two singles, small kitchen area very basic and old fashioned but plenty of space...we had doors onto the balcony from both bedrooms very spacious. Our son had a two bedded studio just down a few steps from us it was very nice and more modern but he had no balcony only his front entrance with a table and couple of chairs but it did get the sun. What did you think of the Greek Night..we had a ball, needless to say we were all rather legless at the end of the night,Gregg was even taking my husband and son shots up to the room!!yes we did suffer in the morning and will know better next year.....maybe.All in all we had a great time and looking forward to next year already

Denise W

Hi Lisa,

we cant remember what our room no was,we had a two bedroom apartment on the first floor it overlooked the pool facing straight on to the main road, ours was very old fashioned, basic but ok plenty of space...our son had his own studio which seemed to be pretty new but he had no private balcony just the front entrance...we had a fab balcony with doors from both bedrooms, from the poolbar it was on your right hand side it had the big palm sort of tree in front of it.We really enjoyed it and have booked to go again next July, what did you think of the Greek night we had an absolute Ball needless to say we were all rather legless by the end of the night,Gregg was even bringing shots up to the room...yes we did all suffer the next day!!!

Lisa M

Denise,

Our appts were good! 2 room, room 38! We had a big enough balcony with table and chairs! There was 5 of us in the 2 room! " in 1 room and 3 in the other!

John C

hi everyone, hope u keeping that mythos cold greg, coming out in september cant wait too see u all again

Denise W

Thanks Lisa,

asked Gregg when we were there if they were for this year as we were there in sept he said he didnt know...just thought this might have been an added luxury not mentioned in brochure....not that i am fussy about tv on holiday just wondering.....what was your apt like?

Lisa M

Denise when we were there in June the televisions in 2 bed appts still had the plastic wrap around them!

Jayne T

Just returned from Zante and Sirene Apartments. Had a lovely time and would recommend Kalamaki and these apartments even though they are a little out of the way. Greg and staff were very friendly and there was a great atmosphere. Appartments were clean albeit basic. Take a kettle and some loo roll. Don't book any trips through the reps, they are very expensive compared to local tour operators.
Anybody planning a visit please take a tin of ambrosia custard for the girl in the shop nextdoor.

Denise W

we were at the sirene last year and we had an upper apartment that faced directly on pool and main road it was a two bedroom...next door was a three bedroom has anyone got any info on this apartment and what it was like?the last one we were in had a new tv on the wall but not connected, thought they might have been updating the place for this year, any info appreciated

Roger M

does anyone have any pictures of the studio apts i stayed in a 2 bedroom apt last time

Lisa M

Is michealos on the map (not sure of the spelling)? That is the road they are on, they are about 5mins further up it though, on the direction towards zante town!

Hope this helps x

Gill W

Hi there, can anyone tell me where the apartments are in Kalamaki. I know they are on the outskirts, but which direction is that! I have a map showing me where the main hotels and restaurants are, so in relation to any of them would be great! Thanks

Bekki W

Lisa M

I stayed in Sirene Apartments from june 16th to june 23rd.  It was my first time in Zante,  I went with my best friend and her family and they mates, there was 12 of us all together.  it was my best holiday ever.  the rooms are clean, the pool area is nice, and the staff. well gregorie and his wife are really nice, and the chef nora is really nice too,    ive just booked another holiday in september for 2 weeks to zante again and i cant wait!

Lisa M

Sirene Appartments were great, the location was a little far out, but taxis were cheap and the walk to Kalamaki was quite nice.

The people there were really friendly, with children all ages. The owners were lovely too and always there to help if u needed it!

I agree some of the comments were really harsh, the appartments, were cleaned on a regular basis, the pool are was great and big enough.

We met loads of nice people there boys and girls and would return any day! We all want to go back now!

Lisa M

Rebecca i was there from those dates also! where uz the 1's with the little girl Elle? Who had to go to a hotel for the last day?

Ian C

hi julie nice to hear from you have a great time see you soon

Rebecca B

Stayed at the Sirene between 16th June 2005 and 1st July 2005 in a group of 6 adults and 4 children (baby aged 11 months)
Was a little worried after reading some of the comments on here but on arrival we found all our rooms to be perfectly clean and of a standard you would expect of a self catering holiday in Greece.
The pool and bar area were very clean. Greg and his wife were very helpful and friendly and there was a great atmosphere at the pool.
Although it is a 20 minute walk to the town there are shops, bars and restaurants on the way. Taxis were also very cheap and easy to find.
We werent bothered by the noise from the cockrels although if you were awake you could hear them but they didnt wake you up. The food offered at the hotel was excellent, a nice variety at very reasonable prices. Breakfast for between 1.50 - 6 euros. Lunch snacks form 1.50 for chips. We never actually stayed for an evening meal except for greek night but there is a good selection of meals available.
Would recommend Rainbows and Milos for food .
Although the Sirene is a little out of the town it is still an excellent place to stay and does not deserve the previous comments, a holiday is what you make it and if people want luxury book into a 5 star hotel instead of selfcatering.

Julie P

hi ian, we go to sirene on 21st july for 2 weeks, 7 of us going,

really looking forward to it so well see you there.

Ian C

Thanks lee, only 5 days now!

Lee D

Hi Lisa, a torch would be usefull, much of the road has adequate light but there are a few darker areas and the road does have a ditch at the side of it so if you`ve got one I would take it. Hope you have a great holiday I wish I was just going again.

Lisa M

Lee would u recomend taking a torch with us for coming back at night?

Lisa x

Lee D

Me and the family came back from the Sirene last Thursday after having a great holiday (also our first time to Zante) I was a little nervous after reading some of the comments on here so for those who are going and dont know what to expect here are my thoughts: The pool area and grounds of the hotel were kept in brilliant condition, the pool itself was spotless, the rooms are very basic but clean, although not great for cooking in as they have poor appliances, noise wise there is some traffic noise and some barking dogs at times but after a few bottles of mythos you dont notice it. As for places to eat, well your spoiled for choice, for breakfast I would say Lillydots is the best (just after the rainbow) it has an english owners who are very friendly and a good calling point on the way back from town with pool and games for the kids and for other meals I would say mermaids where they do kids meals for less than 1 euro and they`re big enough for adults to eat, however we did try other places and all were great. On the side of caution it is a fair walk into town and  beech along a fairly busy road so make sure you keep to the sides as cars, buses and bikes go past at fairly high speeds.

Stephanie

Is any1 going to Sirene between 16th - 30th of June??? Iam! wooo

Amy Y

Hi me and my family stayed in the sirene apartments and it was great. pool was clean and there was plenty of sun loungers. If you are worried about the distance to the beach dont be. its a relaxing walk along a straight road it take about 20 mins. lots of bars and restraunts to choose from (try the cave bar) The staff are very freindly(Greg was always willing to talk to my dad) There is a rare turtle that nests on kalamaki beach. An all great family holiday that i would recommend to any one and i am only age 14

Julie P

DONT beleive all that you hear! weve been to sirene 9 times in the past 5 years and are going again in may 05. we love it, the kids love it. you will always get one victor meldrew on any holiday who wants to complain. we personally have not had problems at sirene and anyone who has will find gregs always on hand to help. TRY IT!  see you in may greg.

Edward W

Appartments scruffy and not cleaned very well, toilet smelt etc!
Only good part was the bar down the road, "Aldos" if you ever decide to go, say hi to Eric (the bar man) and Parish (the owner) from Edward
Cheers

Julian A

just got back on thursday were out in july and went back for a week october excellent on both occasions, greg and his wife liri made us welcome as we walked in and the first beer was on them before we even had a room allocated. got to try some where else next year but are definately going back with the kids in two years, cleanliness good, location good although a little out of the way food and amenities good all in all a great week away from it all thanks again greg and liri.

Joanne B

The sirene hotel is absolutely brilliant. I have put 6 picture on this website as there are no others anywhere on the internet!!! The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help you, even the cleaners who didn't speak very good english! The rooms are very basic (but what else do you expect of greece) but they are very clean. Maid service is every other day and if you dont want maid service on any day, just let them know. Before we arrived here, we had read some of the reports and from those reports nearly changed our booking, i am so glad we did NOT. Greg and his wife were lovely and would talk to you all night if you wanted to. The food in the hotel is spot on! When we were there we didn't really venture out that much to try other places to eat as the food here was the best of all the places we did go (and the very best value for money!) The beach is a bit of a hike, especially if you have a young family who hate walking, about 20 - 30 mins walk, depending on how fast you walk. There are no hills on way to the beach it is just a long flat road with plenty of shops and bars on route. If you do come to these apartments, try the Greek Barbecue night, lots of food, wine and dancing. It was a wonderful experience and the kids loved it.There is a little bit of noise from the local animals, but no way is it as bad as some people have said it is, and after a few bevvies you wouldn't hear it anyway. It was a wonderful holiday and the kids loved it. We have only been home 2 weeks, and I have just booked to go back there again..........see you soon Greg

Julian A

is greg manageing to keep the mythos cold and the ouzo free as we are going out for a week on thursday, can,t wait.

Martin J

just got back from staying at the sirene apartments. all i can say is don't read too much into other peoples comments. go out there and see for yourself. we were getting quite worried by the other peoples comments but i can assure you that there is nothing to worry about. the apartments are basic but clean and are cleaned on a regular basis. there is some road noise but then the majority of apartments/hotels are by the roadside so you are going to get this where ever you stay. the walk to the town/beach was never a concern - we walked to the beach every day and then again to the town in the evening (about 20 mins at a stroll and there are bars/shops along the way). the noise from surrounding animals was never a real concern either (again they are everywhere - not just sat outside sirene)have a few beers and you wont even hear them! just go out there and enjoy yourself rather than trying to find things to whinge about!!

Heather G

We had 2 weeks in the sirene apartments over the summer holiday and we had a good they put us in the 3 bedroom apartment it was massive and had plenty of room didn't use the kitchen i would advise people to bring their own kettle as we made that mistake. Anyway the management were really friendly and they did a cracking barbecue and they did a really good greek dance but got to say i had a few sleepless night cause of the traffic noise the road is on of the main road that connect kalamaki to zante town and can get really noisy so beware overall i enjoyed my stay their but wouldn't go back as it too far from the beach and the town and the best resturant on the island has to be the mermaid in kalamaki great food!!!!!!!

Annie B

Well I have literally just come back from a 7 day holiday to Kalamaki, Zante, (yesterday) and it was great. The people are very friendly and the food was excellent. Well what can I say about the Sirene Apartments, as some have already said, they are very basic and if you are used to going self-catering, this is self-catering with a 'difference' as there are not that much utilities. Whilst the apartment in itself was ok, I would not stay there again. I believe the brochure fabricated the details a little bit and the picture they show of the pool etc, does not show it quite accurately. We did not have much dealings with Gregory, but he was always polite when we passed through reception. Thanks for all those comments about taking a torch, because I did and it came in very handy for those walks back at night, dodging the car & bikes etc. (also take a kettle).

By far the best restaurant on the island is Michaelos, which we visited 3 times. Great value & excellent food & friendly staff who make you feel really welcome. Also Mermaids Restaurant is a really good place to eat.

Anyway, a holiday is what you make it, so if you find the Sirene Apartments, suits you then each to there own.

Denise W

well i am in kalamaki at the moment and yes the sirene is a bit out of the way but i have timed our family walking to the start of the village as i will call it and it takes 10 minutes at a steady pace and 20 to the beach the apartments are spacious but basic but what do we want in a foreign country 5 star ....well if thats what you want go to london and pay the price.i cant comment on the past comments but i did say i would lrt you know how i got on and i am having a fab time a holiday is what you make it..yes i have heard dogs and cockrels but not to the point that it drives you mad and you want to move, once i am sleeping i dont hear a thing and i am quite a light sleeper..come try it for yourself.the managers of this place will do what they can to help you if there are any problems.our rep rachael is great what more can i say........YAMAS

Sharon W

hi all....i av booked to go to the sirene apartments for august 2005 been to kalamaki b4 and loved it not bothered about the aircraft noise my 2 kids loved seein the planes land and take off but i is a bit worried about the apartments some comments are quite disturbing i know everyones taste is different but if someone could give me an insight id be grateful....

Robert A

We went to Zakynthos and stayed in the Sirene apartments for two weeks from the 26th August to the 9th September and we had a fantastic time! Our rooms were spotless and got cleaned everyother day, and got given clean sheets and towels. During our two week stay we never heard any noise. It was very children friendly which was great for our four children, who all had a great time! We never saw any rats or anything like that. Greg and his wife were very helpful, and if you needed anything they were always happy to help. Our rep Rachel was brilliant and on Tuesdays go down to the 'Grabarna Grus' because it's a great night out for all the family! (which your rep will tell you about) Michealos is a great place to eat for all the family and the food at the apartments was really good too! Faulty towers is good for drinks, so pop in! We would definately go back again!

Denise W

Well i am off to the sirene on thursday cant wait, not going to let the past comments put me off,i am sure one persons bad holiday is another persons good one, life would be boring if we all thought the same..........will let you all know how much i enjoyed it when i return

Callaby

Arrived back last night from a two week stay here, a stay I would NEVER repeat! I have been sleep deprived, those who state the animal noise is minimal are clearly hard of hearing between the dogs and cockrels, there is the bin men, mopeds, buses and not to mention the wild children!
We had a brilliant holiday and Zante itself is gorgeous however our stay at the Sirene was far from enjoyable. On arrival we were met with filthy rooms, clearly they had not been cleaned before our arrival, the bathroom was covered in hair, sand and faecal matter. The floor was so dirty it made your feet black walking from the front door to the wardrobe (about 10 steps). The bed linen was torn and stained. The wardrobe was broken and unusable. The self catering aka suicude unit ontop of the counter next to the sink had exposed wires and after reciving a nasty electric shock remained unused for the duration of the stay.
Greg was unfriendly and not helpful in making alterations and reduced the rep to tears on asking him to help sort out not just ours but other guests rooms with problems.
The pool, a postage stamp compared to the picture in the brochure was dirty and his idea of cleaning it was to pour a bowlful of chlorine into it each night, we were the only family not to use the pool and the only family not to have diarrhoea and vommiting during our holiday, on one occasion he even swept a childs sick into the pool!! By the end of the first week the pool was deserted and the queue to the complaints book the length of the dining area!
The location stated in the Manos brochure was completely fabricated and thank goodness for Michaelos the best restaurant in Kalamaki else we would have had to trek over 20mins before food!
We would definately return to Zante, but not to the Sirene. I would recommend the Rainbow, the guests at the Sirene all used that pool, which was much nicer and had ample sunbeds.
Good luck to anyone who is staying at the Sirene, rather you than me!

Mal H

Sirene. - Cockerels, Barking Dogs, Speeding Quads and boy racers.
Room 22, this will give you a grandstand view of the very busy, 24hr road directly outside the complex. It has been rumoured that the S.A.S. use room 22 for sleep deprivation exercises. If you can sleep through all the above, the early morning dustbinmen will soon drag you back from the land of nodd. The binmen can call anytime between 03:00am and 05:ooam their flashing Orange lights turn room 22 into an instant disco.
The main currency in the Sirene is toilet paper. Its a very rare commodity. TOP TIP- The supermarket annexed to the appartment has a wide selection of toilet paper. You can buy in bulk, keep some for personnal use and exchange the excess at the bar for drinks.
A 72 sheet roll will get you a bottle of Mythos, whilst a 54 padded luxury roll in pink will get you a large Baileys.
Please note-Taxi drivers do not accept Toilet paper as currency.
Eating out- There's a restaurant we found halfway between Laganas and Keri. Great food, reasonable prices, the good bit is, you can phone them from the appartment, they'll come and pick you up and take you back in their minibus. ask Gregg at the bar he knows about it.
Meanwhile the restaurants at Kalamaki are generally very good- Michaelos and Artemis are recommended.
Walking down to the bars at night is an expedition. poor road lighting
and no pavements make for a dangerous trip especially for younf families.
The staff at the appartments and shop are all great- very welcoming and helpful.
Try not to make a mess in the appartment as there is only one dustpan and brush to service the whole complex. If you manage to get your hands on it you can exchange it at the shop for 25 economy, white toilet rolls.

Julian A

15 min walk to lively town 25 to the crystalbeach ideal for kids, nice pool, friendly service.walk during the day get taxi at night min charge is 5euros although its only 6 to laganas and 8 to zante town just got back where it was 31 degrees at 1am but booked to go again in october greg and mary are great and very helpful, have snacks at the apartments but eat out as there is not much selection Michealos and Mermaids are pretty good and the local beer isstrong and cheap.

Ginni

the apartments wer not cleaned properly all the bars in the town wer about 30-40 min walk dogs an cockerels keep u awake they hav at least 1 power cut a week the whole apartment block had no water hot or cold not enuff sunbeds an they r 2 near the ( NOT VERY BIG POOL )which has broken plates in the bottom from greek nites could think or more 2 say but think i will leave it at the the only good thing there wer the english ppl an i would like 2 say a big thanku all 4 all the help an support u gav me rob an sarah wen i got pushed of the motorbike by those greek ppl so thanks again

Bekki W

I have already stayed at Sirene Apartments three times before, i have to admit that the 1st time was the best, mainly because of the people we met, but the other two times are still classed as the best holiday ever. The place is beautiful, even with the change over of the shop and bar. The people who work there are the best people you will ever meet while your away they are so friendly and helpful! And Gregs kids have to be the cutest!!
Going back 2 Sirene nxt year on the 30th of June 4 our first girls holiday away, so Zante look out!!!!!

Stephen P

Hi This place is fantastic, ok there is a bit of noise from the animals in the early hours, but you have to be the lightest sleeper in the world for it to effect you every night.
Greg and his wife cannot do enough for you. it is about 600 metres from the pub etc but it does say this in the brouchure
If you do go there say a big hell to greg from big steve
The boy racers are every were so dont let the negative comments put you off. Book to go there and enjoy greece hospitality at its best

Angel H

To anyonewho has just returned...just wondering what the weather is like fly out next wednesday...

Julianne H

We've just returned from staying at Serene, and whilst we loved Kalamaki and intend to return next year it won't be at the Sirene. The location is a little out of the way, it's only merit is that it's close to Michelo's which is one of the best restaurants in Kalamaki. Gregory and his staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you, but the fact remains that it was incredibly noisy at night. We went to Athens on an overnight trip just to get a decent night's sleep! If you don't mind paper-thin walls between apartments, the local lads using the road outside as a drag racing strip all night, trying to sleep in a menagerie of (loud and varied) animal noises, and you don't mind loud music and fellow guests making a hell of a racket in the bar till God knows when........well then it's the perfect place for you. However if you like a bit of peace and quiet at night I'd suggest going elsewhere. On our last day we did a bit of a recce with this in mind and we're seriously looking at Daisy, Meandros, Klelia and the best of the bunch - but more expensive is the Crystal Beach.

Garry M

our family enjoyed two weeks in the sirene apts.Nice place to spend the days beside lovely pool, food at the hotel superb always well cooked and vey hot {good price} Greg and his wife always very friendly and ready to help, both always had time for our children.Apartments basic but clean...be sure to take your own kettle !! Only thing at night animals and dog's next door very noisy, not to mention boy racers through the night.Be prepared for early call from several local cockrels !

Lloyd W

Sarah H

We stayed here after being moved from the liaros cos of being burgled, fantastic place, good for kids. Greg was absolutely brilliant and prices in the bar were good too. Would go back again
Thanks Greg

Wendy C

we have just returned from our 2 week honeymoon, and stayed at the sirene apartments, although the rooms were basic they were still traditional in style i mean you only need somewhere to sleep, shower and s**t. Unless of course you want to spend your whole 2 weeks dossing by the pool and bar like most of the people there did. whats the point in going on holiday to a beautiful island like that and not see any of it (shame on you). we hired out scrambler bikes and was out every day 4 a fourtnite we saw everything there was to see and more. the dogs and cocks were no problem at all the only times i didnt get 2 sleep was when greg had his happy hours at midnite. word of advice take loo rolls and buy bleach (loos smell after a while). the bar food was suprisingly good & cheap. karen works her socks off and is very pleasant. didnt bother with greg at all. long walk to the beach but a nice one, we stopped at the crossroads halfway and had a drink at the in time bar which is very welcoming.we will b going back and maybe stay there again who knows (ill b prepared next time)

Georgie W

Hey, my family and I just got back from Sirene apartments! We really enjoyed it! The rooms are basic, and yes the chickens + dogs are anoying but only if you are at the back of the hotel! The pool is great with free sunbeds. The staff there are very friendly! When you want your sheets and towels cleaned just gather them into a pile at the end of the bed and they will change them and clean the apartment. There is sky tv and a pool table in the main area to keep the children intertained! It is a long walk to the beach but if you leave in the morning when it isnt as hot it isnt to bad. Anyone want to ask me any questions about anything just e-mail me on georgie864@hotmail.com Anyone who was staying there around the august time e-mail me too!

Trudi S

We have just returned from the Sirene Apartments. Yes they are very basic as you would expect in Greece but the food and drink at the apartments are really great and incredibly cheap. We had a great time. Beware of the "new" water park it is quite dangerous - everyone burnt their backs on the slides and the concrete floors are very slippery, also there are steps in the pools which are not clearly marked!! Please go down to Fawlty Towers and say hello to Harry as it is a great bar and really cheap but as it is a little out of the way very few visit - we loved it. Michealo's is the most fantastic restaurant - could't fault it (3 course meal wine and drinks for 8 people cost 130 euros!!) Hello to Greg and his wonderful staff at Sirene they were always really helpful and always on hand for any problems or queries - its a great place to stay.
Avoid the all day boat trip around the island as it is 8 hours and really boring!! - Apparently the fast trip is much better. If you have trouble sleeping so what we did - have a few cocktails in the Angel bar and you will sleep through anything (they don't use measures they just poor it in!!) - Have a great holiday.

Denise W

Zac D

Hello,

Has anyone got any pictures of the Sirene and could anyone tell me how big it is? or roughly how many rooms there are??

Is there a good bar that serves alcohol?

Thanks a WHOLE lot,
Zac.

John Q

Hi Racheal, John here, great to hear from you my E-mail is debbiequeen86@hotmail.com or john@gemsengineering.co.uk, lots to tell you, e-mail soon

Rachael M

can you give me John Queens email please, my name is rachael maggs and we met whilst on holiday at the sirene apartments. He played pool with my husband and we had a fab time out with them on our last night there. There were 20 of us and we ate at mermaids then on to a few cocktail bars. John and his wife Deb gave us an email but we can't seem to get thru on it and would dearly love to get in touch. My email if they request it is rachael@maggs1413.fsnet.co.uk would appreciate it greatly thank you

John Q

The appartments are very basic, as you would expect in Greece. However, we did expect some cooking utensils in the kitchen as it is a self catereing holiday. Even if it was explained before we arrived, we could have brought our own. What is the point going on a self catering holiday (for five) when there are no self catering facilities? Our Manos rep even told us that this is deliberate in order to get you to eat at the snack bar, which was reasonable, or at the other local eateries. The noise from the cockrel can be bad if you are a light sleeper and depending on the area of the hotel you are. Gregory, the manager, was hot and cold, some days sociable and other days not so, I even had to tell him not to manhandle my son from the sofa, but to tell me if he was not happy with him. Our kids loved the holiday as there were so many other kids there. The weather was really hot and walking the 20 mins to the main resort every day would be tiring, we had a jeep so we were lucky. Not the best holiday ever but we did meet lots of great people who in reality done more than anyone to make the holiday. A great bunch of people, lots of whom we have kept in touch with, hope anyone going has our luck `cos you`ll need it. Hi to Reacheal Coulter and her family, though I dont agree with her about Greg! Not my type at all! We also fount that the euro has put prices up to double on some things. Small coke is e1.50, pint of lager e2.50, breakfast e4.00, half pizza e2.50, ice lollies e1.50, token for pool e2.00(£1.30, too mutch), Smirnoff ice etc e3.00 and all spirits e3.00(£2.00 for a resonable measure), air con for two weeks e84.00. While we enjoyed the Sirene we would not go back, we love Greece but feel that the euro is spoiling half the reason we went in the first place. Good luck to anyone going, and hope you catch Greg in a good mood

Shengus M

Gregory, owner miserable.
Location OK - a bit out of the way but the walk into town is nice.
Quietness - a joke! Couldn't sleep through cokerels or dogs even with earplugs, and noise begins at 3am.
Cleanliness -poor. Apartments ingrained with old dirt.
Service - awful. Towels / bedlinen rarely changed.
Good points - food is basic but cheap. Pool is nice. Apart from that not great.

Our holiday in Kalamaki was only good because of the excursions we booked, and the touring we did by jeep.

Rachael C

I have just been to THE Sirene apartments with my family and it was the best hoilday of my life so good in fact im hoping to work out there end of this year. Greg and the staff were fantastic, had a excellent time and if i may say so Greg is sooooooooooooooooo handsome. but thanks to them i had a fab time and hope to venture back there for good.

Craig S

yes it has got air con payable daily i think it was 6 euros per night

John Q

Does anyone know if the Sirene has air-con, we heard that they were adding it for 2003, and any info on the date the new water park is opening.

Denise W

has anyone got any photos they can add?also are the two bedroom apartments spacious?is it basic cooking facilities not that i will be doing a lot of it.

Linda B

We had a fantastic holiday at the Sirene Apartments. Greg and his wife made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We would go back tomorrow.Didn't find it noisy at all and it was very clean.
Food was great and service excellent.

Denise W

thanks for your reply tony,we have booked to go next september.Have looked through a lot of comments and most are positive remarks. What did we do before we had the internet!any info you can give me on things to do places to go etc would be appreciated thanks again Denise

Tony J

denise. weve been to sirene twice a year for 7 years with 4 kids small to big.they love it.so do we

Denise W

has anyone got any photos of the sirene thinking about booking for 2004 also is it suitable for a family with two girls 13,10 or would they get bored you know what kids are like

Pete C

John, Thanks for the comments re the Rainbow aprtments but i made a mistake we had been booked into the Stelianna and not the Sirene. Sorry if i caused a panic or upset. (and to anyone else who read it) I've seen the Rainbow in the Manos book just wandered if anyone had any comments and there are plenty of other pools to use but we'll spend most of our time on the beach. Thanks and sorry again.

Craig S

We have just returned from the sirene and no dont worrry manos havent dropped them from their brochure.I agree with the earlier comment on these appartments though dont go here if you want peace and quiet and a good nights sleep. Most of the night their are dogs barking from a small holding next door and best of all from 3.15am onwards the cockerel makes his rude awakening. Also the appartments are on quite a busy road and although you dont notice it during the day you certainly notice it a night, put it this way i have returned home today and am looking forward to an unbroken nights sleep for the first time in a week. The appartments themselves are excellent well equipped and very clean. The pool is great and warm the poolside bar snacks and food are good well cooked and reasonably priced and the owner gregory is very friendly and cant do enough for you except perhaps shoot the damn cockerel and barking dogs. The sirene is located on the edge of kalamaki about 20 minutes walk to the centre of the town and about 30 minutes from the beach.Im not overstating the noise but if you can live with it the sirene is great

John Q

Pete, you can find the rainbow in any Manos book. It does not have a pool. Good luck!

John Q

Peter, we are booked to go to the Sirene Apts also through Manos, but I have not heard that they have cancelled the contract. How did you find out? When were you due to travel? Sorry I cant help with Rainbow Apts.

Pete C

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON RAINBOW APARTMENTS. WE WERE BOOKRD INTO SIRENE BUT MANOS HAVE CANCELLED THE CONTRACT. I DON'T FANCY THE ALTERNATIVE OF CARETTA BEACH BUT RAINBOW LOOKS BETTER ANYONE GOT ANY COMMENTS. YOUR HELP APRECIATED

I worked in Zante last summer and am working again this summer. You do see a few rats, but only dead ones that are in the road! Out of the 6 months i was there i saw 1 running in the road so the likely hood is very slim. Hardly any spiders that i can remember.
Make sure you take a good pair of walking shoes as its about 20-30 minutes walk to the centre from the sirene apartments, and about a further 5-10 minutes to the beach.

John Q

Have booked to go in July with wife and kids, getting worried about references to rats and spiders etc, what`s the story about all the rats? my wife is thinking of cancelling altogether.

Keeley A

1st time to zante and would definatley go back again - best holiday ever! i don't know how anybody can mock or say any negative about sirene apts, there were gr8t, clean and tidy (our apt was cleaned regularly-by a lovely & friendly cleaner, who always did a gud job!) also the apts were basic and gud, but wot more do u need! plus there were clean and had loads of space, also the views were beautiful and breathtaking - the scenery of the pool and the mountains all around!

the factilities were also really gud! the pool, perfect size and clean, the mini-market was close and cheap - the assistant in the shop was always helpful and polite! the complex had a lovely sitting area, e.g. bar and snack-bar gud menu's, gud food (no faults with greg's bacon or chip butties!) and drink and also gud value! also there is sofa's, tv (4 the footie!) pool-table and a games machine (nobody had better knocked me off the top spot of solitare!!!)

greg is a wkd and a top bloke, always did his best for everyone (also cheers for the shots of ouzo for my 18th birthday!)himself, as well as his family and friends also made us feel welcome and safe, as greg was 1st up on a morning and last 2 bed on a nite, after he had locked up when everyone woz in bed or the...bar!!

the walk to main resort isn't too bad, especially during the day, yet i wud get a taxi home (taxi's easy to get and quite cheap!!)

i wud recommend to go to kalamaki beach it is gorgeous, laganas is gud 4 shopping and if u want a mcdonalds! mermaids restaurant, the cave-bar and down-under are all really gud 2!!

overall didn't want to c*m home and want to go back! 11 of us went and stayed at sirene apts, a complex 4 every1 and we all thought it was an excellent place.

no sight of: rats or spiders and our apartment at the front faced and was right next to the cockrels and dogs, but it didn't bother us or effect our beauty sleep!

p.s. - angela - the rep (direct holidays) was top class 2!
10/10 all-round!!!

Derry M

gregory was lovely it was clean and friendly. vanna in the small market next door was a love we loved the place and will be going back

Rod C

Our room (number 5) was clean and well kept. Plane noise not a real bother but night-time noise was horrendous - cockerels crowing and dogs barking almost non stop when the moon was full. Take ear plugs. Walking the main beach road to the tavernas can be dangerous at night - even though I am very conspicuous I was hit by a jeep at 9.30 pm. Also two women here were mugged at 12.30 am walking back on the road. Vanna at the on-site supermarket is an absolute love - speaks perfect English and is very helpful and informative. All in we loved Zante and the people. Going back soon!

Amanda M

We have just returned after two weeks in Kalamaki. We spent one out of two weeks at the Sirene and then moved to a hotel due to lack of sleep. What with the pool table clinking away until all hours, the kids screaming, the cockerel sounding from 4 am onwards, the dog joining in about 7ish and the local farmer shooting birds at all hours it made for an unrelaxing stay. PS Any one who does go please feed the family of cats as they were the only ones that were quiet!!

Leigh A

Great holiday! - greg and Billy where very friendly and helpful and patient! Yana (?) in shop next door was very friendly and helpful. apartments very basic but very clean- not a rat or spider in sight!!! Only problem was the cockerel (which sounded as if it was in the bathroom) which started any time from 12.15am onwards, then the big dog that barked at the cockerel and finally the small yappy dog which joined in!!!

Lisa & Jemma

Greg was very nice and we had no problems with rats. The rep was very helpful- the Athens trip was great!! There is no live entertainment ANYWHERE except for the Bounty bar in Laganas on Thursdays and Tuesdays. Hope everyone who is going has a great time!!!

Stephen L

The travel agent is Manos Holidays for summer 2003 if any1 wants 2 know.

Stephen L

In response to Charlene Burke: Direct Holidays appear to be offering these apartments. I think they are part of MyTravel formerly Airtours. They list the Sirene phone number as 00 30 695 41753

Simon K

We've been back a fortnight and looking back find it hard to fault anything,if what you want is a small setup, then this is a good choice, a lovely view of the pool & hills from most balconies, clean rooms, and clean site. The food is second to none, any time of the day.We found it generally quiet (if you want it). the kids loved it and made some good friends, Gregory and Co looked after them and had time for everyone 10/10. Although its about 20mins from the beach its not a bad walk in the day (Take a torch for the night). Had a GOOD TIME.......

Dave H

gregory was great so was the girl in the shop on site both very very helpfull just a pitty its so far from resort centre.ohh yea and the very LOUD cockerel at 4.30am

Charlene B

Charlene B

I realy loved the Sirene Apartments. It is realy friendly place. I have to dissagree with the RAT man because i didnt find any rats any of the times i was there. I also dissagree with the man that says Greg dosnt smile because i have photos to prove that he does. All i found was realy friendly people i will be going back because i love it and felt like part of the family.

Carol F

I realy loved the Sirene Apartments like i said i would go back tomorrow

Carol F

i need to know what travel agent they go threw, they have changed.please help

Carol F

we all loved the place.the sirene apartments, all of the island,we found everyone, very friendly.and the place was very clean,i would return tomorrow.we felt like part of the family.it was easy come easy go,the gates were locked when everyone was home.greg was first up and last to bed.

Jackie S

can anyone give me the telephone number for these apartments please??

Charlotte L

even though the apartments were a long way away from the village, it wasn't like it wasn't nice walk down and back to the village. If people did find it hard, there are taxis readily available. I've been there three times, and each time it has improved. There has been visitors such as little cute lizards though! But i guess that's expected in Greece! I'm definately going back to Kalamaki, i've enjoyed it all the four times i've been there and hoping to go next year. The whole atmosphere is great, the weather is great and the peope are great. 'nuff said!

Peter O

we found that being woken every morning at about 4.00am by an over ambitious cockeral a little bit tiresome but we soon got used to it we found the staff very helpful and always smiling execpt the manager (gregory)who could cook a nice breakfast but must learn how to smile my son thought the pool was fad would like to go back in 5 or so years just to see how much it has changed

Rat C

We booked 2 double bedrooms for 4 people but wasn't expecting our regular visitor THE RAT. It visited us twice (that we know of) but only managed to get under our bed once. We would not return because the rooms are not big enough for visitors.

John B

we have stayed at the sirene appartments twice the rooms are cleaned regually by a very good cleaner she is always smiling but cannot speak english the bar is run by an ex-brit who we do not like as he is arrogant and big headed the mini market next to the apartments is run by renea a really lovely lady and as the beer is cheaper there and she is more friendly we used to drink in there the pool is beautiful but the small cafe is crap. all in all we would still go back there if only it was nearer the village and not some mile and a half away along a dark but busy main road
