I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THE HOTEL!!!!!!! My partner and i have just returned from Caretta beach hotel and can't wait to go back. This was our first trip to greece havin taken holidays in spain and balearics. We always opt for 4 star rating. I can honestly say this hotel is one of the best we have stayed at and can't wait to go back. The changes they have done for this summer season are brilliant, the addition of the new on site water park is fantastic. I can't fault the rooms, or the friendliness of all the staff. the food and snacks are great always something even for the fussiest of eaters. The amazing choice of all inclusive drinks were endless and this does include cocktails which is not stated in the brouchure. All round this is a great hotel complex for all age ranges and it certainly didn't disappoint. We didn't see any dogs on site, never heard any cockrel either!!!!!!
A visit to artemis restaurant just opposite hotel is a must!!!!
Lastly when reading any reviews on caretta beach, please disregard any from before 2011 as alot of changes and vast improvements have been made.
Date 12/08/11 ( currently on Holiday ) Price 2100 pounds Booked holiday with Thonas Cook at Hotel Carrtta Beach , all inclusive ! however has been holiday from hell, food is bland with no variation in menu Greek/ Italian kids get chips/beans Sausage. Greek Salad served 3 times a day . All inclusive diminishes at 1030pm with restriction to 2 drinks per order, plastics glasses , lack of Snacks, Lack of life guards, waterpark is not what it supposed to be in brochure?
The hotel Manager is and does not wish to accomodate request from myself to meet with him over issues. Was allocated small room on arrival not as requested or stated at time of booking. Air Conditioning not very effective, charged 15 euros for week. Entertaiment is lacking , though Bingo every night( if you like )

Having returned fron Zante I have logged a formal complaint with Thomas Cook, whom are investigating the complaints I have made regarding the standard of this Hotel.This hotel is far from 4 star! and the rooms on the webpage of the hotel are not what you are allocated, in fact they are of lower standard than that of 'field conditions in the military'. I have had better sleeping arrangements on service overseas, to top it cleanliness is a issue as it appears rushed when the cleaners do turn up.The waterpark mmm! 'aquamania' this is the only reason why the hotel was able to get in the the Thomas cook brochure, along with going all inclusive, yet they have no idea what it actually means.
The waterpark only ever has two rides open at any one time, and the hotel has been described on tripadvisor as 'the benidorm of Zante' Q- madge! which is the only person missing along with Johnny Vegas!
It would appear both Thomas Cook and the hotel welcome 'Pets' from the photograph of the stray dog in the pool which was a regular occurance and obviously been going on sometime. Also the hotel would appear to need a good electrcian! any one know of any ?and if you lose your key well you a thief will have a great time in your room, as it provides all the information he/she needs.
During my holiday there were thefts from rooms and a mugging of a boy under 10years old by local boys on bikes outside hotel shop at lunchtime, but 'NO POLICE' were called at any time, I fear it is due to the adverse publicity the hotel would receive.
This hotel is great for familes, it is absolutely huge, but it is also not too bad for couples! My husband and I went in May this year, and we were in the a block away from all the madness! We had a small pool and the area was very quiet! I would definitely stay there again. I would also recommend the Red Tail Cocktail bar just round the corner from the hotel , the owner Sakis was very friendly and we popped in most nights!
Just got back from holiday in Kalamaki at Caretta Beach. It was absolutely fantastic, all the staff were very friendly and helpful and I must say we had a good laugh with the bar staff!!The complex is beautiful and I couldn't fault any of the facilities or staff!I would recommend Caretta beach to anyone!I wish I was still there!!Also if you stay here, go to the greek night-was such good fun and great value!
It is soo lovely here. At first we was unsure, but you get used to basic living if self catering. The pools was great, with hardly any children, which is great for 7 18 year olds to sun bathe. The bars are good and lively when you are about to start your night out. It is easy to get a taxi to lagnas and we fitted 7 of us in one taxi for 10 euro but normally its 7 euro to the strip. A 2 minute walk to kalamaki main strip with loads of food and bars. You have to learn to say no, when they try and get you to come in. Caretta Beach is really good and especially on 2 for 1 cocktails. Definately go here!!!!!!!!!
Just got back today from staying at the Caretta Beach, I went with my wife, sixteen year old daughter and her mate, we all had a fantastic time.
This is a fantastic hotel, the staff are lovely and can't do enough for you, the apartments are well decorated, cleaned every day and towels changed every other day, the pools are spotless with no worries regards getting a sunbed, it is family orientated but if you are group who want to party you will be well catered for as well at the hotel as there are happy hours every day, the bar staff are great along with the entertainment with loads of live music, there is quite a few clubs and loads of music bars in Kalimaki but its and only a short taxi ride for about 10 euros into Laganus where you can party all night.
We ate at the Mermaid in town most nights and the food was excellent higly recommended.
Will definately go back again, excellent value as well.
We have just arrived back home from here(BOO HOO!). It has to be said that this is probably one of the best hotels we have stayed in over the past few years. We had a wicked time and would reccomend a stay here if you are visiting the island. All the staff were excellent and cannot be faulted. Thanks.
We would definately urge everyone who stays at the Caretta to attend the BBQ evening. Excellent food and some great fun to be had dancing the night away.
My kids had a fantastic time in the many pools which were always well presented every day and were spotlessly clean.
I am sure anyone who wants a relaxing time and have a fun filled evening this is the place to go.

heading over to Caretta for 2 weeks on the 11th July. How hot will it be!!!!!! There is a big gang of us going over (20 inc kids) Girls age from 12 to 16, is there much for them to do? Can we bring them to the factory to the form party ? hearing great report, really looking forward to the trip, any info would be appreciated.

I am so sad we had to go But we will be back to visit again and i have already decided im going to live there when im 18! Hi all at Caretta Beach, just got back today from a weeks holiday and we have to say we had a great time there, loved sitting out for the happy hour in the sun. Also my husband and myself were probably one of the last people to leave the bar. Left the family at home this time so enjoyed the rest, we are the Irish couple. We would like to thank you all for a great holiday, I am the one who wanted the music on all the time when sitting outside. Hi, we've booked for two weeks in August. Is it any good for children, one 4 one 2? And is there any entertainment or kids discos etc in the evening? Been to Zante many years but not Kalamaki, it is a beautiful island from what I remember. Would anyone recommend any trips with the kids? Thank you
booked a last minute holiday in may with my wife and we were lucky enough to end up at the caretta.everything was spot on and have booked to go next year for 2 weeks this time with our 2 children.

we were there 6-20 june 09.had a great time, food was good ,everywhere was spotless,staff were friendly,my two boys 9 and 10 had brill time .
But we will be back to visit again and i have already decided im going to live there when im 18! There was one of your waitering staff that took very good care of me on my holiday and i will be back to visit him!!!
