Castelli Hotel

Spent our 6th time at the Castelli in September, another perfect fortnights break. Once again Spiros and Anastasia were the perfect hosts. Weather had a couple of off days, although that was beaten hands down by a fantastic earthquake which Spiros just laughed off as nothing. Going back in May, am counting the days already.

just got back on monday 7th october, the weather was not brilliant we had two thunderstorms and a very rainy day on 6th. As far as the hotel is concerned it is ok, very clean and tidy, sprios and anastasia are very welcoming, this is an ideal hotel for familes and older couples, however if you are looking for a raging time ie coming in late and getting up late it is not for you. spriros closes the doors at 2am and you have to knock him awake to get in, he didnt seem to mind when we did this but you feel guilty. the cleaners start to knock on the doors at 9.30am but do go away for an hour if you are still in bed. the hotel is about a 20 min walk into town which is down the road and along the beach and this brings you at the beginning of the main high street. the staff at the hotel were really friendly and welcoming too.

In response to Alun Smith below, the Castelli can be found in the Thomson Greece brochure. You can always go flight only, Spiros has built some new rooms to accommodate non-Thomson people, and a taxi transfer from the airport is easy and cheap. Just phone or write to Spiros with your holiday dates.

In response to Paul Taylor's request - Casa Greque restaurant (avoid the Chinese reastaurants). The restaurants overlooking the sea are nice although a little more expensive (you pay for the view). Pink Panther Bar if you like watching pirate films in the day and has a good atmosphere in the night. There are more trendy (and more expensive) bars down the centre of the strip. One piece of advise when going to the Strip from Hotel Castelli - use the beach road - it's a lot quicker!

My wife and I went to Castelli 3 years ago and loved it. We were aged 28 at the time and enjoy a good night out. I cannot believe Spiros and Anastasia would be rude or unpleasant unless provoked. As long as you respect other guests when you return home late at night there was no problem. I cannot believe Spiros and Anastasia would be rude or unpleasant unless provoked. In fact we wanted to go back but have not seen it any of the brochures. One tip - if you like your food have a meal in Casa Creque restaurant - great food, great service and great value.

Oh - forgot to add for Lynne Bellis. If you'd checked your brochure you would see that Thomson's charge for the fridge. Over the past year or so, Thomson's have forced charges on Spiros for sunbed mattresses, fridges - you name it. Don't shoot the hotelier - it's the greedy holiday company!! As a guide for future holiday bookings - read the brochure first!

I'm amazed to hear anyone say that Spiros and Anastasia are anything other than superb hosts. They both work tirelessly to ensure that your holiday is one to remember. Lynne Bellis must obviously have taken a dislike to the hotel and its owners, nevermind the other way round. The Castelli welcomes travellers from all surrounding hotels and apartments, indeed this year we stayed in Aghios Sostis, went to the Castelli, found we'd forgot something - and Spiros took me back to our apartment in his own car, using his petrol and valuable time away from his hotel. Spiros and Anastasia work far too hard to be put down by one unhappy couple. Of all the places we've travelled, there is only one holiday destination we would call home - the Castelli.

Oh forgot to add that Spiros charges 20 Euros for a fridge, most guests had to wait 1 Week or longer for their fridge, and no guests from any other Hotels were allowed into Castelli Hotel or the pool area.

Even though the location was excellent, and the Hotel was very clean with a lovely pool,the hospitality of Spiros and Anastasia was disgusting. Myself and my boyfriend went to Laganas as a couple in our mid Twenties looking for quiet days and lively nights. I feel that Spiros took an immediate dislike to young couples, and only wanted older guests at his Hotel. If you like having to take your shoes off when you come in after a night out, not being able to have a laugh at Spiros's bar or else you will get told off, to name but a few, then this is the Hotel for you. We had an excellent holiday in Laganas but would definetly NOT go back to the dreaded Castelli. All 18-40 stay away, all oldies welcome.

ref sarah wakefield, the rooms are basic but very clean, the maids call 7 days a week. and yes you can have a fridge in your room.(extra) let me know how you got on with your holls as my wife and i hade a brill time...

I am going to Zante on 27/9/02 and am staying at the Castelli Hotel. Can anyone advise me what the rooms are like, whether or not you can obtain a fridge for your room and any other useful info. Thanks.

Spiros and Anastasia's hospitality was second to none. This place helped to make our holiday. Unbelievably clean for a holiday hotel (Sue suggested even the bugs were scared of Spiros as we didn't see any during our stay!). Saturday afternoon was cracking - Superb Spiros BBQ & 3-0 England win, does it get any better than this? Would not suit rowdies, Spiros likes his guests to have as peaceful holiday as possible (during day and night). Will DEFINITELY return.

Excellent hotel if you want small and friendly. Cannot do enough to make you feel welcome. Just far enough away from the nightlife with peaceful location. Good value look out for the new Ice cream cafe opened last week (1st June) SEASHELLS it sells ice cream to die for. Going back soon best holiday for a long time. Sue/Gordon Metcalf

how can i see a picture of the castelli, in laganas, is it quiet at night 1pm onwards..

The Castelli is absolutely fabulous. I couldn't recommend it more! It's a 10 minute walk from the main strip, along the beach. Far enough away for peace and quiet, but close enough to the action. The hotel is spotlessly clean and has a great pool. Spiros and Anastasia are brilliant - extemely helpful and friendly. The Castelli has won the Thompson Gold award every year since 1994, and well deserved it is. I'm definitely going back next year.

For people who like a home away from home but with everything you could possibly want from a holiday close by - the Castelli is for you. Once you've experienced the hospitality that Spiros and Anastasia offer you'll never want to go anywhere else. Laganas main street with its incedible choice of music-bars, restaurants, fast food etc is ony 10 minutes walk away - half an hour walking back at 4 in the morning! If you don't want the hustle and bustle - turn left out the hotel and head up into the hills. The lanes are great for walking or biking. Local village beer is a third of the main street prices. We've been the past four years to the Castelli - FANTASTIC.

We stayed at the Castelli first two weeks of July and thought it was fabulous! Spiros and Anastasia were really friendly and helpful.. and the hotel was great (and very clean!) Would definitely go there again. If you go Spiros's BBQ on a saturday is a must!

We travelled June 2000 and was disappointed in our studios-Davina. We visited the Castelli Hotel everyday and used the pool and bar. Spiros is the owner who is a lovely man who showed us the rooms. Some had double beds and were all spotlessy clean. He sees the running of his hotel not to gain a bad reputation and closes the main doors at 11pm-12pm. However he does not mind answering the door early hours.

I'm going their next week so I'll let you know when I get back!
