Iliessa Beach Hotel

Accommodation in Argassi

Excellent hotel but a touch noisy if you're given a room at the front overlooking the street, a bit close to the 'English' bars. Hotel staff excellent, especially Kostas who ensures everyone has a really good time.

Myself (Michelle) and Daughter (Grace) stayed here in August 2003. A friendly hotel where you can use the facilities of the Porto Iliessa, where they have a good Kids Club and pool area. The Iliessa hotel has a pool and direct access to a gently sloping, calm, warm sea (no beach to speak of). Kostas the Pool Side Bar man is great fun and really made my daughters holiday with his sense of humour, when she felt ill for a few days he really made an effort to cheer her up by buying her a Bubble Gun and impressing her with his card tricks and connect 4 skill (She wanted to take him home). George the barman at the Porto Iliessa is a friendly handsome Chap (I wanted to take him home...lol). Eleanor the evening barmaid is really nice too, as is the receptionist. We couldn't find fault with this hotel or the resort of Argassi, lively if you want and quiet if you want (Don't expect luxury in Greece though as it just doesn't happen, you get good clean basic accommodation and facilities). Not too many English Bars (We went to one called Oasis and once was enough). Go to the Greek owned bars they are more courteous and professional (Particularly Magic Mushroom and the Meeting Place where you will get prompt, polite, professional service, also visit George upstairs at the Porto Iliessa). Zorba's, and Carissomo are nice places to eat although all of the restaurants do pretty much the same thing. If you do a tour go on "Zakfari". The most impressive thing about the Hotel is Kostas because he laughs and jokes and it's contagious - rubbing off on the guests - and you find yourself making friends and chatting with the other guests. A big Efkaristo to all of the Staff and to Thomas Cook Reps (Ian and Jodie) who were friendly & knowledgeable and worked really hard long hours to make everyone happy, they need to improve or stop the sunkissed cruise though as this was just mind numbingly boring, overcrowded and overpriced, especially the watersports on Vassilikos beach which are privately run, this beach is also far too busy.

Hotel was great, we had a room underneath the bar and it was surprisingly quiet. Surprised at cost of fridge which is 20 euros per week.

We have booked a fortnight at the Hotel Iliessa Beach 3-17 July 2003. We requested when we booked an upper floor room with a sea view.Whilst the tour operator will endeavour to arrange this there are no guarantees.
Question - Can we contact the hotel direct and make the same request?

Amy

i went to Hotel Iliessa beach on the 1st may 2003 and got back on the 15th may 2003.we liked it very much.Everyone is so friendly, especially Costas (Bloody Nora) the poolside waiter, Hellena the bar maid and the receptionists. The maids were very good, they always made sure everything was clean and tidy.whenever we went out for a meal we went to belt busters just up the road from the hotel, very good and the restaurant owner is very friendly he's called Mario and his waiter is called Andrew, he's mad and funny.we always booked are trips with perlegos tours with George, very friendly. We have been round the whole of the Island, we hired a moped for the 2 weeks, very cheap.we would defiantely go back again.

I stayed here with my partner Brian 24/10/02 - 31/10/02 the very last week of the season. The hotel is fab, the night porter is rude and very unfriendly. He will tell you that the hotel closes at 2am when it is really 24 hours. Very quiet at this time of year and the weather is perfect, it was 80-90 every day and not 1 drop of rain. The best thing about the hotel is Kostas he is one of the most funniest people on the planet and also the campest streight men you will ever met. If you have met him you will know his saying is BLOODY NORA if you want to know the story behind it you can ask me or him as tells the story better as he puts all the hand actions with it. Beware of making too much noice as the hotel manager will march you to his office as some girls did when we were there. If Gemma and Kelly read this hi to you and all the others who were at the hotel the same time as us. Last thing to Kostas we love you and will never forget you xxx

We had one of the few appartments near the beach. The appartment was great, quiet, clean and there was good service. We did not like the fact that one of the cleaning ladies barged in every time and the beds were not good (but maybe that was because it was the end of season). Note that is a hotel for families or older (from age 25) people.

Fantastic hotel..... simple but clean and well run!!!! Would definitely stay here again as it was in an ideal position.. close to sea and nightlife but still quiet around the hotel itself!!!! Kostas the snack bar man will either irritate you or you will love him... bloody nora!!!!! If anyone here recognises my name and wants to mail.. i.e. the Bints or louise and Gav my email address is john.crawford@merseymail.co.uk!!!!!

hi, just got back from a great 2 weeks made even better by staying here. the hotel was ideal as it is well positioned and the sea is literally at the bottom of the 4 steps at the back of the hotel. the air con was v. welcomed as weather was bliss. i recomend booking the boat trip round the island with peters(opp hotel)he's much cheeper & v. friendly 2 everyone.also kostas- the man @ the bar i want to say-'bloody nora'!!!!!!!

We have just returned from Zante 11th July 2002,the general layout of the hotel is very good, but sadly lacking any evening entertainment within the hotel the bar was really nice but they had employed an English guy who really didn't want to be there and made it obvious, the only fun part of our trip in the hotel was Kostas the poolside barman and local funnyman, the manager/owner ran the hotel like a Gestapo officer constantly watching his staff on cameras placed over the bar and poolside bar and generally chastising his staff in front of customers he owns two and was always walking between the two. the night porter at the hotel is a man who does not like being disturbed from his sleeping after a certain time by people coming in late and making too much noise, hey I thought holidays were for enjoying ourselves. We could not fault the quality and choice of food available outside the hotel ranging right through all nationalities, if you want a friendly drink and good food the meeting place opposite offers a friendly atmosphere and every Saturday some entertainment to sing and dance to.

Went here on honeymoon in 1999 returned the following year the staff are lovely and make you feel so wlecome, the hotel is spotless, brilliant location - right on the beach and right by brilliant restaurants and bars. Going to return later on this year for a third time but going to try later in the year.

Robert Farmer - Were you in Argassi in '87 ????

Drooshti B

My Husband and I were stayed here on our honeymoon, and will always remember the friendliness of the staff. We have been back since and will hopefully go again. A lovely hotel on the beach and not to near any loud bars etc. fully recommed it

Robert F

for the attention of tracy price . iliessa beach hotel and porto iliesa are sister hotels about 100 yrds apart we are going back again end of sept 02 excellent

Tracey P

Is this the same hotel as Porto Lliesa Apartments? We have booked a family holiday there for Sept/Oct02.

Richard S

Very good central-ish location in Argassi. Very friendly staff. Loads of solar heated hot water. Handy pool side bar/snack bar. Not much lager lout element. You pay extra for the safe (expected) and the fridge (not expected). Also air conditioning not working. Plenty of sun beds. Would definately go again.

Andy C

The hotel was great and the people very friendly, especially Helena in the poolside snack bar. The Greek people were fabulous and very trust worthy, but count your change after visiting the English bars. We went as a couple but met up with four of the nicest people you could wish to meet Robert and Vivian, Jason and Heather. We went on our excursion to smugglers cove with JMC it cost £20 per person and we returned the way we came. BUT if you go to Peters opposite the Iliessa Beach Hotel for £10 per person you get to smugglers cove, then complete a round trip of the island...............and if your very lucky get to see some turtles .............As Robert and Vivian will tell you........PS I thought I'd met a Scotsman who didn't drink..I was wrong...Very wrong...

Robert F

Excellent holiday hotel staff brilliant Babis the barman "great guy" if going on any trips just go across the road to peter his trips were excellent we recommend the olympia trip and the greek night we also went on trip around island on the mandalena the best and the fastest boat on the island.we also made some great friends, dee and andy, heather and jason also heather and ian.too our friends hope you read this WE WILL BE BACK.

Piglet

this hotel was perfect. the staff were inobtrusive yet helpful. located just at the end of the hustle and bustle so good for everything. right on the beach could hear the sea at night from room. air conditioning not too great but shop next to Peter's across road hires fans. lovely beachside resturant at front of hotel mimosa next door.

Andrea R

We are just back from our trip to Zante. The Hotel Iliessa Beach was brilliant. It is Handy to town, queit and relaxing. We were in Room 77, best balcony and sea view ever. Very Romantic. If you go there it would be a good decision. For excursions, go across to Peter, across from the hotel. The hotel is close to everything and has friendly staff!!! Should go!

Rachel C

If your going on a fun holiday with your mates DONT go here - the manager hates young people and the staff are plain ignorant! Just get pissed up and he will hate you even more!!

Dean J

I stayed at this hotel about five years ago, i found it very relaxing and the fact that the sea was at the rear of the hotel was fantastic. If you swim out far enough with a snorkel and mask you can see a multicolour of fishes, but beware of the sea irchins, flip flops advised. 10 out of 10
