Papillon Hotel

Accommodation in Argassi

Hi, I just want to know if this hotel is ideal for a group of 4 girls to go as a girly holiday?

Is it close to the strip?

Thank you in advance :):)

We spent last year at the hotel Papillon and had such a great time we are going back again in June. Can't wait to see everyone again. They were so helpful and made us feel very welcome. This is not a five star hotel but the warmth of hospitality definately is.

We booked directly with the hotel and got our flights with easyjet. Seems like the way forward.

See you all soon. xx

We went to Papillon Apartments 19th  September 2010, my husband read the reviews and thought we should change the accomodation.  It was not as bad as what people had said, when we got there the rooms were clean and tidy and very spacious, one review said it smelt of cat wee - it was actually the plants that you could smell!  The pool was a nice area.  We had a lovely holiday and the weather was 30 degrees most days.

I must admit after reading some of the latest reviews about this Hotel/Apartments I really didn't want to go.  When we got there and opened the door to our 2 bedroom appt (254) we had such a relief.  It really wasn't as bad as we thought.  It was clean and although the room probably needed a bit of maintenence it was definitely liveable. The accommodation was very spacious and although they are self catering the facilities to use were quite limited.  There was a fridge, kettle, plates, cutlery and a freestanding 2 ring hob.  The cost of eating out though was very reasonable.
We also heard bad reviews about the pool area, but this again was better than expected.  Looked clean enough to me.
Talking about the pool area I would recommend having the club sandwich at the pool bar.  They are the best !

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlargeHa ha just had the laugh of my life reading the comments about the Papillon Hotel and looking at the photos on their web site. Just come home today from Argassi - we were booked into the apartments - took one look and walked out. We got no help from the rep from Co-operative Travel so we booked into other accomodation at a cost of 520 euros. We knew it was basic 2/3 star but didn't expect 10 star filth - the whole place is totally run down. Take a look at my photos and compare with the web site.

Just got back from Argassi after two fantastic weeks. Stayed at the Papillon Hotel which was absolutely fab! Try out the apartments , sleeps five with plenty of room, overlooking the Papillon's superb pool. Nightlife good, food excellent and plenty to do for such a small island. Scooters are a great bargain {people of all ages hire them} to get about the island and see it's beauty for themselves. To hire the scooter only cost around 10 Euros {£6} per 24hrs.

After booking our holiday, we read on the internet some bad comments about the Papillon Hotel that apprehensive about going there {We even considered cancelling our holiday}, but on our arrival we were more than pleasantly surprised by the hotel and it's staff. Maria and Dimetera {her daughter} were fantastic hosts and couldn't accomodate us enough. Excellent breakfast every morning, eggs, ham, cheeses, rolls fresh orange juice, tea and coffee all unlimited, well worth getting up for. A fabulous allround holiday, we recommend Argassi to everyone.

i went to the papillion apartments last year and want to go again next year but it is not in any of the brouchures so i wondered does anyone have a fax number or telephone number or even an email number so i can book direct. thanks

Lauren S

even though it was a hell of a journey getting there it was one of the best holidays i have ever had. we went for my birthday and the rep went into Zante town and bought me a birthday cake. we met some really nice people and the pool area was great. we are looking into booking again for next year.

Having read everyone's comments we were really concerned but we were pleasantly surprised. Hotel room basic but very clean. Bathroom got flooded every time we had a shower but that's Greece isn't it.Maria on reception very helpful and friendly. Safe deposit boxes in reception meant that we could leave our balcony doors open all the time. It was still very hot for mid October. Pool was OK, the same could not be said for the families ( who know who they are) who did not buy water wings or whatever for their small children who could not swim, and then constantly screamed at them when they nearly drowned. Pool bar friendly and good value for money.

What a dump! Our room looked out onto a cramped, scruffy pool area and the music from the bar kept us awake until gone 3am. That was when the fights started. The other side of the room looked out onto the rear of a restaurant on the main street and that also didn't close until very late. Breakfast was pathetic, just a couple of pieces of toast, some cake and a coffee while you were surrounded by people drinking pints. We ended up going out to a cafe for a proper breakfast. If you've booked a holiday here, cancel it NOW!! Argassi itself is a bit "kiss me quick" and fish 'n' chips for my liking but there are some good places for those who like their Greek islands to be "Greek" if you take the time to hunt them down.

I have recently come back from two weeks in the Papilloin appartments, and I can't wait to go back! The appartments are very big but the hotel rooms are quite small! The pool is brilliant, one of the best in Argassi! The people at the hotel and really nice! If any one is going there in the near future you will have a great time and could you please say hello to Dimitrea and Marie for me! The rep for the Papilloin is JJ! He is really nice and great fun to be with, I recomend that you throw him in the pool, he's used to it and loads of fun! Say hi to JJ for me as well! The hotel is right in the middle of argassi and close to the beach, couldn't get any better really! I really miss every one there and can't wait to go back next year!

ROOMS WERE QUITE SMALL AND BASIC,BREAKFAST WAS VERY DISSAPOINTING SO WE DID'NT BOTHER GETTING UP FOR IT.POOL BAR SNACKS VERY GOOD VALUE,GEORGE AND TONY LOTS OF FUN.

Wolfman

Nice hotel, very good staff rooms (B&B) very small if you have kids) Breakfast is only toast and cake + tea/coffee. Pool bar with Toni & George is a scream, (Bewere the there made up cocktails). The pool is great and the hotel is about as in the middle of everything as you could get

Abbie H

This was overall, a great hotel- close to everything you need.

David M

The Papillon is in an ideal location, right in the centre of the village. The pool is one of the best in Argassi and there is never a problem obtaining a sunbed or a parasol. The pool bar is run by Toni and is fairly good value. The Magic Mushroom bar which is attached to the Papillon is a great bar & across the road you will find the Green Frog restaurant which is always busy. The beach is a two minute walk. Argassi's beach is very good for watersports, but as far as beaches go it is just a narrow strip of sand. Best bet if you want to use the Argassi beach is to go to the "Waves" bar which rents out sun-beds on a grassy area in front of the bar , looking out to sea. The guy who owns it, Panayotis originally owned the bar now known as the "WRECK". Hope you have a great time, I am still trying to book flights for May & July, but I haven't decided what I'm doing yet.

Anna M

I'm going to the Papillon Hotel in May and would like to know what to expect when I get there.
