Cave Bar

Bars in Kalamaki

Jamie H

just returned from possibly one of the greatest holidays ever taken. nico, giannis and michael made me more than welcome and i can't wait toreturn next year. if anyone gets the chance get up to the turret around 8 p.m and watch the sunset over the island. fantastic!

??? ?

does anyone remember that cute little waitress Alison??? She really was hot i hp she is their again next year!!!

Wendy P

This bar was lovely. Great for pre warm up drinks in chic and pleasant surroundings! We drank here before we went out for dinner and found it so good, we came back after and spent a great relaxing night away from the hustle and bustle from the main strip!!

David N

Wow visit this bar.....

Phil C

Cool place. Great little ride up in the moke. really nice view from the top looking over Kalamaki and Laganas. My kids loved it

Julie M

Was there last week but it was very quiet as the season nears its end. It was also too dark to see anything as the weather was a bit temperamental for a few days. I would like to visit it again but earlier in the season.

Buellman

Superb setting, although the actual cave itself was shut off for some reason when we were there, (last two in Sept).

The walk up the hill ain't so bad if you don't want the moke.

Only gripe is that the music was a tad too loud the night we went. The quiet seats were all taken, and we had to sit in front of a (fairly large) speaker. A bit more planning, with more, but smaller speakers would ensure everybody got the same volume!!

Clare B

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a 10 day holiday on Zante. We stayed in Kalamaki and this was without doubt the best bar we visited. Set into the hillside overlooking Lagana and Kalamaki Bay the view is stunning and well worth the trip. You can sit in the CAVE or high up on the terrace overlooking the bay surrounded by beautiful exotic flowers and cactus. The Cocktails are gorgeous and the staff v friendly..please do yourselves a huge favour and visit this fantastic and romantic bar.

Andrea W

This Bar was by far the best Bar in Kalamaki!!! It is a really nice place to go just to chill out. Matilda the waitress is very friendly and she goes out of her way to speak to you. And of course Dave the mini moke driver......what a friendly guy!!! He deserves all the tips so always be generous!!
Great bar......Highly recommended!

Lisa J

We also found about this bar from the website. It is by far the best bar in Kalamaki, situated right at the end of the main road. Although the bar is quite small, the music is excellent and there is a good choice of reasonably priced cocktails. The free jeep ride to take you to and from the main road up to the bar entrance just makes your visit that little bit special! Beware though, the bar is only open after 8pm.

Louise T

Brilliant place that we found out about from this website - a hidden gem. Definately a must for chilling out. The Honey Girl cocktail was the best cocktail I have EVER had and the prices are excellent too. Enjoy the short but sweet buggy ride up the hill.

David &

YES, YES, YES!!!! This is THE bar to go to.
Get the moke with Dave & Roly and don't walk in the heat up or down to the bar. The atmosphere is excellent, the music suitable, the staff are all friendly and the drinks are..... hic! Even the non-alcholic fruit punch! (Very refreshing on a hot evening) We were not on the prowl for hunks or babes being quite happy with each others company so we cannot comment on their availabilty here!?

John

Myself wife and 2 kids loved chilling out at the end of the night here.Drinks a touch more expensive than elsewhere but worth it.Unusual setting with some fantastic music catering for most.A real nice bar and one we would recommend to anyone.Pity he doesn't link his music online to his web site.

Lisa M

LOVELY VIEWS,EXCELLENT TRIP IN OPEN TOP JEEP,WOULD DO BETTER IF THEY SERVED FOOD UP THERE, AS IT WOULD MAKE A LOVELY RESTARAUNT. SERVICE NOT THAT GOOD.

Margaret B

Well now what can I reveal about this super special bar up in the hills of Kalamaki!! I have been there a couple of times with my daughter and grandaughter. It was recommended to us last year by a waiter at Paris Restaurant and we never seemed to have the time to go! However this June we discovered what must be the most special night time romantic trendy unique bar in Zante! You even get a free ride to the Cave Bar in a jeep! I confess to sneaking back there even later in the evening when my daughter and grandaughter were asleep to continue to enjoy the excellent cocktails, views over Kalamaki and Laganas and the company of many handsome local guys who I got to know very well over the 2 weeks of my holiday. On the very last night I met a wonderful sexy guy who took me for a very romantic late night drive!!!! Well I mean why do you think I can't wait to get back there? If you are reading this see you in September Takis!! So we can make up for lost time!!!

Andrew A

We really liked this place. First time we got the jeep up and sat actually in the cave. Second time we got a horse and cart (10€ from Down Under, which is a bit expensive but fun!) and we sat in the terrace, which had a great view. Drinks were fairly reasonable. This seemed to be the poshest bar in Kalamaki!

Sophie L

We really liked the cave bar, it was so scenic and the jeep ride up was loadsa fun! Up there you can watched the sun set (we watched it at about 8.30) on the turrent overlooking Kalamaki and turtle island. It is also fun to have a drink in the cave on the little wooden stools.

We also saw a shooting star, and loads of constilations. It is really pretty up there.
Anyway, its a nice peaceful place to go.

Sandie S

By far the nicest chill out pub on the resort, everyone liked it young and old. Good music and great surrondings. Even have a free jeep which transports you from the main road! What more could you want apart from to own it. Oh a tip when wanting the jeep to pick you up block the front light out at the bottom of the steeps( only a few) and he will come straight up.

Barry T

Thought this was the best Bar in the resort. Ideal for that chill after eating out. Service was good and the people friendly. Don't bother with the Jeep it's a nice walk.

Mike B

An excellent setting, great views, the best place in Kalamaki to watch the sunset, but I agree with an earlier comment that this place should serve food - even if it's only bar snacks, I think it should also open earlier than 8pm.Recommended!

Sandra P

Nice setting, good atmosphere, service can be a liitle slow. The free ride to the cave is the best way to stay cool on a hot night

Lynne N

Lovely setting, nice drivers, reasonable prices, should serve food here as it is an excellent setting.

Lynette H

What an amazing place. The pictures just do not do this place justice! The views are amazing, the cocktails lovely. I'd love to go here again. If you go to Kalamaki this bar is one not to miss! Say hi to Rossie one of the guys who gives u a lift up.

Scary B

Found it very calm and relaxing! A gorgeous place to go for a quiet and relaxing drink!! the view over kalamaki is beautiful on an evening and the music was quality - not too loud just nice backing music
Plus you get to go up to the cave bar in a mini moke (or however you spell it)Deffinatly recommened it!!!

Charlotte L

lovely place-gorgeous views. well worth visiting, it really is a totally chilled out place to be...sit on the wall right at the top(make sure you dont fall off!) it really is a great windin down spot...

Barry H

Even if you visit this place just for one drink to what the sunset its worth it, well kept and well laid out, drinks were resonably priced but the views were fantastic even if the cave was a bit grotty. Take advantage of the free buggy (tip bucket on board)if you have kids although its still not that bad a climb.

Manu W

the most beatiful bar I have ever seen.

Carol W

Excellent bar - great location - extremely friendly staff - cocktails YUMMY - Couldn't find a better bar - will be coming back soon!!!!

Clare R

This is a bar for couples - you are unlikely to find any miniskirt-clad girls dancing on the bar (thank goodness!). The view is enviable and the jeep drive up there makes it all the more interesting. Part of the bar is in a small cave (with only 3 tables) which is lovely - if a little cold - and the fear of an earthquake leaving you stuck there forever, (or a fear of spiders) may make you venture outside again!!

Dave

brilliant, beautiful view , i will recommend it to anyone.

Sarah B

Loved the jeep ride!! Beautiful surroundings, lovely view from the tower. Would be ideal on a warm evening. Definately one to try even if only for the view!

Shane H

This is a must place to go and have a dink, by far the most chilled out bar in the resort, with an ambience that other bars would kill for.

Heather

Great atmosphere, fantastic views, beautiful setting, excellent service. Nowhere else like it. (Yiannis - Number 5 was the best part of the holiday!)

Nick L

Certainly a class above the rest of the bars in Kalamaki. The guy who runs the joint is a real cool old boy......lock up your ladies fellas!!!

Great to get the castle top area for yourselves for a romantic time under the moon light!!

Sheila W

All I can say is thanks to Nikos, Stella & Yianni for making a major contribution to a very good holiday. Spent every evening at the Cave bar, it was different from the run of the mill other bars in Kalamaki, everyone should go there.

F G

Beautiful place, the free ride ride up there cools you down with the breeze. Its a chilled out relaxing place, nice way to start your evening, plus you get some great photo's for when you get home. I drowned myself in insect repellent at night and didn't get bitten once the entire holiday, not even here!! Worth a visit if just the once!!

Darren K

Great place to chill out & get eaten to pieces by mosies!
Music was mellow.
Cocktails very good & inexpensive.
Hunks! I'm not into, but if your a girl I'm sure you'll like it.
Babes, nice barmaid, plenty of talent, but most of them were with there other half.
Not a lot of good if your on the pull!
Downunder is probably a safe bet for pulling.

Ian M

Really nice place. It only opened for the season on our last two nights unfortunately, otherwise we'd have spent the week there watching the sun go down over the bay. The staff are very chilled and friendly. A vey special place and must be experienced for the views, sunset and atmosphere.

Nicki L

Best bar, best staff, best views and best cocktails, anywhere, and I can still smell the scents of all the great plants that surround you while you chill out to the smooth music! Why go anywhere else?!

Jane B

This was our fave bar in Kalamaki. We came here on our first night, and got very drunk before heading off for a nice meal. The setting is lovely & it's very romantic!

David W

brilliant,peaceful, lovely setting. fantastic views.

Debbie F

lovely setting and well worth a two minute walk up the hill... (lazier people take the free buggy ride)

Richard & Sarah

The place to be to watch sunset in Kalamaki. Lovely location which is far enough away from the main strip not to be drowned out by the noise from next door. Good chill out spot. You must go.

Sue C

This is one of the prettiest bars in Kalamaki. Visit at sundown for lovely view over the water to Laganas. Free buggy ride up hill, lovely cocktails and good music, Very friendly staff and a place for young and old. Kids love the turrett. Really nice place to have a drink before your evening meal,or just a place to relax and chill out. Prices more or less the same as anywhere, so defintely a place to visit at least once.

John J

AN EXCELLANT NIGHT, FREE BUGGY RIDE UP TO THE BAR BY DAVE, VERY NICE MAN. VERY WARM WELCOME, GOOD DRINKS AT GOOD PRICES. THE MUSIC WAS FANTASTIC AS WELL AS THE VIEWS A MUST. THE FEMALE BAR STAFF MMMMM

Troy R

I'm told one of only 2 places where you can see a spectacular sunset - and it was !. The drinks were very reasonable. Watch out for the mosquitos though - little blighters dined on me as if it were going out of fashion. Dress rules require the wearing of a top for gents (as we found out one night) :)

Judith E

this was a wonderful setting, very unusual. make sure you go to the top of the turrett and see a sunset. prices weren't bad either.

Charlotte D

probably the nicest bar in kalamaki. great views, great cocktails, lovely staff, chilled atmosphere, no annoying as f**k theme night/karaoke. what more could you want...

Rachel & Lee

After we had heard so many people go on about the cave bar we thought we would have to go and have a look for ourselves, and it was really amazing and you should go and have a look for yourselves.

Tim F

Really nice bar, the cave itself is a bit smelly (damp) but you can sit in the bar or on the top of the tower looking over Kalamaki/Laganas/the Airport etc. The music was good but could have done with changing the tapes around as we heard the same one every night! And you getfree transport up from the town (don't really need it though as it's a nice 5 minute walk to cool you down and walk off the meal!!

Beverley M

Myself, hubby and daughter (6) have just returned from a great holiday in Kalamaki. Spent a number of very good nights at the Cave Bar and found their hospitality and friendliness to be 2nd to none. Children were most definitely welcome! The courtesy transport took the edge off the walk even though it wasn't that far anyway! Try their tequila slammers (with a slice of of orange sprinkled with cinnamon)Superb!

Sue C

Does this bar allow children as it says on kalamaki website it's for the over 25's. Help please

Ian M

Been to Kalamaki 4 times and this was the 1st time to the Cave bar. Well we went 3 times it was that nice, very unusual in an excellent setting. Definately worth a visit. Yamas.

Declan G

Visited this bar last Thursday evening ( 23rd May ), very nice looking and the plants round the bar are very pretty ( lots of insects due to the plants, did not bother me, but the wife was getting a little agitated ). Drinks were a little more expensive than the other bars we visited, but not too much more as long as you keep the other half of the Bacardi Breezer's.

Sue M

Arrived in Kalamaki on 6th May and went to see if the Cave bar was open every day(It opened late due to unsettled weather in 1st wk) We were not disappointed. Most drinks appeared either the same price or cheaper. The cocktails were approx. 50cents dearer (35p) but you can taste the difference. If certainly recommend the Hunny Bunny, especially when served in a pina colada glass! Make an effort to visit this place, it's beautiful.

Ken B

cave bar was just a little bit more classy than the rest.I didn't notice that it was any more expensive than anywhere else.

Suzette D

We loved the Cave Bar and we did not find it much more expensive than anywhere else in Kalamaki. It is a very pleasant walk up the hill after a meal and the cocktails we had were very good, went about three times wanted to go again but it closed down the middle of our second week. Not busy enough end of season.

Pam R

Amazing place, absolutely loved it,OK it may be a bit more expensive than some of the other bars but the setting and style of the place is fantastic! Was a bit disapointed that it suddenly closed as we wanted to go there on our last night, they could have put a notice on the board at the bottom of the hill!

Sharon B

Loved it. And dare I say when we first arrived they were playing 80's music (okay, showing my age) gradually working up to more modern. I know this is going to get mixed reactions but hey, it is what it is. Like it says in it's adverts - it's just a bar, nothing more. It was a nice evening and we were sorry we didn't have time in the week to visit twice. It's worth a visit just to ride in the moke up the hill - you can always walk it of course, but why...

Charlie B

Went to the Cave bar on our last night also, the view is superb and the setting is very nice only thing against it are the prices of the drinks in there. 1 bacardi and coke and a Strongbow came to 2500dr = £5. And when you are used to 1400dr in Cavo d'oro!!! Well worth a visit but it wouldn't be the local over there.

John T

Only went on the last day of the holiday to watch the sunset. If only we had gone sooner! Fantastic setting - great music.

Richard A

Best bar on the island! Lovely setting, and view over Kalamki and bay. Set in a real life cave and castle!

Mark R

Nice place,cocktails,staff,views.Recommend it.

Marcus S

Lucy and I just got back on Monday, and visited the Cave Bar a few times. Its a wicked bar with a small castle like tower which has a great view over Kalamaki. The bar is done out a treat and the flowers smell delicious. Prices were fine, had a few drinks, Luce loved the gin fizz... good music and busy, but not too packed. Very friendly staff....would recommend it! Watch for the night lit sign on the hillside.

Herbub

Our family really enjoyed the Cave Bar. My little girl insisted we go there again. Each time we had one drink. The Cave bar is very pretty and the view is great. I must say the music is very very loud. They do play good music so for a trendy mum this was not bad. We were staying in the Cavo'doro studios and listened to the music every night till late. As already mentioned the music was good so we did not mind singing along to the songs while having a sit down on our terrace. Go there and see if it is your type of thing!

Flip F

simon why didnt linda complain, i hope u didnt moan at her all night about the price of the drinks, poor girl. linda u sound very nice, and i hope u both have a great holiday nexed year. Yamas.

Flip F

Dear simon your comments are very wecome 2 every 1,but i think u are a little sensitive. I dont think the owner would want 2 con u or any 1,or may be he did so u wouldnt go back. U sound a very nice man and palm trees in southends mud would be great, but i think the drinks would stay the same.

Simon A

No flipperty flop I am not a Flintstone I am an opinionated discerning consumer. I presumed the nature of this feedback facility was to express opinions. Thanks for your explanation of expensive drinks, it's the owners instantly recouping their capital outlay on palm trees. Southend isn't that where poor Southern oiks go to get overcharged for bad service and then lulled by glitsy surroundings presume they are having an OK time. Not for me I think

Flip F

Simon are u a flintstone? U think u were over charged 4 2 spirits, and 2gin and tonics at 3000 draks that is aprox £6.00. does the owner of the cave bar need people like u only spending 3000 draks. He spent £40.000 on the cave last year 2 keep it up 2 his own high standard. yes the drinks are slightly more, but this will keep out the yob element, and the ones who winge. Anyway if u want cheaper drinks n BOMBER cocktails go 2 Laganas, thats why the drinks at the cave are more because its the real thing.if u want cheap go 2 cheap bars, and have BOMBER and tonic, sorry gin and tonic. Have agood time in Southend nexed year.

Samantha M

I totally agree with you Fiona. I think the Cave Bar is an excellent place. Simon - if you want cheaper drinks then go and find them but I bet they won't be as nice as the Cave Bar!

Simon A

Yes Fiona disapointing as it may be to you, I do know what I am talking about. I was there and that is what I was charged. Doubtless the barperson decided to try and make a little extra by fleecing the seemingly mug punter. It does happen to us tourists. When it does it's a good idea to put others on their guard. You may choose to ignore the advice but please don't slag people of for giving it.

Webmaster

I like this bar. It looks expensive, but drinks prices are fairly average, and you get served at your table. Your kids will love it! It's like an adventure playground. Well worth of walk up the hill. Recommended.

Fiona J

Cave Bar is the most beautiful bar on the island, well worth a visit, as for simon whats his face he obviously does not know what he's talking about - everywhere sells their drinks at the same price! 500 drx for a pint of amstell- you just can't go wrong! Friendly staff and chilled out atmosphere - made our holiday.

Elaine M

It's set in the side of a mountain. It's where the local men go - so it's worth a visit. The rest of the bars are mainly English. You need to take a taxi there if not it's a long walk. But taxis are very reasonable so it's worth it. Nico - the owner is very pleasant and music is good.

Simon A

3000 dr for two Sprites and two gin & tonics! Nice view, nice rip off.

Suzanne H

Nice view over Kalamaki, make sure you wear mosquito protection tho'! Lots of pretty plants and good music.

Neil G

Worth the walk in the heat for the view, Very pretty, climbing plants, including jasmine. Had to wait for a seat, but worth the wait. You must arrive in the daylight to appreciate the scenery.

Matt U

Amstel on tap, Fantastic sunsets from ontop the ramparts, chilled music and atmos. Bravo Rea!!!

Barbara M

The Best bar in Zakynthos, classy bar, superb cocktails and the friendliest DJ/Barman Nico.. VarvaraXXX!!!!! Nico some more DR Hook please!!

Natasha K

Paul
