Kalamaki Beach

Beaches in Zante

Donna L

How for is Kalamaki Beach from the Athina studios, Argassi?

Vicki S

Just returned from a week in Kalamaki
We visited Crystal Beach on a number of occasions and were very impressed.
Kept clean daily, and a nice fruit salad available from the stall on the beach, didnt see any turtles though, but there were quite a few nests dotted about.
The only thing i would say is beware of the little fish lurking in the sea, they bite your feet and ankles!!!!

Mark H

Beach was rather busy, noticed lots of cigarette ends scattered all over - not nice for the little ones to play in. Had more fun at the poolside.

Andrew A

It is a nice beach, but the number of cigarette ends on the beach is ridiculous. Sea is really shallow and if you want to do any snorkeling you have to go out for miles!

Margaret B

Yes Kalamaki beach is terrific! The lovely golden sandy beach is regularly kept clean of litter because it is an area of Scientific interest for the rare protected Loggerhead Turtles which nest on the beach. The sea is always clear and warm and you can see the turtles and fish swimming around you! Wonderful! I was there twice last year and I went back in June and I am going again in September this year! So how's that for confidence and love of Kalamaki Beach. Actually Crystal Beach is the best area, directly in front of Crystal Beach Hotel and the famous Crystal Rock. You will not be dissapointed.

Sj

Hey, im flying 2 Kalamaki on the 21st Aust, wid my bestest buddy and my mum and dad, we r 16 and wondered if ant1 is only the same time as us?? email me if u wanna

Sandie S

Nikki im sure your hotel is about 15mins walk to the beach and there are 3 beaches there although i can only vouch on visiting two.

Nikki P

Hi, i am coming to kalmaki with my family in october, i was wondering if any1 knew how far the amaryllis aparthotel is from the beaches, also how many beaches is there in kalamaki? thanx alot.

Georgie W

Hi, I am comimg to Kalamaki on Thurs 14th Aug 03 and I am going with my mum and dad for one week, I am 14! Anyone with any good tips for days out or coming at the same time e-mail me at georgie864@hotmail.com x x x

Sandie S

Ecellent clear water beach. The water heats up very fast and is full of small fishes which will come very close if you disturb the sand. Unfortunately i saw no turtles only the nesting sites. This resort has three beaches although i only visited the first two. Sun beds are around 8 euros for two all day. A clean beach with clam water although there is a nice breeze which is welcome in the afternoon.

Paul S

Tassos villas are on the beach road, past the Escape taverna, oppositethe small shopping 'kiosk'.Top class, no pool, but not a problem.John & Joys is next door with a good pool.

Kerry R

i stayed at two bros appart at kalimaki last year. accommdation ok very basic and no it's not that far from the beach about a 5 to 10 min walk. down under def a good bar and restaurant dias top place to eat.

Cassie G

Me and my mates stayed in Laganas but went to Kalamaki beach. it was much quieter than our beach and was nice for a more relaxing day. the water was lovely and warm and the sand, brilliant and hot.

Zoe W

We Stayed in 'Hotel Crystal Beach-Kalamaki'. The Hotel Was Great Always There For Help If Needed. The Water-Sea Was All Crystal Clear, You Could See The Bottom How Deep You Swam!!!Not Like Englands.
The Public/Villagers Were All Kind And Egar To Make You Feel Welcome.
The Cafes We Loved The Most In Kalamaki Was 'Point-Break' And 'Tazis'. The Best NightLife You Would Have To Go To 'Laganas' But If You Wanted Something Closer Go To Either 'Angels' Or 'Down Under'. You Should Really Go Youll Enjoy It.

Alan C

We stayed in kalamaki last year and had a great time, everyone was so friendly, so we decided to go bak this year. Does anyone know where Tasos Villas are in relation to the main street, we have booked this on the recomendation of a local person, everything looks great, but we can't work out where it is!!!

Barry H

The beach itself was a bit of a let down in appearance, however it is safe to swim if you have kids as it is a very gentle slope and you can actually wade out quite far and its still very shallow. The ionian sea is probably one of the more salty that ive swam in.
Between 3.30pm and 5pm is apparantly the best time to see the turtles and most people saw 2 or 3 by hiring a pedelo for 10 euros for an hour although i only saw one and i was snorkling off the pedelo at the time and i was surprised by the size of it they are huge !!! There was no foot showers on hand anywhere which was also a bit annoying as i had to wait until i got back to my hotel to rinse the sand off.

Sandie S

hi im going in july and staying at the two brothers hotel. anyone know how far it is to the beach?

Bill H

Akis at Cava D'oro. stop messing about on web, and do some work !
Only Joking. Had a great stay (again) in Kalamaki. Love to all at Cava D'oro, see you next year. Buy some more ouzo in! - Bill & Carol

Bill H

Cathy, trip to Denny's from airport is approx 2 miles. It should cost about 7-9 Euros. Well worth the money, as it saves hanging about. Do let Reps know at the airport though.

Cathy A

How far is it from Zante Airport to Dennys Inn, Kalamaki? This is our first visit and we do not have transfers arranged so wondered how much it would cost by taxi.

Paul K

Going to staty at the Caretta Beach Hotel....do they have Air-conditioning and how much is it to have it turned on per week?

Kay W

Stayed at Dennys Inn for 2 weeks from 8th May. Lovely friendly hotel and very clean with good size pool. Quiet location but only 2 minutes walk to beach and 5 minutes to restaurants and shops. Loved it so much have already booked for same hotel next year. May is a good time to hire pedallos and see the turtles in the bay. If you want to hire a car you can get the best deals by walking 7-8 minutes to main road where they do early season offers such as 3 days for price of 2, all in with no hidden charges. DO NOT GET THROUGH TOUR REPS!!!

Tracey D

Hire a motorboat and take yourself out to see the turtles - fantastic!

Make sure you only idle about once you go out because they won't come up to you if you are speeding along (and be prepared they are bloody huge!!!!!)

Lauren D

Going to Kalamaki on July 21st. Anyone who is 14-17 going around the same time for my daughter can email me. Been berfore! gorgeous weather, beach and food. Strongly recomend Machelos??? Amazing resturaunt and fantastic service and very friendly.

Dave P

Just come back from a weeks break in Kalamaki on 26th May 2003, the beach is excellent, really good for a stroll along to Laganas although I would recommend that you turn around and walk straight back to Kalamaki when you reach Laganas beach. Beds at the west end of the beach were 8 euros for 2 beds + umbrella for a day, you could get them for 5 euros towards the east end. Will definately go back.

Robert T

Nice relaxed beach, clean sea, and good for snorkelling.
If you want to see a turtle, hire a pedalo from Kalamaki and go out 200 metres - we saw 3 in just 45 minutes, and my wife swam with one of them! No need to go anywhere else for the turtles, but if you do for other reasons, use the 'Taxi Rank' as your return destination (all the taxi drivers in Laganas know it).

Saffie C

just about to go for first time how much spending money should i need for me and son aged 14yrs? going b&b, will give my opinion when we get back going 10th july to denny's inn.

D Y

Great resort and good beach
Returned with allover tan from being at far end under cliffs.
Good weather all week 1-8th May @ 30C
Beach still being tidied but clean by end of week
Just remember the sun cream as strong sun and drink lots water. Sea was good but few turtles.

Returning in june for a well earned rest and will be visiting kalamaki at some point. Have to agree with Juliet Huges excellent place for a all over tan. Juliet if you return to Zante try Gerakas beach I'm sure you will find it even better, the nude bathing is at the far end, enjoy!

Simone L

Following on from the message below. If there are any teenage girls that will be in Kalamaki mid August and went to exchange emails/ letters etc with my daughter prior to the holiday , our email address is.... carlsimbec@roehamp.fsnet.co.uk

Simone L

Went there October 2001. Had excellent time . We are returning again mid August for 2 weeks with our 15 year old daughter. If there are anmy other people that will be in Kalamaki at the same time as us with teenage girls, would be interested to hear from you.

Juliet H

The very far end of kalamaki beach ( away from Laganas ) is Nude, its well out of the way but it was a real buzz going nude for the first time, we returned several times and it was the best of the whole holiday.

Its not sleezy... six girls from London had a great time there and we will all do it again.

A great ALL-OVER-TAN and almost the best fun you can have with your clothes OFF !!!!

Bring lots of sun block - you need it all over !!!

Bring your drinks and snacks as there is no shop near by.

GIVE IT A GO ----

Carli S

i'm off to Zante on the 17th June, 2003, we are a young group going, just wondering if any knows roughly how much its costs to get to Laganas by Cab in the evening! cheers x

Angela B

Hi ...Does anyone know if there are any motorboat hire places in Kalamaki or Laganas??Cheers..

Nicola B

Hi, Just wondered if anyone can tell me how much they charge for the sun loungers on Kalamaki beach. Also though its not relevant to this section roughly how much is a taxi to laganas
Thanks -Nicola

Kay W

I am a single parent taking my 13 year old son to Dennys Inn on 8th May 2003 for 2 weeks. Is anyone else going there who has children around his age who like swimming and most sports.

Bob B

I have had holidays in Kalamaki in Aug 2000 and Sep/Oct 2001 and stayed at Denny's Inn Hotel. Kalamaki is an ideal choice, ideal for young children and ideal for the "older Children" who like it quiet during the day but a little more lively at night as Laganas is 3Km away. The Beach is superb, but please take your litter and cigarette ends away with you. Don't go out too early to eat at night...............!

Gillian Y

We were in Kalamaki in May last year, it was the best beach I have ever been on, especially if you like turtle watching. You can wade really far in and still only be waist high. So good going back this year.

Simon P

My favourite beach on the whole island. There is a section (albeit unofficial) for Naturists to the far-left of the beach which I partook of and felt very relaxed and not intimidated by non-naturists. Facing south,it certainly is a sun-trap so if you are far-skinned then use lots of sun-cream when you visit Kalamaki.

Dawn

Crystal Beach (the Kalamaki end of this beach) is still one of my favourites on the island. Its one of the reason I always stay in Kalamaki. Nicos tends the beach with a lovely smile and plenty of advice about the weather.

Andy J

it was very nice the sand was soft and the sea was calm

Paul M

Good beach ,not far from the town. Portaloo available if you are desperate

Ade P

we have been going to zante the last 7 years and always walk along the beach to lagana. you can go out about 300 yrds and tall people can still sand up

Steve B

Good safe beach - sand slopes out very gently and the sea heats up very quick. The very top end (turn left when you reach the water) is used by nudists - for those inclined to burn even more of their flesh)and there is a second almost deserted beach about 50 yds around the corner but this requires a walk along a jeep track or swim to reach however the sand isn't as good.

Roderick J

A very good beach, only spoilt by the disgusting number of cigarette butts that lay everywhere you looked. I made a point of taking mine away with me, or keeping together and putting in a bin at the end of the day. Why are some people so thoughtless? Didn't see one turtle all two weeks of our holiday.

Mike O

Spent a few nice days and afternoons on this beach. Handy because we stayed in Kalamaki anyway. Went to the beach after dark and saw a turtle on the sand!! Cool. It is a long walk from Argassi, Best hire a car or get the bus. Definately a car ride to Tsivili. Gerakas beach (Great), Generally a nice holiday had, Maybe a little too english....

Troy R

This beach was excellent. The water was so shallow you could literally go out around 150 yds and you were still only upto your waist !. Really safe for kids. the sand (although a bit gritty in places) was brilliant. - our 3 yr old loved knocking down the sand castles I'd made for him !. Didn't see any turtles, but we'll be back perhaps next year so they won't escape us then !

Claire L

kalamaki beach was lovely, the only problem is for all those people who like skinny dipping in the early hours of the morning, no chance.kalamaki have freinds that appear from the sea known as turtles, and you wont be able to go on the beach after 8 and untill 7 in the morning!but other than that i think you will find you wont spend that much time on the beach because its too hot!.

John M

GREAT BEACH, SAFE FOR KIDS, BUT PLEASE REMEMBER THE TURTLES OWN THIS BEACH,HIRE A PEDELO FOR 10 EUROS, FOR UP TO FOUR PEOPLE FOR 1HR, ABOUT 4.30PM IS THE BEST TIME TO SEE THE TURTLES,ITS WELL WORTH IT, JUST KEEP A LOOKOUT FOR THEM SURFACING FOR AIR,TRY NOT TO CROWD THEM THOUGH, TAKE A CAMERA.

Rachel & Lee

Kalamki beach is lovely, the water is so clear. It can be quite busy, but there are plenty of little quite spots and there is always spare sunlongers etc. The planes do go over the beach but it is not too often and it is quite amazing to see them.

Jonathan M

I have never seen such crystal clear blue water-it is truely one of the cleanest beaches in all of Europe! Safe for kids and non-swimmers. Only drawback is the tourists tossing cigarettes onto the sand.

Emma W

*READ*: - For a good holiday get a taxi into Laganas (£3) on the beach there you can higher a small boat for £20 for the whole day. The Island is surrounded with smaller islands just off shore, totally untouched, they something out of a movie, totally unbelievable. This made our holiday, we went to rent a boat nearly everyday to get the islands full potential. A once in a life time experience.

Natasha B

Great Beech, and water was just the right temperature. We took peadaols out to see the turtles but unfortunatly didn't see any although we came across a nudist beech, so unless u want a shock be careful. All in all Kalamaki beech is great and I would reccomend it to anyone, whatever age u are.

Sarah M

I am looking for 3 or more girls aged 20-35 who are going on holiday to Zante between now and the middle of August for a TV documentary. If you fit the bill and are going on holiday over the next month, or if you know anyone who is, then please email Sarah at films@zkktv.com or ring me on 0207 482 5885.

Louise W

i loved the beach it was the best one that i know of and the shop and taverna near by was great two

Gary E

Very good beach with a gentle slope into the sea ,ideal for kids.In my oppinion the best time to see the turtles if you intend to use a pedalo is late afternoon [around 5pm ] but make sure there's no breeze which causes the sea to become choppy which make it difficult to see beneath the sureface.

Sharon H

Excellent beach, brillant for the kids, lovely walk to the next resort of Laganas, pedols 10 euro for 1 hour, boat trips to see the turtles are well worth it, if you don't see a turtle you get your money back....we saw lots of them they are huge, it made the holiday.

Graham W

excellent beach. you want quiet, just walk towards lagana and you will find it on the empty stretch between the two resorts.

Phil F

Brilliant beach. Pedalo only 10 euro for 1 hour. Considering the cost of boat trips to see turtles, it is excellent value, we went twice. Turtle spotting from pedalo highlight of holiday.

Lindsey R

The beach is excellent. Crystal clear warm water and can see all the fish swimming round your ankles. Pedalos expensive but well worth it to see the turtles which are huge! Sea very calm so can float round on a lilo. Normally sea breeze so very easy to burn!

Kylie A

Kalamaki beach is great. It is very clean on the beach and the sea is very clear and warm to swim in. It is also great when you hire a peddle boat and see the turtles! :)

Tina B

ITS ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. OUT OF THIS WORLD. WE HAVE BEEN GOING NOW FOR 5YRS ALWAYS SEEN THE LOVELY TURTLES.GOOD CLEAN BEACH. WELL STOCKED SHOP NEARBY FOR THOSE ICE COLD DRINKS.WELL WORTH HIRING A PEDLO BOAT AS YOU SEE THE TURTLES IN THIER NATURAL SURROUNDINGS. ROLL ON JUNE 13TH .SEE YOU THEN MR TURTLE

Kevin B

it's the nuts!!!!we have been the last 5 yrs and are going again june 13th this year .... CAN'T WAIT !!!!!!

Ross M

It was Ace. Really clean and it was great with the water being so close. Spent alot of time on the beach and walking back and forth to Laganos along the beach. Great!!!

Tina

Everything about Kalamki is wonderful!!! i HIGHLY recomend it!! You'll love it!!!

Teresa B

I really enjoyed the walk from lagans to kalamaki i really recomend that everyone dose the walk

Michael

This beach was fantastic once you get away from the sunloungers. go down to the beach and turn left, walk past the sunloungers where you'll find a quite stretch of beach - don't go right to the end unless your up for abit of nude bathing. Great for snorkeling espacially by the rocks.

Chris

Back from Kalamaki - the beach was a lot dirtier than 15 years ago - but still beautiful. At least the guys hiring sunbeds were also distributing ashtrays ... such a pity that people still chose not to use them. The resort was a lot livelier - far too many 'Best English breakfast on the island'/'Sunday Roasts' for my tastes but then I went to Laganas for the night, which was truly, truly dreadful. Still a beautiful island.

The C

Does anyone have the telephone number or email address for the down under cocktail bar in Kalamaki? we have just got back from kalamaki and wish to make contact with them. If anyone else that has been to this bar and would like to share experiences we would love to hear from you. Email me on beck148@hotmail.com

Charlie B

I agree the beach was a bit dirtier this year but that aside. You still have the "dounut" and "fruit salad" man walking around and sun loungers are still at a good price 2500dr a day. This year we did alot of snorkling at Kalamaki beach and were amazed at the amount of fish you could get to surround you if you brought a couple of slices of bread with you. Also Starfish, hermit crabs and flat fish all over the place.

Liz

Kalamaki Beach is the same body of water as Laganas -- it is about two miles away. It seems like people are migrating from Laganas to Kalamaki Beach because of the previous being so crowded. But, unfortunately, this beach is not as clean as it was last year as more people are using it. The cigarette butts, soda cans, potato chip bags, etc. were almost as bad as Laganas. The water itself, though, is lovely -- crystal clear and warm.

Dean M

Well this beach is a good one considering it is in a resort. Well my partner saw some baby turtles{3}.We had only been there on holiday for a few days so that made it for us.Other tourists need to learn about waste disposal as some have a total disregard for other peoples enjoyment and the turtles welfare.Go late afternoon about 2pm and you may get the sun loungers and umbrellas free we did on a few occassions.

Kirsty V

the kalamaki beach was lovely. clean, sea was warm and good for kids. but the fish nip at your ankles!!

Chris

I went to Kalamaki around 15 years ago and I'm visiting again in a couple of weeks and I can't wait. I guess it's changed but it still sounds lovely. Anyone know anything about the Koulas Apartments?

Em O

We have just returned from Kalamaki and have had an excellent holiday. We stayed at the Cronulla and recommend it to all. The sea is safe and especially warm!!! Did not spot a turtle but it is coming to the end of the season.

Hayley B

Please don't expect to see turtles just because it says so in the holiday brochures! Me and my boyfriend went to kalamaki at the end of August in 1998 and we were there for two weeks. We never saw a single turtle! Never even saw one on the two boat trips we went on!! Saw plenty of jellyfish though! even got stung by one! Not recommended! Top tip for bites and stings is to go to a local shop/supermarket where u will be able to pick up an ointment in a white tube with a roller ball on the end! It smells, but stops itches and stings!! Happy holidays!!!

Herbub

This beach is very safe for children. You can walk a little further towards laganas and find the beach less busy. Kalamaki beach never felt overcrowed at any time during our high season holiday. IT WOULD BE BETTER IF US TOURIST WOULD NOT LEAVE RUBBISH ON THE BEACH. I COULD NOT BELEIVE THE AMOUNT OF CIGERETTE ENDS BY THE SUN BEDS. THIS IS ONLY IN A SMALL AREA - SO DONT BE PUT OFF. BUT I CAN NOT BELIEVE PEOPLE CAN HAVE SUCH BAD MANNERS. I am a smoker and every last cigerette end was put in a bin on leaving the beach. There is no excuse. The turtles had been laying eggs on the beach - be aware that you do not use the beach behind the sun beds and that distance of the whole beach. It was not very clear but they need to have these areas protected. IF YOU ARE GOING TO KALAMAKI BEACH YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME. THE BEACH IS GREAT AND VERY SAFE FOR CHILDREN BECAUSE IT IS SO SHALLOW.

Leanne S

We saw a turtle too on one of the boat trips which was great - felt a bit sorry for it though being boxed in by 3 - 4 boats which kind of made me wish these thing were more regulated. PLEASE show some respect to these beautiful creatures by respecting the no parasol and no night swimming rule. after all they were there first. beach is lovely if you walk from the crowds. safe and great for snorkling

Laurie A

Why does everyone monopolise the first 100 metres of the beach? I'm glad they do cos if you walk a little further you'll have a lovely secluded spot away from the crowds.... Get a parasol - definate requirement. Kalamaki beach thorughly recommended - unless you hire a car and get out to some even better ones... Walked to laganas from Kalamaki along the beach (1 hour) - it's secluded for ages until you approach Laganas and then people sit on top of each other - literally. Hire a boat or get an hour trip to see the turtles from Laganas beach - we did and saw lots, swam with them too, excellent experience.

Steve H

Great for the kids. Go out on a pedalo and see a turtle, we did and we saw one. It was excellent!! Harborne and Walker Family

Jenni L

We were staying in Laganas but walked down to Kalamaki a few times. On our last visit, we were waist deep in water when a loggerhead turtle swam right next to us, close enough to touch. It stayed near us for ages and was one of the highlights of the holiday. It kept sticking it's head out the water and was absolutely amazing to see close up. Only downside - ugly skinny bloke nude sunbathing nearby.

Dave E

Take a snorkel and swim with the turtles, they're friendly and move slowly. Look ot for E371 (Tag on rear right claw)

Kirsty C

THIS BEACH IS CLEAN,SAFE AND IS ONE OF THE BEST BEACHES ON THE ISLAND FOR SPOTTING THE TURTLES PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN SUN BATHING AS THIS IS THE MAIN NESTING BEACH FOR CARRETTA-CARRETTA,CLOSED AT NIGHT TIME FROM 8PM

John M

GREAT BEACH ,THE BEST WAY TO SEE THE TURTLES IS BY HIRING A PEDELO,£5 FOR 1 HOUR,AT APPROX 4.30PM

Jean-pierre

I forgot to tell that the best period to see the turtles is between may and mid august.

Jean-pierre

We were there the last two weeks and hired a pedalo to see if we could see some turtles and yes we could follow them under the water fore about twenty minutes, it was just great. The beach is 3 km south of the airport and 5 km east of Laganas. The airplane noise didn't disturb us much as there are so many noisy pubs especially in Laganas. Kalamaki is a nice place to stay.

Liz L

Do you see the turtles quite a lot at all times in the year? can you see them on most beaches? where about is this beach on Zante? is it in argassi?

Jonathan V

Took three chidren and found the beach uncrowded, clean and enjoyable. Hired a pedalo and saw five turtles. At night the beach is deserted due to the curfew (to protect the turtles) - a drink and meal at the Crystal Beach hotel (literally alongside the beach)thus provides views of the sunset, a deserted beach and just the sound of the waves lapping on the shore. Brilliant. Laganas - no thanks!

Debs

If you've got young children head for this resort. We hired a car and came here to see the turtles it was lovely and quiet compared to rest of beaches. We stayed in Argasi and the beach is a real let down. Here there was plenty of space and it was lovely and sandy beach. It is a bit of a walk down to the beach though, especially if you have to take a buggy, which you will have fun dragging along the beach. Watch out for the nudist beach to the left right at the end of the beach if you've nosy children. Deb and family

Nick N

Check out the far end of Kalamaki bay. Once you are at he Crystal Beach Hotel you walk to your left, pass over the rocks and you enter a new world. If you are a man who prefers men do not miss it. It's a must.

Phillip L

Excellent go see the turtles. Clean, water safe, excellent for all the family.

Lee W

A good clean relaxing beach, no nasties in the sea to put the kids off, swimming with the turtles is a must, as is lunch at Stani's watch out for Dennis the owner of the Taverna and pedalos, he took my daughter and us out for 30 mins in his boat so she could see the turtles, Free of charge. The perfect setting for a lazy sun soaking day.

Nicky H

This was a nice clean beach. It was not overcrowded and ideal for soaking up the sun. It is also the best place to see the turtles. They are just there in the water and you can go right up and swim with them. Other than this Kalamaki is a very quite resort - not much going on. You need to go to Laganas if you want to see any action.

Roger

Just returned home aftr a superb hoiday at kalamaki. Ate out in different restaurants evey night, not a single gripe about any of them. Locls very friendly,I would say approx 90% of tourists were Brits. Very much a resort for families and older people. Laganas is the place for young disco/ nightlife lovers. Beware the roads! Hiring cars and especially motorcycles can be a VERY hairy experience as I found out personally!

Lee F

Beach Very nice ! hired a pedalo and managed to see a turtle and take some photo's close up. definatly worth a trip down there. driving is a bit hairy !! - I would get the bus next time !

Connie B

Just got back yesterday, this was my favorite beach, the turtles were lovely.

John M

THE BEACH AT KALAMAKI IS IDEAL FOR CHILDREN AND SWIMMERS AND SNORKLERS. THE WATER IS CRYSTAL CLEAR AND THERE ARE NO POSERS. INFACT I SURGEST THAT PEOPLE WHO WANT TO POSE ABOUT ON A BEACH SHOULD TRY SOMEWHERE ELSE, ST TROPEZ-- FOR EXAMPLE, BECAUSE THIS RESORT IS AIMED AT FAMILIES AND COUPLES,LIKE THE BROUCHER SAYS.PEOPLE WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT TAXI FARES TO THE BEACH ARE STOPPING AT THE WRONG RESORT,AND THE OTHER WHINGERS SHOULD BE PLANNING THEIR NEXT HOLIDAY FOR BLACKPOOL OR RHYL.

Anna J

i loved every minute of it. I cried when we had to leave. would love to go back - a beautiful, relaxing retreat

Ian G

Not sure what everyone else sees in this beach, with Laganas down the road!

Suzanne H

Brilliant beach, shallow, safe, good for kids especially with lilos. Pedalo trip is £5 an hour, good way to see the turtles, we also swam with them! Sunbeds are 1000 dr each for the day, with umbrella.

Simon W

Lovely beach, plenty of sunbeds. Shallow waters very safe for kids. Hire a pedalo to see the turtles (late afternoon is best) well worth it, much more satifying than a boat trip and we got great pictures too. It's a nice walk to Laganas along the beach and you don't need to worry about leaving your stuff. Can't wait to get back again this year. Highly recommended.

Dom

cheers m8. looks like i'll have 2 bring xtra money 4 taxi fares!

Rimmer

Dom - Also no watersports in Kalamaki or Lagana due to the Protection of the Turtles which nest on the beach at night. If your looking for a lively, clubbing holiday, then you may have got the wrong resort! Laganas is much more suited for this.

Rimmer

Dom - Nightlife in Kalamaki is very quiet with only a few bars / clubs. Your better of going in to Laganas (5 mins by taxi), which is very lively. There will be plenty of Taxis to bring you back at any time of night. Kalamaki has a great beach, but being a quiet resort the 'lovely' count may be a bit lower thwn say Laganas!

Dom

i will be in kalamaki the 1st two weeks in july with a mate. can anyone tell me what the nightlife is like, whether we can get a taxi from clubs at stupid hours of the morning and the watersports and prices availible. also any beaches full of lovely ladies!

John B

Brilliant for kids of any age including us big ones, soft golden sand but watch where you put your parasols(turtle nests!!!). For you poseurs a 10 minute stroll down beach to West & your in Laganas!

Fantastic beach. Water always calm. Lovely and peaceful and scenic. Belongings very secure. Not far from all facilities. Very relaxing. An absolute joy to swim with the turtles.
