Beach Bar - (Bars in Laganas)

Mr B  (26 June 2007)        7/10

Nice relaxing bar, with great music ( 60s / 70s /80s nights ! ) Good luck to Ryan for the season. Hope to see you and 'John Travolta' on the door next season.

Must Sports Bar - (Bars in Laganas)

Mr B          7/10

Great cocktails on the main strip ( Must Special is a must ! ) Hello Katie ! And the other Must Bar ( along the side road from Big Boys ) serves some good old-fashioned British food at a very reasonable price...try the Must Big Burger !

Chevys Bar - (Bars in Laganas)

Mr B          7/10

Nice relaxing bar to start your evening. Good food at a reasonable price. Cheap cocktails ( 2 for 5 euros ) Some are stronger than others. Recommend the 'After Eight'. Cheap internet access, and friendly staff.

Zeros - (Bars in Laganas)

Mr B          10/10

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlargeOur favourite bar in Laganas. Great music, and great fun with the bar staff. They're all talented boys, particularly the bar wizard himself George ( Mr Zeros ! ) Bar tricks, juggling, fire-shows, and other games will keep you  entertained for hours. After midnight, the bar splits in two. Go through the back for some good dance music, or stay in the front bar for the sounds of yesteryear.

Bon Appetit - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Mr B          9/10

click to enlargeOnly found the restaurant on our second last night, but wished we'd found it sooner. Great food, and friendly staff, particularly Artani. Happy Hour between 6.30p.m and 7.30p.m. - 10% off food bill. Well worth a try.

Laganas Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Mr B          8/10

Our favourite beach in all the Greek Isles we've been to. It's an extremely long beach, so everyone has plenty room. Sun loungers for hire at variable prices ( about 5 euros for two ). The sea is shallow for a good way out, and if you venture further, you might be lucky to spot a turtle !

The DVD/CD men will pester you many times a day, but a polite no thank-you normally does the trick !

Weekend trip to Athens by coach - (Zante Excursions)

Mr B          8/10

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlarge We went on the Athens trip and found it great value for money. Booked with local travel agent Nikos ( picture attached ) on the main strip in Laganas ( beside the beach, opposite Must bar ). Better prices than booking with your rep. and every bit as good. ( 92 euros each ) We use him every year. The bus journey can be a bit tiring, and they stop for lunch in the middle of nowhere where the cafes only serve large meals and no snacks, but it's all part of the experience. We didn't go on the 'bazooki' night, as we watched a live concert in Plaka square instead, but those who went said it was a great night.

The 'changing of the guard', and the visit to the Parthanon were well worth the visit.
The hotel room was nice, the breakfasts were sufficient, although I can't exactly rave about Greek Coco-Pops !

Avanti - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Mr B

Where exactly is the Avanti ? I can't remember seeing it, and we'll be going back to Laganas next year.

Thank-you

Zante Doro Studios - (Accommodation in Laganas)

Mr B          7/10

Stayed at Zante D'Oro the first two weeks in June. Apartments are clean and tidy, and well maintained by Irene and her husband. Linen changed three times over the two weeks. Accommodation is basic, but this is normal for Greek apartments. New this year are electric kettles in the rooms ! 100 metres to beach, and a 5 minute stroll to resort centre. You may encounter late night /early morning noise from the 'young and lively' at neighbouring Twenty's Hotel, and Dados Hotelclick to enlarge, but this didn't really bother us that much. You get used to it after the first couple of nights, but I don't think it would suit older couples or families.

Beach Bar - (Bars in Laganas)

Mr B  (25 June 2008)        8/10

click to enlarge Hi to Ryan and Eylis from the freezing cold north of Scotland. Thanks for looking after us most evenings on our recent holiday. That local beer fairly puts hair on your chest ( pity it wasn't on my head, eh ? ) Great bar, great prices, great music. Well worth a visit !

Good luck for the rest of the season.
All the best

Mr Dallas - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Mr B          9/10

click to enlarge After reading favourable reviews on here, we tried Mr Dallas and were not disappointed. We ate there most nights, and found Kostas, his wife, and staff would go out of their way to make sure our needs were catered for. Food was excellent, offering an extensive menu to suit all tastes, and prices were very reasonable. ( Best moussaka we've ever tasted ! ) Service was quick, and always with a smile. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Laganas Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Mr B          7/10

click to enlarge If you're looking for the perfect spot on the beach, choose sunbeds in front of Sirocco restaurant, beside Hotel Australia. They're 5 euros for two, and you get looked after by the amazing George, who runs after you all day. He will fetch you drinks, food, ash trays, chase the stray dogs away, and watch your belongings while you swim in the sea, or nip off for a snack. It's also a lot quieter here, than further along the beach where some bars play loud music all day !

Zeros - (Bars in Laganas)

Mr B          9/10

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlarge Just back from two weeks in Laganas, where we spent 14 nights in Zeros. For us, it's the best bar on the strip. The bar staff will entertain you with their juggling and fire-eating, and new for this year is 'Wally-ball' ( give it a go if you dare ! ).

The music can be quite loud, and more for the younger generation, but you can't beat the bar for a good 'craic'.
Say hello to George who will thrill you with his array of tricks.

Chevys Bar - (Bars in Laganas)

Mr B          8/10

click to enlargeGreat bar. Great food. Great cocktails. Great prices ( two cocktails for 5 euros ! ) Try the Smarties or Mars shots !!!

Chevys Bar - (Bars in Laganas)

Mr B          5/10

This used to be one of our favourite bars in Laganas, but seems a bit run down this year, as does the resort itself actually.

Cocktails last year were awesome, but the ones we had this year were more like milkshakes !
Nice Mars Bar shots though...and they were free !

Zeros - (Bars in Laganas)

Mr B          9/10

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlarge

Still the best bar in Laganas. A few bar staff changes from last year - no Raf, Azza or Matty this season, but the legend himself George is still there ( I'm sure he'll always be there...Zeros wouldn't be Zeros without him ! ) And a big hi to Takis the tillman !

Hope you have a busy season guys !

Laganas Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Mr B          5/10

Looking back at my comments made a year ago, you would hardly recognise it as the same beach. The Sirrocco is gone, and a lot of sunbeds as well. The resort is quiet, the beach is less busy, and less noisy.

But at least there appears to be more room to move on the beach, which may not be a bad thing !

Zante Town - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Mr B          7/10

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlarge

If you fancy a day off the beach, take the local bus inot Zante Town. We took a day trip from Tsilivi, it cost 1 euro 40 each, and took about 20 minutes.

Have a stroll along the harbour front, which is very scenic, and watch the boats and ferries come in and out.
You'll find more designer shops than 'tourist' souvenir shops in the side streets.
The Church of St Dennis is also well worth a visit, and is situated on the harbour front.
Zante Town has a spanking new bus depot, set up on the hill, but don't worry, it's only a 5 minute walk to the harbour front.

Mr Dallas - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Went to Tsilivi this year, but spent one night visiting old friends in Laganas. Needless to say we chose Mr Dallas for our evening meal, having ate there most nights last year, and were not disappointed. Mr and 'Mrs' Dallas are charming hosts, the menu is extensive, serving the best of both Greek and British dishes.

I found it strange that the last post on this resaturant was made by me last summer. However, when you see that the resort is now predominately occupied by the 'young and lively' it probably tells it's own story.
We noticed that several good restauarants have closed down since last summer, as the young ones tend to eat more at the fast food outlets at 6a.m. in the morning.
Hope to see all at Mr Dallas Restaurant again next year, even if it is only for another flying visit !

Golden Fish Menu - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mr B          7/10

A nice restaurant, serving a good mix of both Greek and British food. Just like heading down to your local chip shop, with the plastic sauce botles already waiting for you on the table...my kinda place !

You won't get a white pudding supper, but you will get a lovely battered sausage supper !
And the kids will love seeing football legend Ronaldo on the door, earning a bit of pocket money over the summer holidays ( or maybe I'd had one too many ouzos ! )

Dionysos Taverna - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mr B          8/10

Yes to confuse things there are two similarly named restaurants. We ate at that one right next to our Spiros apartments, next door to Alamis Apts, and Planos Beach Hotel. It's spelt 'Dionisios'. The food was excellent, the plates were massive, and the prices were indeed very cheap.

The only thing was we ate so much we couldn't do much for the rest of the evening !
The only place we've ever seen couples queue to get a seat...now that's the sign of a good restaurant !

McDonalds - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

MacDonalds no more...it's now closed !

A very nice restaurant. The food was excellent, and the service was friendly and efficient. The staff couldn't have done more to look after us. Reasonable prices as well.

We knew Dennis on the door from previous holidays in Laganas, so knew it would be good. Only the best hire Dennis, and Dennis only works for the best.
Worth a try.

Nice restaurant. Good food. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Great desserts !

Paradise Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mr B          5/10

They say 'You can Never Leave'...we went there on our first night and never went back ! To be honest, it was at the other end of the resort from where we were staying, and we found better entertainment closer to home.

Waited an hour and a half to see an Elvis tribute, and then this guy appeared in a sort of Ghostbusters boiler suit, and a rubber mask you'd buy on Blackpool prom, and went on to murder some Elvis classics for about 15 minutes.
It was so bad, it was hilarious !

Ark Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Great bar. Good music. Entertaining and friendly bar staff. Cabaret nights are best, featuring Hayley Bell and Elvis. These nights are not to be missed. Also watch out for barman George ( Party Boy ! ) singing Speedy Gonzalez on top of the bar, whilst the other barman Nico sets fire to the bar ! His duet with Hayley on 'Valerie' is showstopping !!!

Two Brothers Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mr B

A nice, friendly bar with a good atmosphere, created mostly by the two waiters Alex and Nikos, who like getting up to a bit of tomfoolery. If they don't put a stupid wig on you at some point, then you must be too boring to be in the bar !

Watch out for their tricks...they might be the same every single night, but they always get a laugh !

Red Apple Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mr B          8/10

A nice relaxing bar just down the road a bit from the reptile house. A friendly atmosphere created by the two barmen Spiros ( Mel Gibson lookalike ), and Fotis, who take time to get to know you, and will tell you all you need to know about the resort and Greek culture, if like us, you find that both fascinating and interesting.

They also have cabaret nights, including Elvis, and quiz nights with good prizes.
Internet access available. One euro for 15 minutes.

Friends Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

A great fun bar, where you will be entertained by the extremely funny host Yannis, and barmen Ilias and Andy, not fogetting the delightful waitress Vanda, and Yannis' wife Thespina.

Great cabaret nights featuring 'Nice n' Easy' on a Sunday night, and 'Glad All Over' on a Thursday night. Watch out for the audience participation !
Also karaoke nights, and quiz nights with great prizes.
Thanks for some great memories.
Hope to see you all again someday.

Spiros - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Mr B          9/10

Just back from two weeks at the Spiros apartments, and would happily recommend them.

Clean and tidy, with regular maid service.
Air conditioning unit if you want it - only 6 euros a day.
Toaster and toastie machine, and even a tv ( even though it was only Greek channels ! )
Great location - a two minute walk to the beach, coming out at the Watersports. You can turn left on the beach and enjoy peace and quiet, or turn right into the busier 'mix'. Still very comfortable wherever you choose.
Only a 5 minute walk to many busy bars and good restaurants. Dionisios Grill directly opposite Spiros which is well worth a visit...you won't get a bigger plate of grub in Tsilivi ! People queue to get in !
Ark Bar and Friends Bar both a short walk, and would recommend both.
Apts set in a quiet location, so you know you'll get a good night's sleep. Mainly couples stay here.
Would definitely go back again.
They even have a large selection of books, for anyone who reads extensively on the beach !
The family who run the apts are always friendly and helpful.

Tsilivi Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Mr B          8/10

Just back from two weeks in Tsilivi, and spent most days on the lovely beach. It's quite a long, narrow beach, but very comfortable.

Unlike Laganas, there's no ghettoblasters pounding all day, or young guys kicking balls in your face while you're trying to sunbathe.
The sea is nice and shallow for quite a distance out, with only a small amount of pebbles to encounter as you wade in.
Tsilivi Watersports offer plenty activities for the more active holidaymaker - pedallos, Crazy Shark, Banana, Canoes, Para-sailing etc.
Sunloungers are mainly 6 euros for two.
You'll find the usual cd/dvd sellers, but they tend to accept a polite 'no thank-you' more readily than they do in Laganas.
There's a live webcam on the 'gozakynthos' website, so check the beach online for yourselves.

Tsilivi Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Mr B          9/10

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlarge

Just back from a wonderful two weeks in Tsilivi, and would definitely go back again. Having spent the past 4 years in Laganas, it was time for us to drop down a gear.

The resort is for couples and families. No groups of young revellers keeping you up all night ! But still a busy resort with plenty entertainment.
The beach is long and narrow, and very comfortable. About a 5/10 minute walk from most central accommodations, shops, and bars.
The bars are plentiful offering a good variety of music, and live entertainment. There are two main 'bar/restaurant' areas, with a 10 minutw walk between them.
We stayed at the harbour end, and would recommend the Red Apple Bar for a quiet drink, and then the Ark Bar and Friends Bar for a bit more fun and live cabaret. Watch out for Hayley Bell, Glad All Over, Nice n Easy, and Elvis !
A good selection of restaurants catering for all tastes. Try Dionisios ( beside Planos Beach Apts ), Nemesis, Popeyes, or our favourite Gyros House which is next to the reptile house.
If you want a day of the beach, you can go to Laser Arena, Bowl em Over, Crazy Golf, otr take the local bus to Zante Town, which is only 1 euro 40.
And if you have a radio in your room, tune into Island FM 88.6. It's the local radio station, and plays great music, keeps you up to date with the weather, and Sky News...if you need that on holiday ! Check it out online before you go !

Paradise Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mr B

Sorry if my comments have upset you Paul. But the whole point of this website is for people to offer their personal opinions on bars, restaurants etc, so that other visitors can read them, and get an honest flavour of what they can expect when they visit. Not everyone's opinions are going to be the same.

Judging by the many positive reviews on Paradise Bar, I know it's an extremely popular bar, which is why we visited it on our first night. However, for us, it wasn't to be our favourite, that's all.
No need for the personal insults.

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Mr B          3/10

Sadly Laganas has gone downhill rapidly over the past couple of years. If you're on an 18-30 holiday, then you'll be okay, as you'll have one helluva party. However, you'll all probably be too drunk to notice a lot of bars and restaurants have closed down. Young revellers are going out at midnight and coming home early in the morning, so the restaurants are losing a lot of business.

Music in the bars, if that's what you call it, is now mostly club music, again to appeal to the young
partygoers.
Sadly the young revellers will move on to somewhere else next year, or the year after, and I fear the once vibrant resort of Laganas will die.
I hope not...( remember this is only my opinion, and I do not wish to offend anyone by my comments. )

Two Brothers Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mr B          7/10

If you like peanuts with your beer, this is the place to be...
Good luck Kondi.

Nemesis - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mr B  (26 June 2010)        8/10

Definitely worth a visit. Lovely food, and reasonable prices. Dennis on the door is a lovely man, who is always pleased to see you, even if you go in or not. Top man. Top restaurant.

Zeros - (Bars in Laganas)

Mr B          5/10

click to enlargeclick to enlarge A favourite bar of ours over the years, but sadly for us, it's now very much geared towards young party people. The DJ only wants to play club music, which is a shame for us older people, who want to enjoy the entertaining bar staff, but are put off by the domineering music.

But George, Dennis and Raf are still the best bar staff in Laganas...

Ark Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mr B          10/10

Athena - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mr B          8/10

Golden Fish Menu - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Hope you enjoyed your 21st birthday Sony...or can you not remember ?!!

Tsilivi Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Looks like it's gone ?

Two Brothers Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mr B

Eddie - Negative post ? I think it's you that's having a laugh my friend ! Try reading it again...I said it's a nice bar. Rated 7 out of 10. Sounds quite fair to me. It's all about opinions, isn't it ?

Two Brothers Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mr B

Eddie, I can't understand why you've got such a chip on your shoulder. We both enjoy the Two Brothers Bar, so what's your problem ?

Anyway, let's not get personal about this, the point of Just Zante is to exchange views and comments about Tsilivi bars, restaurants etc. No need for the personal insults.
Let's just leave it at that.

Margaris Car Hire - (Car Rental in Zante)

Mr B          10/10

click to enlarge We've been going to Zante for years, but finally bit the bullet and hired a car for the first time this summer. Hired our car from 'Pete the Greek', down the road leading to Kaliva Pub, right next door to Red Apple Bar. Pete couldn't be more helpful, and took time to explain everything about the hire agreement, then went on to help us plan our day out, once he knew what we wanted to do, and where we wanted to go. We hired a Hyundai Getz, and it was a cracking little car. Had a fantastic day out.

We would certainly go back to see Pete again next year, and would highly recommend him to others.
And Pete, if you're reading this...'Come on Blackpool !'...hee, hee !

Two Brothers Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mr B

Quite an astute observation there Eddie. I believe I've left 52 reviews so far on my experiences in Zante, and I hope that other readers find them useful. I certainly find it a big help to read other people's reviews of bars, restaurants etc, and am a big supporter of this website as you will have noticed.

Of the 52 reviews I've left on here, only two people have taken exception to my comments. One guy couldn't understand why I did not give the Paradise Bar a higher rating, and you seem to be hung about me mentioning peanuts at Two Brothers for some reason.
If that's the only criticisms of my posts, then I can live with that.
Perhaps if you leave reviews yourself, you will find that everyone has different opinions on what they regard as good bars, restaurants etc.
Try it and see...good luck !
