Alykanas Beach Hotel

Accommodation in Alykanas

Jane S

My bro has just got back from Alikanas studio & beach appartments and told us what a fab place it is. We want to book for Jul next year but the tour operator (going places/kosmar) told us it's fully booked for the dates we want ALREADY!! Does anyone know if they are the only operators who sell rooms there or can anyone give me the number of the hotel itself so I can find if any other companies buy the rooms. Many thanks Jane

Katherine H

We left the Alikanas on 18/07/2004 after a one week stay. Had an excellent time and absolutely loved the apartments and island. The studio apartment could not be faulted. Exceptinally clean. Staff extremely helpful. Hardly any noise. Superb location and would not hesitate in returning.

Nicky

Hi Wendy, just to let you know that we stayed in Alikanas Beach in June 2004 and stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment. Our apartment was very spacious with 2 double bedrooms both with balcony's, 1 bedroom had a small tv. The Kitchen was basic with a fridge, kettle and a 2 ring hob, there was also a dining room table with 2 chairs. I would recommened the airconditioning as it gets really humid at night but the prices they state is for only 1 bedroom, it seems quite expensive for 2 rooms but worth it. As for activities there are pedalos and jet skis you can hire on the beach but if you walk along the beach to Alikes they have banana boats and para - gliding. hope this has helped, have a fantastic holiday.

Wendy S

We're going to the hotel soon and was wondering what the two-bedroom apartments are like and what activities there are to do near the hotel. Please reply A.S.A.P. Thanks.

Rebecca B

I am going on holiday to zante greece, and we are staying in Alikanas Beach studio and apartments. I was just wondering what there is to do around the hotel for teenagers, could anyone help me who was in the same boat??

Sharlene M

We have just returned from alikanas beach studios on Sunday 18/7/04 had a wonderful time and met some really nice people who we hope to keep in contact with. The apartments are very clean, the cleaning staff are in every day. The whole complex is kept very clean and tidy. There is a lovely snack bar which serves food from 8.30 am until 5 pm. i have read some reports that the bar is very noisy at night, i would imagine it possibly could be if you are in the apartments at the bottom of the complex. The staff are very friendly and very good with the children, in particular Terri, Fabio and Nick. Also a big hello to Angelos and Peter. These apartments are superb and i would have no hesitation in booking again. Unfortunately it will not be next year, as there is no availability out of Glasgow next July.

Vicki H

I am going on holiday with my parents on 19th August, it will be my 12th birthday on the 20th. I would love to meet up with anyone who like me just has parents to talk to!!! See you all soon. Love the photo of Stalios!!

Liz A

hey, we had an amazing time in zante best holiday ever! the noise was always kept down so i don't know what anyone is on about. the staff were great except for a p**vert called terri! i can't wait to go back next year!

Nicky

This is for elaine. We stayed at the beach studios from the 20th june till the 4th july 2004 and had the most brilliant time. We didn't find the noise of the bar any problem but our apartment was the furthest away. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis and the sheets and towels changed every other day. I would have to agree with Denise about the tv and the fridge but how much time are you planning to spend in the apartment?! The staff are very friendly and the hotel snack bar is excellent. Would recommend the air conditioning worth every penny. Have a fantastic time.

Elaine K

just booked to go in September 2004 but concerned about commemts re. bar noise. can anyone re-assure me?

Denise G

Stayed at this accommodation in June 2004 and it was a nightmare.
There are 20 rooms on each corridor and all you could hear early morning, early evening and late at night was doors slamming. Luckily we had asked for a room away from the bar and thankfully that is what we were given. The bar was open until at least 3 am with no respect for young children or elderly people trying to sleep.
The "rep" told us she had no idea of the ages of the guests when she allocated rooms so everyone had to take "pot-luck".
What is the point of providing a tv when the only channel you can watch is CNN? Why was there a miniscule fridge stuck away in the cupboard? When you opened the cupboard door the heat from the fridge nearly knocked you out.
Loved Alykanas/Alykes resorts and the beaches but this accommodation was dreadful.

Nadine G

This is for Joanne - Just returned from a week at Alykanas Beach Studios - yes safety deposit boxes are located in the wardrobe in the rooms - although i dont recall seeing any hairdryers!! We took our own.
However, its a beautiful place - so much so, we have just booked again for 2 weeks next year!! Enjoy!

Joanne G

Hi, Im going to Alikanas Beach Studios in 2 weeks and was woundering if anyone could tell me if they had safety deposit boxes in the room aswell as hairdryers??!

Thanks

Lorraine E

Toilets are definitely Greek, but bins emptied everyday by maids, other than that really good. Also good supply of hot water at most times of the day, showers are fine. Hope that helps. Lorraine Eadson.(Can't wait to go back in September).

Katie F

does anyone know if the toilets are Greek or english?

Vicki

Hello - My friend and I have just returned from a brilliant throughly relaxing week at Alikanas beach - we loved it, fantastic location with the beautiful beach, great swimming pool, and brilliant staff. We miss it already!

Katie F

To Devon,
Sorry I have not written back earlier - I have been in France with the school. I have just one question for your Dad - which I hope he doesn't mind answering! Are the toilets greek or english? Meaning can you put the paper down the loos!
You can now e-mail me through this address - richard.fenton@rbs.co.uk
I am looking forward to meeting you. Do you like animals? I love dogs and I have one called Remy. She is very cheeky. Do you have any pets? What is your favourite colour - mine is purple or pink.
E-mail me back.
Love
Katie

It sounds like there are some new staff, can't wait to meet the gang.

Katie F

Hi Devon,
Sorry i haven't written back - i have been away in France with the school. There is one question that my Mum has. Are the toilets Greek or English? Meaning, do you put the paper in the bin or down the loo? Thanks. By the way you can e-mail through this address now - richard.fenton@rbs.co.uk

Lorraine E

Reply to Sarah. We stayed here 23/5/04 2 weeks had a fantastic time, see my comments June 6th. Ignore rubbish written about bar noise, it is fairly low key and restricted to 12.30pm. Alikanas Beach Aparthotel is excellent, we are also returning in September. Only stayed in studios so cannot offer any help on the apartments.

Sarah

we stayed here in 2002 and had a great holiday, but after reading some recent views i would like to know if this resort is still of the high standard that we experienced? as we are returning with friends in september. what are the 2 bedroomed apartments like as we stayed in studios last time?

Sam

just got back from my jollies. we stayed at alikanas beach and we were so thrilled with it. it was all fantastic. clean quiet fab pool and just a step away from the beach. definately go back and recommend it to anyone.

Tony B

HI KATIE, We stayed in the beach village last year its really nice!
Great pools. So if there's anything you or your parents need to know we may be able to help! says dad. I'm like you i have no bro's or sisters so it would be great to meet up! Have you been to alykanas before? This is our forth visit we love it. Hope to hear from you soon. DEVON

Katie F

I arrive on 15th July so will be there a few days before you so I hope we can meet up. Email the board if you are interested. I am 11 years old and enjoy having a laugh and anything sporty. Returned last sunday after a brilliant week at the Alikanas Beach. It was just as the brochure showed, idyllic! Would definitely recommend the Alikanas Beach and will return.

Lauren N

hiya we got bak june 13th and it woz excellent. the staff woz gr8 and really frendly Angel especially. dunno about it been quiet like (not wen we were there neway) no man we werent that loud (sorry) but it really woz excellent and if anyone didnt like it it must have been there own fault!!

Sarah K

I came back from my holiday to Zante on Sunday. Stayed at these apartments and they are excellent! They are right on the beach, with lovely views from the bar and the pool. We stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment which we found plenty big enough and well furnished. The maids keep the place clean as they came to our room everyday and changed the towels about 5 times in the week. The only problem with these maids is that sometimes they are quite noisy in the mornings dragging furniture and slamming doors!! The snack bar sells quite a varied menu that is good value and nice food and all the staff that work are really nice, they make sure you have a nice time. At the evenings there is Kareoke, greek nights etc which are good fun! Mustapha is a funny man- look out for him with his red hat and glasses! If going to eat out my family would recomend the Greedy greek- the food was very good value and very nice to get good traditional greek food, it also was big and spacious and the staff were very polite. The Appolo was also very good especially if you go upstairs because you have lovely views and the great food. There has been some complaints about noise, which i found was no problem at all as the music is turned down in the evenings to prevent people complaining. There is sometimes slight noise from the bar, which is expected as people are out trying to enjoy themselves but generally is nothing that most people cant sleep over. I would love to come here again as these apartments are very good and Zante is a lovely island. x

Karen R

Just returned from a weeks holiday at Alikanas beach studios - absolutely superb. Excellent facilities and great staff. Our apartment was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Bar snacks were reasonably priced and the menu was quite varied. Fantastic pool, plenty of sunbeds - despite a few sad people putting towels out before breakfast - the owners are now clamping down on this pathetic behaviour. We did hear of complaints about the noise, but we were not aware of it. Our two children didn't have any problems sleeping! Bars are supposed to be lively - full of people enjoying themselves on holiday! Personally, I could not fault the place - we had a brilliant time. The best restaurant by far was Mantalena - wonderful food, children's play area and excellent value for money. Would definitely go back to this resort.

Ray N

we have just returned and after reading the comments about the night time noise just before we went i was some what trouble.YES quite rightly so i have never been to a place where there is no consideration for familys with children that need to sleep at night between 10.00pm and 2.00am it just never stops .

the hotel is spotless and the staff excellent; location on beech perfect.the noise just OUT OF THIS WORLD BIG TIME BAD.

if you are going to get away from it all to catch up on lost sleep and the days stress and strain and what quite nights choose a different place to stay.

Chrissie B

hello shawna
nice to hear from you will be looking on here now and then untill we go so if you want to leave us any messages we will see it at vsome point dont know if you want to use the alykanas beach computer when you get there just to tell us what room number you are in if not just tell reception for when we arrive and we will find you will be nice to meet you and your daughter and its allways good to have extra company especially at night take care

Chrissie B

hello shawna when abouts are you going in august we are going fot 2 weekks on the 8th of august we went last year same time there will be me bryan my boyfriend daughter aged 15 and her cousin aged 16 so if you want to meet up for a chat and maybe the girls could get to know one another its more fun for them on holiday than tied to us old ones all the time lol

Devon B

Lorraine E

The rating below should read - slip of the mouse - cleanliness is also Excellent. Thanks. The Eadson Family 23/5/04 to 6/6/04

Lorraine E

Just arrived back from these apartments, had a wonderful time. Read the comments from last year when booking and thought it sounded okay, but having been there for 2 weeks cannot speak highly enough of the place. FANTASTIC. Great staff, entertainment in the evening just right. Monday Greek Night, Tues/Fri Karaoke, Weds Bingo -All Brill!! Cannot understand other people moaning about noise from the bar, what do you want to go on holiday for to sit in your room all night. Quiet enough for us after 12 midnight that is the important thing. We stayed in two Studio Apartments which were very clean, lovely furniture and hot water all day and night. We have 3 teenage girls who loved the pool, the beach location, restaurants in both resorts Alikanas and Alikes were very good and well priced for families. However one thing to look out for do NOT use Supermarket at Letsos Hotel/Alikanas as it can be a right rip off, tills not computerised (conveniently) and we began to find out that they entered some items twice manually, do not give receipt unless you ask so how do you find out - good little scam going on there we think. So best supermarket is in Alikes called Montes or Apkainoz in Alikanas next to Iguana Bar.Would also recommend boat trip to shipwreck and local buses from Alikanas into Zante town for shopping are very good (much cheaper than kosmar excursions). Hello to Nick, Terri, Peter Mustapha and everyone at Alikanas Beach, hope to go again later this year possibly in October 04. FIRST CLASS*** The Eadson Family. 6/6/04

Holly

we are supposed to be going to the Alikanas Beach Apts on the 20th of june originally from Stansted. we were sent a letter saying that the airline we were flying with had gone out of business and our flight had been moved to Gatwick. my dad was looking at teletext when he discovered that the flight we had now been given with Astraeus (AEU354) did not exist for sunday the 6th! i was wondering if anyone had any idea about the flights kosmar are using from Gatwick? my family, our friends and i are looking forward to seeing you all on the 20th (if we get a plane of course!!)

Terri J

It seems a shame to have to rate these apartments as just OK as they have a brilliant location, are spotlessly clean and have great facilities - just make sure you take earplugs as I have never stayed anywhere so noisy! We had a room on the 1st floor right by the bar (and the pool table!)and the rooms are definitely not sound proof so most nights we were kept awake until 2am. The bar does turn the music off at 12.30am but keeps on serving until the last person leaves. Then you are woken up by the maids from 7.30/8am each morning as they clean the corridors very loudly. Plus lots of door slamming (I never worked out why!) I am five months pregnant and went away for a last relaxing holiday before the bambino arrives but came back more tired than when I went! Alikanas however is great - lovely beach and tavernas and Jam-In Bar which had great music. Alykes is also a lovely place and home to Bobby's Olympic Taverna - great food. We did get slightly irritated at the constant hard sell of the horse and carriages outside the apartments so sometimes a walk to Alykes along the beach was called for to avoid them

Jamie C

hi iam jamie iam 14 mad about footy so any lads going 15 july just give us a shout ta!!

Anne D

cheers,
mark

Ian A

We stayed at the resort in the first holiday week of the season. It is possible that the noisy bar is a new feature this year. We did notice one thing - towards the end of the week the bar was nearly always empty and a lot of people were spending their time elsewhere. The bar staff and management didn't look happy. Hopefully they will realize that the noise is putting people off and tone it down a bit. We coped with the noise by having an afternoon siesta, so that we wouldn't lose sleep. We had no trouble getting sunbeds, although there could be a shortage later in the season when it is busy. There are plenty of other cafes/hotels along the beach that also have sunbeds, many of them free of charge. As for tv, I think CNN was the only english speaking channel, but there were often english speaking films on at night which had greek subtitles.

Wendy

Hi Alan, if you are a light sleeper, like me, then you might find the noise a problem. The rooms are not well sound proofed, and if you have inconsideerate people above you moving the furniture and beds in the middle of the night, or stomping across the floor in shoes, it can be a nightmare. We were also kept awake by the karaoke, despite the fact that our room was well away from the bar area. I am so glad that we didn't have a room that near the bar - it would have been dreadful. The airconditioning is extra - about €35 a week I think, but well worth it if it is hot when you are there. As for the sunbeds, well some brits will never change and most of the sunbeds do have towels over them by 7 in the morning even though the occupiers don't surface until 12.00!!! Very Annoying!! There are notices saying that towels will be removed, but we never saw that happen once during the 2 weeks we were there. BUT having said all that, we had a lovely holiday there - the location is excellent, the complex is lovely and clean, with helpful staff and I would go back to Alykanas Beach Studios again tomorrow as long as I could guarantee a high floor room, well away from the bar area!! And it is excellent for children! Enjoy your holiday!!

R A

We stayed from 2 May to 9 May 2004. The Alikanas Beach Studios are well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Every apartment has a private balcony, and the furniture and fittings in the apartments all appear new. They are kept impeccably clean (cleaned daily) by the hardworking staff. The studios are right on the beach, and restaurants and shops are within five minutes easy walking distance. The beach outside the resort is clean, with fine sand and crystal clear water. The resort really is perfect, except for one thing: NOISE. They have a built a bar in the centre of this U shaped resort, which obscures the seaviews of most first and second floor apartments. You won't miss the views because during your holiday you will probably endeavour to spend as much time away from this noisy resort as you can. From 4 or 5 pm onwards you get to listen to a thumping dance beat coming from the bar - but wait - it gets worse. Every Tuesday and Friday they have karaoke - which is fun for the 5 or 10 people in the bar but torture for everyone else. On the first Tuesday night we heard this hideous screaming coming from the bar at about 12.30am and to our horror it was the Kosmar rep (I believe she was trying to sing). They claim to have soundproof glass in the rooms, however this doesn't work - you can't hear your TV over the noise. They do sell earplugs at Katastari, a village which is about 20 - 25 mins away - believe me you will need them.
Don't let this put you off going to Alykanas, it is really beautiful and peaceful with lovely beaches. If you live and breathe karaoke this is probably the resort for you, however if you are after peace and quiet and relaxing evenings listening to the sounds of the sea, stay somewhere else in Alykanas.

Ellis

John T

Going back on the 20th june 2004 wonderful location fantastic place why go anywhere else?.

Helen W

If any of you have been before in August, is it best to book car hire before you go, as it is a very busy time or would you leave it until we get there?

Helen W

In the answer to taking Sterling or Euro travellers cheques, take Sterling, I got this advice from a Greek website last year, when you order them the providers will try to persuade you to get euro chqs by
telling you all sorts, but youll find you will get a much better deal with the interest rate over there. Better than ever if you cash them in laganas.

Ellis

Hi, it`s Ellis again we are going on holiday on June 20th for 2 weeks. Please write back.

Joanne G

We have just returned from a week in Alykanas, staying at Alykanas Beach Studios and Apartments. The apartments are ideally located right on the beach (as its name suggests). There is a short, slightly uphill walk to the tavernas and shops. However, Cosy Corner is just round the corner. Also there is an abundance of horse drawn carriages waiting to take you to most of the tavernas for free. However, I would say that if you can walk please do, as we found out that one of the horses is 20 years old (and I'm sure it was not the only one this age). So please spare a thought for these horses who work from about 6pm to goodness knows when. The studios are very, very clean. Toilet roll, shower curtains, soap and both hand and bath towels are provided. They even provide a scouring sponge for your dishes. Towels are changed every other day, but rooms are cleaned daily. There is also an abundance of hot water any time of the day or night, even if you are up very early for excursions. The ladies on reception are very friendly and helpful and speak perfect English. The pool is lovely and clean, though a bit on the cold side at this time of year. There are also toilets near the pool so you don't have to keep returning to your room. The snack bar serves food between 8am and 5pm at reasonable prices. We had read that you often cannot get a sunbed, but didn't find this a problem (maybe because it is near the end of the season). The Kosmar rep, Ger, is very helpful and friendly (unlike some reps I have had dealings with in the past). We would love to return there again and would highly recommend it.

Judy S

just got back yesterday 5th october had a fantastic time met new friends, staff were brilliant my kids 13 & 15 loved mary ann, nic and terri. The weather was hot and sunny except fot 1 day were we had a great lightning display.we felt there should have been some entertainment on the complex as we had to go into town on a nite(maybe it was because it was towards the end of the season).Other than that it was perfect.

Mary A

Hello to all, This is Mary Anne, George and the fantastic Marina. We would all like to say thank you for making this season the best ever, it takes the guests to make it for us too and its been FAB. Big HI to Charlotte miss you a bucket full. The season hasnt ended yet, carnt wait to see me best pal Megan and her mum and dad again next year. Big thanx for everyone who pushed Niko in the pool (on several occasions) cos hes now learnt his lesson! The Goergy experience still goes on at the bar when he can get the chance.

Jay H

Great place , helpfull staff. Shame about noisy bar at nights especially when someone is murdering a song on kareoke night.
Sunbeds are a problem but then there is the beach but you have to pay 7 euros for 2 beds and parasole. Maids work hard , clean every day and fresh towels and sheets every 2 days, reception staff really helpfull.

Charlotte B

I got back from Alikanas Beach Studios and Apartments yesterday afternoon. I had a great time and I was really sad that I was going. All of our family have decided that we want to go back again next year.I really like Nikos,Teri and Mariane.Nikos throws you in the pool and so does Teri so watch out for them.Mariane works behind the bar at night and she is really kind and friendly.
If you are going we recomend you go to the trip to see the blue caves it is wonderful. Also the Kosmar rep,Geraldine is brilliant. Please anyone going can they say hello to,Nikos,Teri,Mariane and Geraldine for me. Thanks a lot
Hope to see you again next year.
Luv
Charlotte

Charlotte B

Luv Charlotte

Martin A

I WILL BE ARRIVING ON OCT 7 03.I DONT GIVE A MONKIES ABOUT TOWELS ON SUN BEDS.IF NO ONE IS ON THE BED BUT THERE IS A TOWEL I WILL SIMPLY CHUCK IT IN THE POOL AS I NEED THE SUN TAN MORE THAN THE TOWEL,OK.

Chrissie B

have just returned on 24/08/03 the place was excellent very clean weather brilliant had a fantastic holiday the only problem was not enough sunbeds you had to be down by pool before 7-30 really or none left there were beds on beach but these cost 7 euros per day for 2 sunbeds and umbrella which if you have family of say 4 puts quite a bit of cost on your holiday prices for drink not cheap either 4 euros for bacardi breezer but thats not a moan just a bit of imformation and like i said holiday was fantastic

Carol B

Can anyone also tell me what the wind-surfing is like on the island, and the best place for it. We also have Charlotte 13 looking for friends for 20/8/03 - 03-09-03

Had a fantastic famliy holiday here in July '03. If you can take a trip on the Trainaki and visit Spiros's musueum and taverna. If you think you can handle it, then order the large fish at the Original Pie Shack.

Chrissie B

Message for Anna Marie Griffiths, we will be staying in the apartments from 10th August for 2 weeks. Perhaps you would like to meet my Daughter Sarah, also 14. If you do, please leave message in reception. Looking forward to meeting you and your family.

got back 13/7/03 from a fab week, will go again for sure you will love it,as below the sunbeds are a pain.....but all in all a brilliant holiday and excellent hotal..we were in room 360 top floor and it was a great view of the sea ..happy hol,s

Wendy F

Arrived back from Alykanas Beach Studios on 13.7.03 - just had the lovliest holiday there. The apartments are spotless - clean towels every other day and clean sheets twice a week. Staff really friendly and helpful! Sunbeds a real nightmare around the pool! People are putting their towels on them at 6.30 and then going back to bed til 11.00! There are warnings that towels will be removed but they are not! Sun beds on the beach cost 7 euros a day for 2 beds and unbrella! Our studio faced the mountains but we still had a sea view! Try Zorba's and Relax for lovely food in Alykes. Get a horse and cart for the ride home - a bit pricey at 10 euros but worth it! Loved every minute of the holiday and would go back tomorrow. Warning : Zante airport is a complete shambles! Be Prepared for a long wait for luggage when you arrive and in the sun when you go home!

Helen W

Just returned from these excellent apts.13/07/2003 after 14 glorious nights. As many other people have said everything is 1st class, there is a shortage of sunbeds however most were taken by 8.30 you could still find a couple spare at 10.00.
If you are hiring a car the best is Xenos (opp. Letsos Hotel) we had a jeep for 7 days for 290 Euros inc. full ins (the rep told us at the welcome meeting you don't get full insurance from any local companies this isn't true we saved over 100 Euros)
The staff at the apts. are friendly but watch out for Nicos he will push you in the pool if he catches you off guard, nobody managed to push him in though.
Do try eating in Alikes, much cheaper with good size portions
(quicker along the beach then over the footbridge)
But whatever you decide to do this is an excellent base for a great holiday.

Dave R

Just got back today we all loved it myself, wife, kids aged 2 & 13 very clean with maids everyday ,staff friendly we had a double room at the back of the complex cost 8.50 euro per day for the aircon on a double room or 5 euro on a single which you pay at reception.Has a large bar that serves food from 8.30am to 5pm,pool table and play area and swings. One minute walk max to beach or less to the pool.Only one niggle most sunbeds by 8 o'clock have a towel on them but no one insight saw one guy carring at least 6 towels there one morning and return empty handed 2 minutes later. For food poseidon was best guy on the door is a nutter stops traffic so people can get across the road.

Sarah B

hi this is sarah boyle im also going to the same place as you on the 10th hope to see you there this is a message for sarah roberts

Stephen W

Just returned from here and thought the place was superb, actually made me a convert to Greek holidays. Location superb, food excellent from snack bar, and service by the staff was great, (especially Zeta and Anna.)
Location is conveniently located away from main area of Alykanas and Alykes, but all within a short walking distance of no more than 15 minutes to Alykes and 5 minutes to Alykanas.
The only complaint is that other local hotel users occupy some of the sun beds and no preference is given to residents.
Kosmar Reps are superb.

Vanessa B

Hi Chrissie Boyle. Sorry I haven't got back to you. Forgot the address of this web site and been looking around others.
We will be there from 3rd - 17th August. Annika is now 15 years (going on 20!!) Where are you flying from?

Sarah R

This is a message for chrisses boyle daugher im also 14 and going from the 7th to the 21st August it nice to know someone my own age is going . hope to hear from you soon. sarah Roberts

Kym C

We are coming to Alikanas Beach on the 24th July.
We have a son age 12, and a daughter age 6, would like to know if there are any other children going at that time.

Phoebe P

We have just returned today after spending a week at the Alykanas Beach Studios booked with Kosmar via Thomas Cook. There is a ground, first and second floor at present with all the signs of another floor eventually going up but no building work at present. Our room was a good size and very clean with daily maid service and clean towels(including bath ones)every day.We had booked a cot in advance but initially there was not one available although this was rectified very quickly. Also our broken kettle was replaced within an hour with a brand new one.We recommend you get the air conditioning...it is unseasonably hot there just now!!If you are taking a baby they do not have high chairs in the pool snack bar although everywhere else seemed to.The staff in reception were very friendly and helpful. Finally, be prepared to be ambushed by people with fliers for taverna's at night as you leave the studio's to go out.It is a big complex but very clean and next to the gorgeous beach.Have a lovely holiday everyone!!p.s Zante airport truly is an experience...take plenty of water and suncream with you when you are homeward bound again!!!!

Amanda S

Sorry, the report I gave below is not for the alykanas beach studios, but ALYKANAS BEACH VILLAGE. duh!

Amanda S

Yassou (hello),we have just spent the week at Alykanas Beach village and have enjoyed every minute of our stay (25th May - 1st june). The apartments were spotless and maids came every day. Clean towels and sheets twice a week. Great pools, although the tour reps do say that you are not allowed to reserve beds, people do and some even at 10 oclock the night before!, the reps say that they sometimes patrol the area and any reserved beds get the towels thrown into the pool!, really how thick do they think we are?!! That was the only downside I would say about the village as people would reserve beds and selfishly not come to the pool until late afternoon when they had done their shopping.
Alykanas town was a 5 min walk away and Alikes 10 minutes down the beach, with an array of restaurants. Most of them were reasonable, 2 families of four would cost us around €66 - €100 throughout the holiday normally around €80 (that includes all kinds of drinks). Great restaurant in Alykanas called THE POSIEDON blokie on door always says 'lovely jubbly' and 'sound as a pound' and is great with the kids - great food too!
A good cocktail bar just into town called THE CATACOMVE - Yammas! (cheers) to Natasha, she was lovely (happy hour is the best time to go 7 - 9 I think) €3.50 or €4.00 after happy hour.
All in all a week is enough I think, unless you hire a car and go into Lagana and Zante town, but the Alykanas beach village all in all is clean, well kept, friendly and I would recommend it to anyone.
Don't forget your nappy sacks though!!
Yassou (goodbye)

Ann-maria G

Chrissie hello - I posted a message last month saying that myself and my 14 yr old daughter would be out there on 20th August for a week. When are you travelling? Is there any one else going to be there that week?

Chrissie B

We are going to Alikanas Beach, we have a 14 year old daughter, is there anyone else going with teenagers so they can get together?

Tony B

Sharon, what work was going on? Have they been putting another floor on to make three floors in total?
Thanks Tony

Sharon M

Just got back from alikanas beach apartment 14th may till 18th may. The first week we were there the work wasn't quite finished so they put us all up next door in the alikanas village apartments(very nice) for the week then moved us over on the sunday i looked at it as two holidays. There is some work still going on at the "Beach" but nothing to worry about we have just spent two brilliant weeks in the resort so good we have just booked another two weeks for this september. The staff are very friendly and always there to help.

Cindy C

Just found out there could be some building work going on at Alikanas Beach Studios and some have been moved next door to Beach Village, anyone know anything about this as we are due to go 1st June 03

Suzanne T

We were booked into the Alikanas Beach Studios for the first week in May (04/05/03) but it was still being extended and we were put into the Alikanas Beach Village instead. We thought the place was fabulous. It was extremely clean, the staff very helpful and we had a very enjoyable stay. Anyone going, please say hello to Tasos and Nicole behind the bar, they were great fun - remind them that Suzanne, Gordon, Ian and Jeanette were the ones that got wrong for laughing too lound by the night receptionist! The area of the apartments is very quiet and only about 5 minutes walking distance to Alikanas centre (if you can really call one street a centre!). We would highly recommend the Apollo II restaurant - the food there is fab, along with the staff and service. I can honestly say we had a really good time. If you are looking for a quiet holiday, then this is just the place, no clubs at all and not really for the teenagers. More aimed at couples and families.

One place I would NOT recommend is the Taj Mahal/Blue Dragon in Alikes. The food was nice but the cleanliness left rather a lot to be desired. Every other bar/taverna/restaurant that we went to during the course of the week was absolutely spotlessly clean and the service fantastic. Learn a few words of Greek and the locals will love you. Yammas (cheers) is always a good one.

Tony B

Can anyone let me know wot the camp beds are like in these appts, as i am thinking of booking for 04.
Thanks. Tony.

Ann-maria G

Hi, I have just booked a week's holiday at the Alikanas Beach studios. It is only myself and my 14 year old daughter. We arrive on 20th August and it was nice to hear that there may well be some other teenagers for her to meet up with and hopefully some adults for me to make friends with. Nice to see such lovely comments about the place and we are both really looking forward to it.

Bernie M

These have their own website and you can find it on the Alykes site at www.alykes.com it has a virtual tour and there you can see the position of the apartments and have a look at them by clicking on the icon........hope this helps

Ronan D

Hi, We are heading to Alikanas Beach Hotel for two weeks from the 30th August. We are bring our 2 year old son with us. Could somebody let me know what the island is like for kids and in particular the Accommodation.

Cheers!

Paul M

I stayed at the Apathotel with my family last year in June 2002. The hotel had just opened and I can say that its the best accomodation that we have ever stayed in - the rooms are all air conditioned - although there is a small extra charge payable locally. Its right on the beach front and they have an excellent Bar with a lovely swimming pool if you prefer with a childrens pool as well. Ther is also a play area for younger children. They serve good snacks and meals at reasonable prices, as usual nothing is too much trouble. They have a Greek night, last year this was on Thursdays but the portions are a bit small from the BBQ. I would recommend this place to anyone it really is the dream holiday come true. See you all soon. Paul, Sharon & Jake

Jamie D

Hello All, My fiance, Clair, and I are staying at the Alikanas Beach studios fom the 10th Aug 2003. We are really looking forward to it after reading all your positive posts. We stayed last year at the letsos, which was good, but couldn't get in so we originally booked Elpida. The reviews we read on that place didn't seem too hot so we changed and can't wait!!!!

Phoebe P

Message for KARA CHISHOLM we stayed in Alikanas three years ago but in different accomodation. The beach was fantastic for children as the bay is sheltered and calm.We liked it so much we are taking our little boy there this year for his first trip abroad. He will be thirteen months old and we will be arriving a couple of days after you so maybe they could splash around together...he is a bit noisy!!

Bernie M

To: Cindy Conwell.
Thanks a million Cindy for the information re. Masses.
I travel to Alykanas in May and I'm really looking forward to it.
It sounds a really nice place. Thanks again for taking the trouble to reply.......I was beginning to wondering if any Catholics went there!!!!

Cindy C

In reply to Bernie Mccarthy regarding catholic church, there is one in Zante town in St Marks Sq. As far as I know it is a visitng priest from another island so it is hit and miss if there is a mass. They normally put a notice on the outside of the church door. In 2002 we never got a mass when we were there in May, but we did in 2001. We are going to Alikanas Beach Studios on 1st June 2003 so maybe better luck this time eh! Many thanks to everyone who has given info on these appartments, they sound super

Helen R

Hi, We're (2 adults and 2 teenagers) planning to stay here for 1 week from 31st Aug 03. Booked a 2 bed apt, any views specifically on the 2 bed? Also, which are the best tours to do? Any other useful info? The apts have raving reviews, really looking forward to visiting. Thanks in advance.

Bernie M

Are there any teenagers going to Alykanas Beach Village around 25th May?

Kara C

We are going on our holiday on 4th june and taking our little boy who will be 16 months is it a good place to take little ones and are there loads of loud kids running about I know i am taking mine but i would love just a little quiet.

Jackie H

Hello everyone,

My friend Kirstie and I along with our daughters Isabel and Martha went to these appartments last year in 1st week of September and had a great time. In fact we enjoyed it so much we have decided to go back again this year same week you have booked! If you spot us come and say hello!

Jackie Hillhouse (Southampton)

David and Michelle, you should have a good honeymoon

Dawn P

We are going to the Alykanas beach village apartments in July 2003. How big are the studios? anyone else going then?

David M

Thank you for the response Michelle Avery. Funnily enough my fiancee is called Michelle too!!

Michelle A

HI THERE. IN REPLY TO THE PEOPLE GOING TO ALYKANAS BEACH FOR HONEY MOON. I WORKED THERE AS A REP LAST YEAR AND IT IS THE BEST OF ACCOMADATION YOU WILL FIND IN GREECE. YOU GET NO SPECIL TREATMENT IF YOUR ON YOUR HONEYMOON BUT THE STAFF THERE ARE ALL REALLY NICE AND GO OUT THERE WAY TO HELP YOU OUT ANYWAY. ITS IN A GOOD SPOT JUST ON THE BEACH AND HAS A FANTASTIC VIEW OF KEFALONIA. GET YOU TRAVEL AGENT TO PUT DOWN ITS YOUR HONEY MOON ON YOUR BOOKING FORM AND YOUR REP SHOULD GIVE YOU A BOTTLE OF WINE DURING YOUR STAY. HOPEFULLY I WILL BE THE REP AND I PROMISE YOU WILL RECIVE ONE FROM ME. I MIGHT SEE YOU THERE AND I AM SURE YOU WILL HAVE A FAB TIME.

David M

Hi, my fiancee & I booked to go to the Alykanas Beach a couple of months ago. We go on 31st August 2003. This holiday is now going to be our honeymoon as we have since booked to get married on Friday 29th August 2003. Has anyone else been here on honeymoon or seen anyone that was on honeymoon? If so did you/they enjoy it? Is it possible to have champagne on arrival? Did you/they get treated any differently? Any other info on this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Regards, Dave.

Tony D

can you please advise asap which uk based tour operators will be operating to alikanas beach studios - your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. Tony dawes.

Kathy G

Thanks for your reply, Julie - I know the cat situation could change before next year but can you recommend any catless restaurants in Alykanas? I went to Crete this year and found a few suitable places to eat but like you, my husband and children were on cat guard - I only had one experience which spoiled a meal!

Zoe L

can anyone tell me how much a taxi is from the airport to the beachside appts? and how long it takes as opposed to the coach? thanks

Irene T

Stayed at these appts in May. Anyone that has booked for 2003 check out www.alykes.com, then click on hotels and you can get on the website to veiw the aparthotel, very good just found it today. It is good, as I think it is still an artist impression in the tour company book. Hope this helps anyone.

Kelly N

I'm 14 and I think that is the best hols I've ever had. They had karoke, quiz nite and greek nite which was excellent!!!I really want to go back and work there soon so if anyone would like to send me info i would be very grateful!!They even had sky!!and its right on top of the beach!!I didn't no there was n e where so gr8!!!

Neil T

my family had two rooms 18th aug -31 aug This is very good hotel(aparthotel) let down by KOSMAR and their alleged rep. The staff and rooms are very good, however there are only 62 sunbeds to 52 rooms, these rooms take a max of three-work it out. Fistycuffs neasrly broke out one day. the rep thinks we all have IQ in single figures!!! the airport is not fit for cattle

Isobel B

I have been trying to book the Alykanas Beach Village in July 2003 and they have no apartments can anyone tell me how big the studios are please and if they have a balcony etc. thanks

Vanessa B

Thanks Laura for your comments. They were very helpful. We have booked to go to a Alykanas Beach Studio next 3rd August 2003 as it sounds wonderful. Hope to see some of you there. Can anyone tell me roughly how big the studios are?

Laura D

hi venessa bell, im 12 years old and i went to alikanas beech studios and appartments on the 4th of august because my mum also works in a school!!!! i went with my mum, dad, 7year old brother and my 15 year old sister! there are plenty of familys and children to make friends with and the appartments have air conditioning with the small cost of 5 euros a night but believe me its worth it!!!! you should definately go there!! have fun

Laura D

me and my family arrived back from zante/alikanas today! we absolutely loved it!!!!!!!! i would definately go back next year! it is 5 steps to the beach where you can use the local watersports such as: jet skis, pedalos, paragliding, and banana boats! the appartments are spacious and clean with a lovely balcony! it has air conditioning and satalite tv!!! the people are very friendly and couldnt do muh more for you! at night time you will find horse and carts outside the hotel which will provide free transport to all restrants! watch out for the barman who pushes you in the pool if your not carfull!!!!!! trust me i recomende it to all people!! ENJOY!!!!!

Sara J

Yassou! I got back from Alykanas Beach on sunday, it was the best holiday I've had! There is plenty to do and the staff are really friendly especially Akis, Nicos and the little cute guy who works at the bar in the daytime I think his name is Dossos. Greek night is great fun and the food is really nice you have to go to it! I will definitely be going back there, maybe to work there nxt summer as I liked the area so much! If anyone wants to offer me a job there then email me on saucysarz15@hotmail.com! I reccomend anyone to go there but u won't want 2 leave!

Vanessa B

We haven't been to this place yet but it sounds so lovely from all your comments we decided to give it a go. We are trying to book for next summer but all the apartments have already gone. I have to take my holiday in August as I work in a school. My husband and I are going with my 15yr old daughter. Are the studios big enough to give us 'space'? Is it a really sociable place so we and my daughter can make friends? How hot will it be in August? We went to Rhodes last summer and it was unbearable, in the 50's and no air cond!

Sue H

Just returned from a wonderful two weeks holiday.Would go back tomorrow!! The location next to the Beach is beautiful.Such a relaxing holiday. The studios were great, a good size, with Air Conditioning and Sky TV, the majority with a sea view.Staff really friendly as all the Greek people seemed to be in all the restaurants and shops. The pool snack bar did very good food at reasonable prices. It certainly wasen't worth cooking. This was our first visit to Zante and it wont be our last.I only hope the English Parents dont let their children ruin the beautiful gardens by playing football in them instead of using the area around the childrens playground. It's sometimes a bit embarassing seeing how we Brits behave. Please dont ruin what at the moment is a beautiful new holiday complex!!

Shirley C

Got back from Alykanas Sunday, had the most brilliant holiday, the apartment and complex are very, very good. Staff and locals are so friendly. Hey Dan you were there same time as us, I take it Jacob was the little ginger kitten, very cute and playful. There are plenty of beds and parasols round the pool. We used the ones on the beach quite a few times, 8 euros for 2 beds and a parasol for the day, just left our towels on them while we had lunch, or siesta, or even went back upto the pool. Fresh water showers on poolside were a good idea to wash the salt water off your skin. Sea and pool really warm, like getting into a bath. All in all really great holiday. Thanks Kosmar

Charlotte B

We have just got back from Alikanas Beach Studios. We had a great time and are already booking to go back next year.If you are walking it takes 4/5 minutes to get to Alikanas village. The hotel is very clean, there is also a playground for us kids. The pool is very clean aswell.NIKOS AND AGIS ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!

Laura D

hi, me and my family are goin to alikanas beach studios and appartments on the 4th of august 2002 and we was wondering are there lots of sunbeds and parasols? are there any trips to smugglers cove??? from laura downham

Jackie T

we stayed at mouzakis which was excellent. but just wanted to say that good jeep hire from cosmo just oppopsite letsos very friendly and helplful.

Dan B

We are at the hotel now with 3 days to go. its really good here. There is lots to do and loads of watersports. If you are coming here watch out for Nicos, he is the hotel joker. He has pshed me in the pool twice. And he dosen't care if you are fully clothed. There is a dude at the bar called agis, he knows all the places to eat. Look out for Jacob the kitten.

Helen H

Hi Ceri, im 14 and my sister is 11 (both female) We r staying @ alikanas beach studios and apartments 4 2 weeks. We are going on the 21st of July and r really lookin 4ward 2 it. We haven't met any new friends 4 ages and will probably c u and your children by the pool. We can't wait.

Heather G

To jholden :- the Alykanas Beach Studios & Apartments are in the Kosmar brochure and are situated next door to the Alykanas Beach Village which is found in the Airtours brochure. They are both approached from the road by the Letsos Hotel and are separated by a 300metre stretch of spare ground. Both compexes are situated on the beach, but the Alykanas Village is much bigger and covers a larger area. The Beach Studios look incomplete in so far as the building has steel rods poking out of the roof.., perhaps they plan another floor sometime in the future. The pool is lovely, right by the beach and the play area for children is great.

J H

can anyone tell us how far are the alikanas beach studios and apartments are from the alykanas beach village ? and which brochure are the alikanas beach studios and apartments in, thanks.

Paul K

Just got back from these apartments with my wife, mother and 3 year old daughter. Lovely and clean. Modern by Greek standards. Pleasant staff. Good Pool and Kids Pool. Kids playground only really usable in the evenings due to hot surfaces in the daytime. Just like the artists impression in the brochure. 4 or 5 small steps onto the beach which is safe for kids. If you go there, say hello to Akis, the evening barman. He is such a nice bloke.

Susan H

Dear Tina and the Bird Family Tina - we have been to Alikanas for the last three year have a daughter aged 10 (this year) we have always used Jungle Formula (Roll on and Pump Spray) available from Superdrug, Boots etc. The Bird Family - Great car hire etc would be Pepas in Alikes and Alikanas good prices. Hope you both enjoy your holiday PS - when are you going. I have attached my email address if you need any other info. susan@heywood11.freeserve.co.uk

Could anyone reccomend a good jeep hire company in the area? We would like to try scuba diving, could anyone reccomend somewhere. Look out Alikanas, HERE WE COME!!!! The Bird family.

Elaine G

Steve, We stayed next door at the beach village and I took some photos of the Kosmar apartments as I am a travel agent and I have a customer going next year. They arrived this morning, I would be quite willing to let you look at acouple as long as you send them back.(unfortunatly we don't have a digital camera so cant e-mail them)the complex looks lovely the garden areas are really well matured and it looks very clean and tidy. If you don't mind putting an address or phone number on the web site i will send you the photos.

Steve P

We've booked to go to Alikanas Beach Studios based on the website comments, but Kosmar only show an artists impression. Does anyone out there actually have a photograph of this mysterious place ?

Neil H

kerry, we fly from gatwick at 5 so we may be on the same flight. there are myself helen my better half! Our little terror Charlotte who is 2 our friends Lisa and Andy and there little one Kian who is 10 months. so it wont be hard to miss us!!!!

Kerry B

Dear neil Are you flying out on the 30th? What time is your flight, we are flying out at 5am so we will be out in Zante mid Morning Kerry & Dave Banbury

Fiona S

We came back from the Alykanas Beach Apartments last weekend, and as everyone else has already commented, everything was great. The apartments and complex were very clean, everyone was really friendly and attentive, and we had a really good time. The location right by the sea has to be one of the best on the island - I'm never booking a holiday less than 6 feet from the beach again! Plenty to see and excursions to go on, even for a relatively small island. Alykanas isn't the busiest place, but it had plenty of shops and restaurants for our week's holiday. My only criticism would be that they cater a little too much for the English, and you couldn't get away from the World Cup! And as for the airport...!

Neil H

Kerry , if we beat the samba boys tomorrow, then the final is a sure thing!!! the seats will be reserved!!!!!!!!!

Kerry B

Dear Neil Forget my husband what about a seat for me Kerry

Ceri J

Rose N

Does anyone know if any other British Tour Operator's go to the Alikanas Beach Studios and Apartments, apart from Kosmar. We are going there on 4 August. Can someone answer the following questions please. How large are the studios and is the third bed, (a camp bed according to the brochure,) full sized? How many studios/apartments are there in the complex? Are the Beach Studios and Apartments completely separate from the Airtours Alikanas Beach Village? Thanks

Ceri S

Helen H

Hi, thanx for all your comments. I'm sorry that you may have got the wrong impression but im only 14 and we haven't met any new friends, our age, for ages. Again all I can say is sorry, my comment was vague, wasn't it. Also, does any one fly from Newcastle airport about 2pm, thanx

Susan H

Hi Helen - We are going to Alikanas for the 3rd time on 21sy July - Staying at Letsos hotel (which is great) I have a daughter who is 10 so yoor children could have someone to play with - we fly from Manchester Airport (I think about 7.00 am) So if you go from there we could meet up?? (get in touch susan@heywood11.freeserve.co.uk)

Helen R

To Jane Griffiths-in answer to your question-if you are going with airtours-these apartments featured in the Kosamar brochure are not the ones you will be staying in.The Alykanas Beach Village is next door and is a bigger complex. We stayed there and are just back-I've written a report on them-look under Alykanas Beach village.

Neil H

to Kerry and family . its world cup final day we will save a seat for hubby in the bar!!!!!!!!!

Karl D

We are going to Alikanas Beach Apartments on the 14th of July.My brothers are 14 and 11 and I am 8.Hi Helen hope to see you by the pool.Is any body else going between the 14th and 28th July.We are really looking forward to our holiday!!!

Jane G

Can any one who has stayed at Alykanas Beach Village booked through Airtours confirm that the studio apartment for 4 people is adequate in size/space for 4 people. I am presuming that these are the same apartments as the ones in the Kosmar brochure which are also brand new.Any comments & I would be grateful as I am going in August and am hoping all building work is complete. Thanks Jane Griffiths

Helen H

Hi, me and my family are going to Zante on the 21st of July for 2 weeks. We are staying in the Beach Studios and apartments with Kosmar. I hope to enjoy the holiday and I would like to know if any other kids are going on holiday around this time. We haven't met some new friends for ages. Thanx

Heather P

Just wanted to say that these apartments are the best I have stayed in for a long time, excellent position right on the beach with a pool and it's own bar that does great lunches (spag bol and the Chef's salad were lovely) The cleaners came in every day which showed, as everywhere, both inside and out, was very clean and tidy. Would love to go back.

Craig S

Just got back today,we had a wonderful time.the appartments are excellent they are very clean you get fresh towels every day and clean sheets twice a week. They are finished to a very high standard with a kettle, shower curtain and a tv with satellite news in every room,Also a safe in each room for which the charge is 12 euros per week, and air conditioning for which the charge is 5 euros per day. .The pool is very clean and there are plenty of sunbeds around the pool which are free but if you use the ones on the beach there is a charge for this. The pool bar is clean and the snacks and prices are very good. We have been going to greece for many years but these apartments are simply the best. The same cant be said for zante airport which is an absolute disgrace but thats another story

Helen R

to Carlos cid,if you are going with panorama then you are going to the Alykanas Beach Village-it calls it aparthotel in their brochure.we have just come back and I've written about it under Alykanas beach village.Have a great time.

Kerry B

Fiona S

Can anyone tell me if there are sun loungers/umbrellas available on the beach in front of the appartments? Glad to hear so many good reports - can't wait to go second week of June!

Shirley C

I have just been to the Airtours site, and found that the Alikanas Beach Village is their apartment complex not Kosmar, so the two sites are different, The Alikanas Beach Aprts are Kosmar the Alikanas Beach Village is Airtours. I think this is right by my working out, Hope so cos I am going to the Kosmar Apts in July.

Bryan G

Thanks Irene for putting our minds at rest , hope you have had a nice holiday . We will let everyone know what we think when we return . Thanks again .

Carlos C

Hi, We are flying in on the 1st of June for 2 weeks (couple+ 5yrs old boy), and after reading the comments below, Alykanas sounds perfect for what we have in mind. One question though: are Alikanas Beach Studios/Appts and Alikanas Beach Village the same place ? The enquiries about both seem to refer to same place (the hotel/aparthotel which was unfinished 'til few weeks ago, with a sketch in the Panorama Hols brochure). We have already bought our holidays with Panorama IE (a studio), and although the Brochure says "Alykanas Beach Aparthotel", the booking form says "Alykanas Beach Villa". The travel agent called Panorama and they said it was the same. Right ? And finally, is the hotel (aparthotel, appartment, studio, villa...) really ready ? I saw a comment about people being realocated as late as 11 May and some recent one about the gardens not being ready. It might not make too much difference anyway, but I just would like to know. Thanks

Claire T

Hello Irene, Thanks for letting us all know about the beach appartments, just a few questions -if thats o.k The travel agent said they where 4 star standard, is this the case? and could you let me know what the pool, beach, bars, etc are like. Thanks again, hope you enjoyed your holiday!

Irene T

Yesssssss they are opened but still doin Work there but we had a walk round on Sunday when first hol makers went in and they look lovely. So have graet time we come home sunday. The alykanas beach studios and appts fantasic.

Bryan G

Help !!! Are the Alykanas Beach village appts finished yet ?. We are due to land there in the next couple of weeks with our three year old son and dont wish to be relocated at the last minute . Seems like the holiday companies have been a bit economical with the truth with this one ,any comments would be much appreciated .

Irene T

here in alykanas the appts great. fantastic and it is an aparthotel so all how were wondering. Beach village not finished. Great weather bye

Not so worried A

Thanks Colin....you're a star!!!!!!!

Colin L

Hi everybody its Colin again in answer to your questions. The Beach Village is situated to the right hand side of the Alykanas Beach. From the beach the complex starts about 3-4 minutes walk away. Wheelchair access i would say is good in Alykanas and Alykes as i did see quite a few holiday makers in wheelchairs and they did not seem to be having any problems. The entrance road upto the Alykanas Beach is flat and getting around the property i cannot imagine will be a problem except maybe getting onto the beach which has about three steps or so.The main road into Alykes is flat also but i would reccomend a torch if out and about at night. The pools shown in the artists impression is 1xchildrens pool 1xmain pool and 1xjacuzzi.The nearest ATM machine is next door almost to the Olympic Restaurant which is on the main street in Alykes.I must also say that the food and service at the Olympic restaurant was the best and the owner Bobby is a great host Web site Adress www.olympicbar.com. for more info. The temperature when i was there was between 22-26 nice eh. If anyone wants to no anything else please dont hesitate to post on the site. Hope this helps Colin

Worried H

Hi colin! Fantastic to hear your report!!!Can't wait to go!!! How far is it from these apartments to the Beach Village??

Karl D

colin hi , im going to zante on the 26 may to the alikanas beach studios ive got a teenaged daughter in a wheel chair is it flat and are the roads ok ie i just not to dusty

Helen R

Colin-delighted to hear you had such a great time.We think these are the apts. we are going to at the end of the month-in our brochure (panorama) ex Ireland-they are called aparhotel Alykanas Beach. There is a computer generated picture of them which shows one large pool and some smaller pools-are these kids pools?? Also how hot was it when you were there and is there an ATM machine anywhere locally.Thanks.

Colin L

Thought you all might like to know that my girlfriend and i have just returned from a week at the Alikanas Beach Studios and Apartments(Called the Alikanas Beach Aparthotel Locally). What an amazing Place!!!! The accomodation is immaculate and is located down the road from the Letsos apartments(which is the closest Supermarket) and has a lovely snack/Pool bar which is located next to the swimming pool and jacuzzi(Payable locally) with a walkway leading directly onto the beach which itself has views of Kefalonia. The studios are very spacious and have everything you will need from Air conditioning/TV/Wardrobe/Fridge/Two oven rings/Kettle/Power Shower/Fully stocked with Cups/Plates/Saucepans etc to Spacious balconies. They are cleaned regularly and towels are changed every two days. And the great thing is everything is brand new. The views from the balconies are of the garden area/Sea Views (Dependant on Location) which has been well done and the entrance to your apartments which is situated on the outside of the property overlooks the mountains of Zante. What a Holiday!!!!! P.S When you go say a big Hi to the Night Barman at the Snack/Pool Bar for me.THANKS. P.P.S.This is not the Alikanas Beach Village that is further up the beach

Irene T

Paul, We go on Sunday to these apartments so thanks for the location and the info. We to have been 6 times to Alykanas and stopped at various apartments stayed at Letsos (very good)for the majority of these years. We are so looking forward to these new appts. I will write a message on the site when we return in a fortnights time. Zante here we come! Hope you to have a great time.

Paul K

We have some friends in Alikanas who tell us that the apartments are finished and look really good. The apartments are located on the seafront between the Valais and the river that splits Alikes and Alikanas. I have also heard that they may be owned by the local mayor and that they should be of good quality. We are due to stay there in June so hope that our friends are right.

Michael J

going to the alikanas beach studios and apartments in july can any one give me a rough idea in what area of the resort or are they near to the valais hotel hope you can help

Michael J

can any one tell me where the apartments are in alikanas or what other apartments they are near so i have a rough gide my sister is staying in the valai apartments hope spelling is right

Irene T

Neil, we are going 2 weeks today for a fortnight! ! !. (can't wait). I will write a message when we get back to let everyone know what the appts are like etc. So just watch this space. I am sure that other holiday makers who are going earlier on will write and give their comments as well.

Neil H

We are due to go 1st week in July 4 adults and 2 kids , can anybody shed any lite on the construction side of things

Worried H

Does anyone know if Alykanas Beach Village (Airtours)and Alykanas Beach Studios are the same place. If not do you know how far apart they are? Thanks

Irene T

Helen, We fly back May 26th,so it looks like we won't meet up! As far as your accomadation is concerned I havn't got a clue. We will more than likely be in the Iguana Bar on our last night but you won't want to see us as I am always upset on my last night in Zante! Anyway have a great time in Zante and drop an email when you get back.

Helen R

Irene, thanks for the info re the cash machine. We are going on May 25th-from Ireland-booked with Panorama-so now I am not sure if these are the same apts. we are going to-in our brochure they are called-Aparthotel Alykanas Beach.Joe mentioned they were a Kosamar property-I looked in their brochure-and the artist's impression picture was different-so perhaps we are not going to the same place after all-but they must be pretty close-so maybe we'll meet up!

Guy & Jo

going with the kids last week in May/first week in June, so if your going at the same time - see you there - if not, let us know what its like !!

Terry F

We have booked for July, and looking forward to the holiday, feedback would greatly appreciated. We heard from our travel operator in january 02 that the roof was on and it should be finished by March.

Fiona S

To anyone who is wondering if construction is finished or not, I am staying here in June and when I booked in January, I was advised that at that time, they were just finishing off the interior furnishings and that everything should be done by the time I go. But they did point out that although it was mentioned in the brochure, there wouldn't be a hairdryer in my room after all!

Irene T

Helen in reply to Joes message I have found out there is supposed to be a cash machine in Alykes opening up in March 2002. It will be situated outside the Olympic Kiosk ( Alykes centre crossroads). Also they are supposed to be having one outside the Montes Super Market sometime in May. I hope this is some use to you. This is our 6th year we have stayed at Alykans and we will be staying at the Alikanas beach studios/ appts in May. When in May are you going?

Joe C

Hi, There wasn't an ATM in Alykes or Alikanas in 2001. There was talk of one but ..... this is Greece. You can get money off a visa from supermarkets but they charge a whopping 10%. Also its worth noting that the bus service into town isn't fantastic so you will probably be best off with euro travellers cheques rather than messing about to go to the banks in town. Any more questions and i'll do my best to answer them! cheers

Helen R

was delighted to read Joe's comments below as we will be sstaying here in May.Joe do you know if there are any ATM machines in Alykanas or Alykes-with the Euro it would be very handy if there was.

Joe C

This is Kosmars property so it will be a good'en. the property was very nearly finished at the end of (31 oct) 2001 when i left. The beach is very sandy, superb for kids as the water stays very shallow for ages. its not a massively deep beach but is really nice. The accommodation looks out towards Kefalonia and you will definately struggle to get better value throughout Zakynthos. Enjoy yourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gary J

we are staying their in july if,sumbody has been out thier i would like. To no what it is like meny thanks, GARY

Irene T

I am staying at the appartments in May, I have heard from a person who had been there late 2001 and she said they were starting the inside of the building. So hopefully they should be finished. But if there is anyone out there that can confirm this I would be pleased to here from you. I will report back after my stay for all you lucky people going after May!! Cant wait to get back to Zante and Im counting down!
