Mermaids

We ate here about 6 times during our 2 week holiday - it was amazing. Huge portions, great food and really friendly staff.

I recommend the Athenean Meze for 2 people - €17 makes it great value for money

Just back from a fanastic holiday in Kalamaki - The Mermaid Restaurant was the best eating place in Kalamaki, we tried a couple of others but always came back !!

Been back in England for a couple of weeks now not much good weather over here

Just got back from zante, and we went to Mermaids 3 times during our weeks stay, the staff were lovely and really spent the time to include and entertain our 18 month old  The food was always lovely and really well priced, Thankyou

Oh my god!! what a fantastic place to eat, relax group dance!!  The warm welcome feel as you enter the restaurant was outta this world and I would highly reccommend this to everyone!!!  We were known as the couple at table 22 which quickly reverted to our names and the quick service and delicious food you could'nt help but to go back for more and more!!!  Many thanks to Con, Lou Lou, Maria, Yola, Sam and not forgetting Auntie and pierce/Jerry, babi and all the other guys at mermaids.  Miss you guys heaps xxx

not to bad the wife and i ate there a couple of times while she loved her chicken sizlers my t bone was aliking to chewing my shoes.i had a fillet next time same again a bit over done,cant see why it is famouse the savoy it is not,more like a wetherspoons .Not the best place to eat in kalamaki.

JUST TO SAY THAT IF YOU GO TO KALAMKI ZANTE EAT IN MERMAIDS RESTUARANT IT IS THE BEST FOOD EVER AND SO MUCH CHOICE THE STAFF ARE ACE .

Have been going to mermaids for the last 4 years, and I must say each year the standards have gone down.  This could be due to complacency, however we gave it another go this year and was again dissapointed and did not return.

cant wait to return to mermaids for the good choice and value for money food which is always excellent cant believe poeple can winge about getting wide selection and good value when food back here is so expensive and portions so small we have always enjoyed the food at mermaids and the chicken dishes have never been boiled the stuffed steak is to die for so much so that my daughter wants us to send her some home when we return on the 15 june we are looking forward to endulging in the vast variety of food on offer at mermaids

In reply to the bad comment below, i find it kinda silly that your giving a very bad review based on there being a big menu and lots of value for your money.

I guess if you wish to spend say £3 on a burger next to £3 on a bigger burger that comes with chips then go and put your money in a open wall bank.

But i think most would see value for your money as a very good thing and also a big menu as a very good thing as there be food to match most peoples likes and not half of the group not being able to find something on there fancy on a small menu.

  Can't understand how anybody can leave a negative comment about Mermaids. We have been visiting the restaurant for years. Just got back from holiday and as always the service and the food were of outstanding quality and the prices are still very good. Haven't found anywhere in Kalamaki that comes close. Not sure the food justifies its famous reputation and there was no soap on at least 2 different occasions. Very busy at night so best to eat very early. Had our last lunch there as couldn't get in two previous nights – definitely not the best meal we'd had.

Can't see why this was voted best restaurant. Went for breakfast and in day light you could see the dirt.

table had not been wiped but was reset. tea cups were all stained and staff could not get rid of customers quickly enough after there meal even although it was not busy. If you are easily put of don't go to the toilets before you eat yuch

The food was lovely, massive menu to match the massive portions.  Staff friendly and polite, would have no hesitation in rcommending this location to anyone!!

What can i say but yet again Mermaids was the place to be for your meals. The staff as always where great and would take the time to make you feel welcome and if there was kids around they have fun with them.

As for the food there no where that can match its value, i don't know how the below people could say the portions are small, the number of people you see who look in shock when there meals come out due to just how big the meals are is great to fun to watch.

And as always its top level when it comes to just how nice the food is and unlike alot of places theres a very good kids menu for the kids what i might add the portions are just as big as most other places main meals infact my mum eats more off the kids menu as the main is to big for her and the kids is just the right size, Plus if theres something not there and they got the stuff they will make it for you.

Yet again great meals and staff and will be sure to be back alot next year for our meals.

Ok i suppose, checked out this site before i went to Kalamaki and was not that impressed, food was reasonbly priced and edible, portions on the small side though, could not see why it was voted no#1 restaraunt in Kalamki.

Terrible. After waiting nearly half an hour (three other tables were served before us even though they came in after). It was lunchtime and not even busy.No one would even look us in the eye so that we could try to order. Everything looked as if it needed wiping over it was dirty. We ended up just getting up and leaving. So did'nt give the food a chance.

been kalamaki seven times in the last ten years been to lots of other restaraunts but not yet found one that compairs to mermaids the meals are big and cheap and taste wonderfull the menu is vast and of course theirs the daily specials cant wait to go back next year because con adele and all the staff at mermaids and plus soda make u feel so welcome see you all soon david gill carl
