Roseland Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Christine A

Just returned from a wonderful 2 week hol at the roseland (23/7/06-06/8/06) everything you read on here is true. Absolutely spotless public areas and rooms, cleaned everyday, free air con july and august. great snack bar by the pool, lovely friendly staff and great view of the planes coming in to land. About 5 mins stroll to the beach thru the gate at the back of the pool, slightly longer to the strip, but nice to walk off all that great food and drink! we didn't have an evening meal at the hotel, so can't comment on the food there, breakfast was the usual fare, cereals, eggs, meats, fruit etc... or just juice and toast, if that's your thing,  my only tiny criticism, the breakfast coffee from the urn was pants!  The resort has something for everyone and felt very safe, even walking back from the strip in the early hours. The  hotel even had a security guard at night, which was reassuring, but thankfully not necessary. If you've booked here you won't be dissappointed, far and away the nicest hotel i've visited in greece. It's not big and full of facilities, but if you like the personal touch, getting to know who your on holiday with and no worries about health and hygiene, then this is the place for you. Well done all at the roseland, and i would definantly return someday.

Buon Amici - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Christine A

our first time in kalamaki so relied on comments here to pick restaurants, we were a mixed age party of 6 and everyone enjoyed there meals here so much we ate here four times in a fortnight, 3 types of pasta available in almost evey sauce you can think of, i can personally recommend  the penne al tonno, lovely creamy light sauce with tuna, my friends daughter became addicted to the pomodoro pasta, and had it every time followed by banofee pie, her sister said the lasagne was the best anywhere, and her boyfriend said the same about his pizza, lovely wafer thin crust, topped just right.  the service was good each time even  on one evening when they had a party of 25 in and they were run off their feet, how the chef managed i don't know, yes we had to wait a while longer but they did apologise and we weren't bothered anyway!  Top marks buon amici, if you like italian food don't miss this.

Hera Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Ate here 3 times during our fortnights stay, food and service both excellent, beef stifado so good i had it twice, my friend had lamb kleftiko here served in foil over a plate of fire! tasted great too. It was the service that made us return though, the waiters were such good fun and soooooo handsome (got the piccies to prove it) complimentary wine, melon and shots added to the experience, even when we were walking past the guys popped out to say hello and wish us a pleasant evening, the young man featured in a few of the pics dropped a full tray of food one night, plates bounced in all directions to cheers all round but he looked mortified, no harm done, we thought hera was great and would definantly recommemd it.

Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Christine A

would definantly eat here again if i return to kalamaki, lovely setting, good service and great food, the chicken dias was gorgeous my friend had steak a la creme and said it was the nicest meal she had in the fortnight, take a left off the strip down the airport road you can't miss it, always busy which is a good sign, obviously many return visitors too, no better recommendation than that.

Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Christine A  (08 August 2006)

Good but not great, they do what they do here very well, if your in a mixed age party particularly with younger ones then you can't go wrong here, huge menu, buzzing atmosphere, big plates, good food and reasonably priced, if you prefer something a bit more intimate then maybe this isn't the place for you, i personally found it a bit claustrophobic and noisy, but the food was good and the service too. tried it once and that was enough for me but it was busy every time i passed so they must please a lot of people.

our party spent many a happy evening in here, shays as daft as a brush and works darn hard to make sure everyones having a good night, cocktails only 2.50 euros so had a sore head a few mornings after my black russians, really nice friendly atmosphere, some fine karaoke singers and shay in his shorts doing his baywatch thing!!! (if you've been you'll know) hope to pass your way again some day, well done all at venue.
