we had the sad news a few weeks ago that our dog Lucy had died of a heart attack.she was found lying on the fllor of the kennels by the trainer.what a sad ending to the story. But at least the money we paid enabled her to have 10 months of a happy life. But of cause I would have rather have had her. We have been offered another dog but i feel it will be not the same!

We stayed at the Panos studios from 21st/9/03 to 5th/10/03. I read about the various forms of wild life around but as they say when in Rome.My kids had great fun collecting chickens playing with the neighbouring pig and seemed to be a magnet for five local dogs
who we enjoyed playing with and feeding. One in particular a small white dog who lived under the fiat 127 at the side of the apartments
and who we couldnt bare to leave her so we decided to bring her home with us and it is presently in kennels in Zante somewhere and I am due to fly back at the end of April next year 2004 to pick her up on my own.We made a lot of friends at the Panos for the two weeks we were there and will keep them updated on this site or the main toen of Alikes site. Anyway back to the apartments they were cleaned every two days and the linen changed. There is only a small electric hobb but you eat out every night anyway. The beach is only 10 mins max and the best part is wher Alan resides from Golden Dolphin on the pier to the left of the hotel that begins with an A.The Maria hotel is a few seconds away the three bar staff were great and we had a couple of good drinks in there. They also show all the premiership football matches. I found the Panos more than adequate they give you the best of both worlds quite if needed or 10/15mins fron Alikes town. We went through last minute.com and for two adults and two children the holiday including a car for one week and insurance ang flights came to seven hundred pounds one overcast day and the rest in the 80s, 35c on four days.

Panos rooms were basic but no more than you'd expect. Good fridge but a kettle is worth bringing as you have to boil water on the ring. But beware of the electrics we both had a couple of nasty electric shocks from the stove and bathroom lights - nothing is earthed! Could be dangerous if you have a heart condition or a pacemaker. Didn't find the local wildlife (cockrel and turkeys) too noisy and they entertained our toddler. Good position if you want to be away from the disco and music noise. No pool but you can use most of the resort's pools and sunbeds for free so long as you buy from their bar/cafe. The Koala bar's pool was great for us as lots of space and facilities for small kids.

Just returned from a week at Panos, having been re-routed due to our originally booked accommodation being 'no longer available'! The most important thing for us was peace and quiet and this definitely provided it. We were on the top floor (Room 32) and, having closed the shutters and sliding door, were not disturbed by the cockerill, chickens or turkeys, or even the noise from the Maria late partying. The room was spacious (intended for 3) and much as any other greek accommodation. Our bins were emptied daily, which was a definite plus point but we found the staff less than helpful. On arrival we spent ages trying to get the electricity to work, only to discover from a neighbour that our 'electric key' was missing. We also spent the first evening being unable to lock our door from the outside as it was not working properly and required a knack - which was explained by our rep. the next morning. We then had to pass this info. onto newcomers. The first morning's shower was also a shock - freezing cold water, but we eventually discovered that you had to let it run for about ten minutes if you were up before 8am. Don't expect repairs to happen quickly. Our sliding door lock was broken but didn't get fixed during our stay and someone in another room waited 3 days for a new light in the bathroom. However, this doesn't necessarily reflect on Panos as it's typical in Greece. 10-15 minutes walk into the town and beach, although you could eat at a couple of nearer places. Horse and carriage would take you from Alykes to Alykanas and return to your accommodation, so a car wasn't necessary.

Stayed at Panos for one week, very clean and pleasant basic essentials provided.Awoken every morning by the rooster (ideal for an early start). Maids did not speak very good english but you could make yourself understood. No pool but use of the Maria pool two minutes away.Nearest shop 15 minutes walk away.Very enjoyable holiday.

Panos is a typically greek studio block. There are minimal cooking facilities - two electric hobs, a fridge, utensils and a bathroom which turns into a quagmire very quickly. The maids were very helpful, although did not speak the best english. The rooms were cleaned every other day and new linnen arived once a week. The only down side we found was the cockerill which started up any time after 3.30am and the chickens that made themselves very well known about 7am. We foud that feeding them loads of bread generally shut them up though. Just beware of the rep - ours was from olympic and not very good
