Have just returned from Zante last week. This was our fourth visit, and third year at Draginikos Apartments. What can i say - fantastic location, great people, totally relaxing. The Mill Bar is one of our favourite haunts!, and for the best food in town - The Mantelina. Really looking forward to next years holiday in September.

we have not long returned from our 4th stay at the dragonikos. The apartments are excellent, perfect for families and couples. As a family of 4 my mum and dad always choose to stay at the dragonikos 'coz it is central and in a calm and relaxing area. no matter which room you are the views over looking the sea and mountains are just amazing. with the taverna (the romanza) next door and the town and beach 2 minutes away there's not much to be moaned about.
The rooms are basic as are every other apartment we have stayed in over the last 9 yrs in alykes and alykanas but with the friendly family atmosphere the owners will certainly make you feel very welcome, as do all other greeks!
we are looking foward to our return next year to the dragonikos and Alykanas as it truely is one of the best resorts on the whole island. There is enough entertainment within alykes/ alykanasto suit couples and families without being crowded.

Hi Holly,

I'm James, The First Choice Rep at the Draganikos! There is a pool just over the road, closer than the beach, which you can use free of charge :)

Hope this helps...

Looking forward to meeting you in August. Feel free to contact me here if you want to know anything else

Hi Holly

There is a pool almost opposite at the Valais Hotel. There is also one at the Mill Bar which is just off the beach road.  Hope this helps.

In response to Sheila Henderson's comments - you do hear various animals throughout the night, but nothing to disturb you (all part and parcel of being on one of the Greek Islands!) and we stayed in a two bedroomed apartment for two weeks and did not hear the owners chat once.  The apartments are very clean, bright and spacious.  Alykanas was brilliant and we highly recommend trips through the local tour operators.  A fantastic location all round!

Just arrived back from 2 weeks at the Draganikos in Alykanas,(picture of the apartment and the beautiful garden left;)

we arrived on May 1st 2007 the weather was fantastic, a little windy to start with, but just got hotter and hotter, we recorded a temp of 101 deg one evening.  The resort is a very quiet place compared to Tsilivi and others like it, if you're looking for nightlife this in definately not the place to go. but like us if you prefer a nice quiet relaxing holiday this is it. The apartment was v. clean, cleaned every day except sunday, fresh linen and towels are provided, toilet paper also. the kitchen has a 2 hob electric burner, no oven, no kettle, only the very basics. but the food in the village was so cheap you dont have to cook yourself anyway.(there is a dog in the ground, who does bark a little, but not to the extent that it bothered us at all.)  The Taverna adjacent to the apartment, Romanza, was very good value for money, all dishes were in the region of 6-8 euros each, that it what most other restaurants were too. The taverna on the corner of the beach, which is situated approx 5mins walk away, was the Valais, that too was exceptionally good value for money.
My only dislike for the resorts around this area and most others we visited were the 'English football' you want to go to greece to be with the greeks not keept seeing 'english football' shirts, tv, everything. it was just plain annoying. There was ahuge influence of english there, we seemed to see no other nationalities.  But we did make v good friends there and had a wonderful time. There were lots of offeres for trips, we did sign up with our rep for most of them, but they are actually cheaper from the tour operaters in the village, they weren't all open when we got there right at the start of the season, otherwise we would have opted for that. the cost of those were on average around 20 Euros. you can pay up to 48Euros for trips from the reps.  But having said this the trips we went on were very well organised and the tour guides were exceptional. we were told the history of the island, all you ever wanted to know! and they are all very charming and helpful.

All in all I give the apartment, 10/10  and Alykanas it self 10/10

One couple said that you would need earplugs as there are dogs chained up at the apartments and traffic constantly through the night also the owners live on the site and talk all through the night outside - I wanted to book a two bedroom apartment - has anyone else experienced these problems

  Location : Excellent
  Quietness : Excellent
  Cleanliness : Excellent

The apartment was clean and spacious, perfectly situated next to the beach. Really nice for a good nights sleep, very quiet. Romanza restaurant(next door) was amazing value for money. We payed roughly 40 euro for a meal fo four(but enough food for 8!) with wine and appetizers. We went to other places and this one was the best and right outside the apartment. The best place for breakfast was Oasis bar on the beach. The service was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for Spyros(the waiter). He even booked our taxis and made travel enquiries for us! Great eggs on toast too!  want to go back!!!
