Psarapoula Lemon Tree

Restaurants in Alykanas

I disagree with Jodie(sorry). This is the first time i have been to zante, however i have been to alot of other Greek Islands in the past 10 years, and i must say that the Psarapoyla known as the Lemon Tree garden is the best restaurant i have been to, not only for the delicious food but for the surperb surroundings on offer. Not only is there the beautiful garden there are two other areas on offer to dine in, which are inside. There are Cats around most of the places that you dine in, however in the time that i ate in the Garden, one time out of 10 nights at the lemon tree did i see cats. If you choose to eat in Garden of course there is a chance that there will be insects. However me and my husband would not and did not find this a problem as we are on holiday. The service was brilliant, the food very tasty and a very traditional Greek atmosphere, i would tell anyone to go there and give it a try because i guarentee you would not be let down.

When we return in May 2003 it will be our 5th visit to Alykanas in 3 yrs. You have only to read the other comments to see why Psarapoula is so well liked and popular. They have their own fishing boat - so fish is always available, or choose the special souvlaki or pizza - you really can't go wrong! Best wishes to Zoe, Soula and Lisa from John and Dot.

We visited the Lemon Tree several times in September 2002, we found the service to be very good, staff were extremely friendly. The food was excellant, especially the fish dishes. Special mention to Lisa for her Houmous (Best I've ever tasted). We thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Wow! The Psarapoula's getting almost posh! The garden is lovely - the menu is expanding - there are more tables - and the service is getting a bit quicker. Jimmy's cooking is getting more adventurous and the lovely Zoë seems, thank God, to be recovering from her awful illness.

lovely staff, great food and the service was first class. It made our holiday.

Claire G

Lovely setting, great food, friendly staff.

Went here last year about 10 times and decided it was the best. Checked this site on return and found lots of positive comment. On checking again today all those positive comments have gone which seems a real shame.

This is the same place as the Psarapoula Fish Taverna - it seems to have two names. We very much enjoyed our visit there.

We enjoyed the walk out to the restaurant (also called the Lemon Tree) from Alykanas centre, and were rewarded with a good Greek meal under the lemon trees.

Many thanks to Lisa, Zoe and the lovely lady who's name I can't remember. Living in Old Alakanas we spent the whole 14 nights eating at the Psarapoula and I can't imagine anywhere better. As a party of nine we were quite a challenge but all nine ate well every night. I think a special mention for the mousaka and for the sake of my daughter who became addicted to the Lemon Grove's spaghetti bolognaise 4 years ago - the spag bol. Good and friendly service, excellent food - we will be back! If I say Fidget - Lisa will know who we are - take care of yourself you are a lovely person.

Excellent typically Greek

We liked this one but hard to find a bit of a walk .We all had fresh fish a little more expensive than others. You sit in lovely lemon tree gardens.

Heather G

Tried this one because it had a good write up here. Thought it was okay, pestered by wasps and cats! The beef with spaghetti was lovely as was the garlic bread with cheese starter. Husband had the swordfish kebab but wasn't that impressed really. The setting is alright but because of all the lemon trees, there really are a lot of flies and wasps. Perhaps we were just unlucky..

Paul W

The best food in town in beautiful surroundings. The potato salad and chicken a la creme was delicious. Made my wife's birthday an evening to remember. Good service complemented by the lovely Lisa.

The best reason for going back to Zante! Not just the fish, all meals consistantly good, try the walnut cake! Service was v.good for the 10 nights we were there. Located in Old Alkinas, take a horse and carriage from the tourist area to find it the first time.

This is the kind of restaurant that you have mixed feelings about sharing the secret with others in case it becomes too popular! What an enchanting place. The setting, in a lemon grove with the lights strung out in the branches, is simply delightful. Except for a very busy night when the staff were pushed the service was good. We didn't have much fish except for a starter but some of the lamb special main courses were exqusite --- definitely a food milestone. If you have to walk the mainly unlit road from Alikanas a torch would be very useful. Can't wait to get back!

Chloe P

What a brillant resturant. you sit in the middle of a lemon grove and have fresh fish, if you want. I'm not terribly keen on fish so i had alternative greek dishes freshly cooked by jimmy!

Ian Q

Best meals in two weeks in Zakynthos, If you are in the area, Give it a go, The fresh fish is Excellent and changes daily.. Sit in the lemon grove and dream of never coming home !!

David

As with most restaurants on Zante, the welcome was genuinely friendly. The food was excellent, homemade and fresh. I had the mousaka, which was very tasty and quite obviously homemade and Mark had the special pizza, which was again homemade and there was loads of it. Lovely restaurant in a beautiful setting with friendly and welcoming staff.

Susie W

Good honest Greek food - the fresh fish is strongly recommended.

Chloe P

The fish is delicious and wonderfully fresh. Zoe is always so friendly and her brother Jimmy is an excellent cook! It can be a little slow if it's very busy, but who cares when you're on holiday and sitting in the middle of a lemon grove!

Jim B

Normally we would tour all the tavernas before picking our favourite. Not after visiting the Psarapoula. The best food in ALL the years we have gone to Greece, both for quality and for choice. They always have about 3 "specials", one of which will be fish. The staff are GENUINELY friendly.

Mal W

Lovely place to sit on a pleasant evening. Beware if the wind is blowing, some of the drains aren't too sweet! Alicia -folk singer/musician plays here,"Mary Hopkin" type voice, quite pleasant. Food can be excellent or average! Maybe it depends on the wind!

Simon W

If you are in the new part of Alikanas, on the road from Alikes to Zakinthos, go up the turning by Buster's, around the bend towards the church in the old part of the village and the Psarapoula is on the right.

Sonia C

Where is this restaurant please?

Simon W

Really fresh fish, usually from the day's catch, friendly service, but sometimes very slow when it's busy.
