Mavrikos Hotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Stayed 19.07.02 to 02.08.02. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. Jean behind the pool bar is lovely. Food expensive but drinks about the same - great club sandwich ! Pool has no shallow end so not good if you have young children, however there is a great kiddies pool which is a sun trap during the day. There is a steep hill up to the hotel - not good for the elderly, infirm or buggies. Kids reps. are very good. We stayed in a two bed apartment which was very spacious. Didn't fancy the hotel rooms much - small and you had to pay for the fridge and air con. No much in the way of evening entertainment - bingo and quizzes. John Mavrikos is very territorial - stomps around at night with a flashlight checking the drains - and isn't too keen on the local 'wild' kittens. Would go again if we could pay about half the price.

Contessina - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

We had several good meals here and found the best 'house red' wine. Great vantage point to view the 'mad square' - a bit like wackey races. Very friendly waiters, good service and food. Only down point was they wouldn't do childrens portions of the adult menu - unlike many other tavernas in the village.

We found this a bit 'production line' however the kids loved it - the more times you went the better their presents. The food is good and very reasonable - the children get a lollipop and present at the end of the meal and the adults get a drink which tastes likes venos! Waiters very friendly - best if you can get a table on the edge over looking the square - not so claustraphobic !

Okay if you have very young children - lots of screaming toddlers ! Had cold moussaka which we sent back to be -re-microwaved (dodgy tummy next day). Lovely outlook but would stick to a drink only.
