Excellent food, the moussaka is the best i've had. Cater well for kids and the staff were really friendly. They do a great Greek night which you need to book for in advance, they don't charge for it but they do have a seperate menu for that night with higher prices.

Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Paul D  (09 June 2002)

The service was fairly slow and the staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. If you want something traditional this is not the place to go.The food was ok and the portions huge. The steak was dry and chewy and the bbq sauce very peppery. However they were quick to realise something was wrong with it and didn't charge us.Good if you have young children.

Great restaurant. Would recommend the Pork in lemon sauce and the Beef in a pot. Catered well fo kids. Had a great atmosphere. A bit out of the way but well worth the walk.

Paolo - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

We visited this restaurant about five times and each time the food was great. The pizzas are big enough to share and the childrens portions are huge. It had a playground for the kids wich is great since you could be waiting a while for your meal when busy. The Lamb Kleftico was lovely. The staff were great with kids and really went out of their way to make your evening special. We only wish we had visited it more.

Pandesia - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

This should be called the PANTSDESIA. The food was awful. The soup was like water and we sent the main course back after one mouthful. The childrens meatballs were covered in a hot chili sauce which was too spicy for a 6yr old to eat, the four cheese pizza was covered in blue cheese whcih was really overpowering and the crust was very dry and salty, and the steak was so chewy. They asked us to go into the back to settle the bill where they started arguing with us as to why we had sent their food back. They said there was nothing wrong with the food and that we had to pay for it all. They said we were 'stupid English people' who didn't know good food. Anyway all the satff came out of the kitchen and some of the waiters and started pushing us around including my son and partner. In the end we paid £8 each for a bowl of soup and a drink!!I would avoid this restaurant like the plague. Most of the people eating their were german and i think this suited the owner as he said we were just 'stupid English people.' AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Michaelos - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

This was the best restaurant we ate at. Its a bit of a walk but well worth it.The food was excellent. I would recommend the Moussaka, steak &Zakinthyan Beef. For starters the cheese pie was the best and the soup was gorgeous, it was homemade and really tasty. The tomato soup was packed with fresh tomatoes. Dennis,Albert and the rest of the staff were really friendly and entertained our six year old well. In fact Albert even came to visit us at our hotel before we went home. This has a wonderful atmosphere and was very traditional. It was busy everynight but there was a lovely little bar area at the side where you could wait for your table.Dennis does not let anybody get passed without saying goodbye and thankyou and the ladies all get a kiss. A truly great restaurant, you'd be a fool to miss it.

Roseland Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

This was in a quite location on the edge of Kalamaki. It was close to the beach and had a number of restaurants nearby. The facilities were great with a pool table, childrens playarea, childrens pool and tabletennis. The rooms were a resonable size for three of us, and again the room facilties were great. There was a hairdryer, fridge, telephone and tv with english channels. Some rooms had a bath and some showers. The staff were really friendly and there was always somebody around if you needed them. The maid came round everyday and the hotel was spotless. The drinks were quite expensive and the food was ok. You are better going to the shop just round the corner for your drinks and down to the beach for your food. In general this was a great hotel. There is no building work going on and it is tucked away from the main road,so is perfect for people with young children. It's proximity to the airport is not a problem.
