Fiorentino - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Sandra M  (22 July 2003)

I first went to Tsilivi in May 1999 and this was our favourite restaurant then - we ate there almost every night and had the odd breakfast too. We're returning to Tsilivi in September this year and after reading all these other fabulous reports I know where we'll be eating every night! It's just a shame that they do not do breakfasts any more. Roll on September.

Sunrise Hotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Well what can I say about our stay at the Sunrise other than it's the worst place we've ever stayed. Tsilivi is great as we've been there before and stayed at the Park which was excellent and even better now that it's been extended/refurbished. The first week at the Sunrise was okay but by our second week when no more guests were arriving the whole place was getting ready for closure - sunbeds being removed from around the pool, tables & chairs being removed from the breakfast room & pool bar area, pillows & quilts being removed from rooms and the worst thing of all fire extinquishers, reels & hoses being removed 2 days before all guests had left - so much for Health & Safety rules! Also, the pool bar opened & closed whenever Violetta wanted it to - sometimes opened at 11.30am & closed at 17.00pm! Stocks were also allowed to run down with no draught beer being available for some 7 days before we left. We were told that there is a problem over ownership at the hotel (confirmed by the rep) with the matter being taken to court and if it's not resolved the hotel will close for good. The atmosphere amongst the family was awful whilst we were there with people not speaking to each other and all guests got the feeling that they were "in the way" and that they were glad to get rid of us and close down. Perhaps we were just unfortunate to go to this hotel at the end of the season but all the same we were still paying guests and should be entitled to the same facilities as all guests had received through the season. I will never return to this hotel again but can certainly recommend the Park.

Park Hotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

We stayed at the Park 4 years ago but returned to Tsilivi this year and stayed at the Sunrise which is opposite - the worst decision we ever made but that's another story! As the Park has been extended and refurbished since our stay there we decided to go across and have a look and what a welcome we got from Illios the owner who remembered us 4 years on! Illios, his family and all the staff are great and he advised that we could use all the facilities at the hotel as much as we liked so given the problems we were having at the Sunrise this was a gift from heaven! As this was the end of the season all bar prices had been drastically reduced so we made the most of this. We also used the very comfortable sunbeds around the pool and one evening booked a meal in the dining room which was great but too much to eat. Illios gave us a guided tour of all his new rooms which are absolutely fantastic and so luxurious. I would certainly recommend this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to go back there. Thank you Illios you really made us feel like one of the family.

Fiorentino - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Sandra M  (26 October 2003)

Fiorentino's is the best restaurant in Tsilivi. It was the best 4 years ago on our first visit to Zante and is still the best! Try the Puigi, Lamb in the Oven, Rack of Lamb (that's really a leg of lamb!), cod fillet in beer batter, Stamna, Moussaka - the list goes on & on! Be prepared to queue for a table every night - it is worth it though. Thank you Frank for being the nicest, polite host & Dimis for making us laugh!
