Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

After all the rave reviews we ate here.... We found it distinctly average. It has a large selection, maybe too large (if you know what I mean) Our meals were ok but nothing spectacular, tried traditional greek dishes, afraid not as authentic or tasty as we had at some of the tavernas in Kalamaki and Zante Town. Large Selection, Large (noisy)crowd, Large TV, average food, average value for money and average to poor service. I think maybe the euro signs are blinding Mermaids as it seems to me that quality and service is on the decline for a pack in and stack em high attitude! Sorry :-)

Have to agree the food here is great. Lamb just melts in the mouth and there was still bags left when I had finish, and same for my friends, and boy can they eat!! Service was fast and attentive without being too much, the owner is on had to great and see you off. Price for such a great 2 course dinner plus drinks was little less than superb. Surroundings are chic, peaceful and extremley enjoyable. Slightly further away down, head towards Laganas on Laganas road, its practically the only resturant that doesn't bear a huge neon sign, but worth the walk on the way there, and you need it after to walk off the stuffed belly you will have at the end.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! For ambience this one wins, looks great you kind of expect the food to let it down, but no it was fantastic the whole was through. I suggest the meze also for starters, a real taste of Greece. Price was good too.
