Blue Caves and Shipwreck Cruise - (Zante Excursions)

Lisa C

We booked our trip with Dionisis Tours in Tsilivi.

We were due to be picked up at 8.45 by coach to take us to the top of the island where we were to get on a speedboat. The coach arrived at 9.25 !!
Anyway, the coach took about an hour to reach the top of the island where we all boarded the speedboat.

The (so-called) speedboat was in fact good in size etc so could access the caves etc and the guys were great.

HOWEVER, because the coach had been late in picking us up we were only given 20 minutes at the shipwreck ( something we werent informed of as we got onto the beach) and because of this we left a family of four including 2 young children on the beach!! Then the tour rep had the cheek to blame them for it. They were brought back by one of the bigger boats but they will have missed the caves because of it.

After leaving the boat we went to a cafe in a picturesque setting with some windmills etc, but I do think Id have rather longer at the shipwreck than sat in some cafe selling fast food.

The Coach trip back took an hour and a half after dropping people off in Alykes and Alikanas.

Id suggest another tour operator for this trip.

Blue Caves and Shipwreck Cruise - (Zante Excursions)

In response to the views on "the Greek way of life".

I have to agree with Samantha, the Greeks just like the Spanish have the attitude of taking things easy. You only have to look at the amount of building work in Zante. The Greeks themselves made fun of themselves in the fact that the Olympic Stadium had only just been completed on the day they were starting.

I dont think Sam meant anything malicious by her comment, our tour rep told us that if your waiting for a bus and it doesnt come within half an hour, go home as it wont be coming.

I think as Brits we have to accept the slow pace of life on some holiday islands.

Water Village - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Lisa C

We got to the waterpark at 3.30 for a half day pass.

At around 4 the big tour partys leave which means you can easily find a sunbed and access the rides easily, instead of all the queuing.

Food and drink is expensive so take your own.

Magdalenas Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Lisa C

Best place for cocktails, especially their Chocolate Mint!!

Contessina Hotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Lisa C

We found the Contessina to be a very clean hotel with very friendly staff.

The pool area is nice however, it would have been nice if some people didnt hog all the sunbeds. But I guess thats to be expected anywhere.

I agree the air con should be included in the price, we took our own fan but in the 2nd week the temp reached the 40's and it was becoming unbearable.

The hotel itself actually looked so much better than the brochure picture.

Manos Grill - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Lisa C  (27 July 2005)

Overated in my opinion.

The restaurant was very busy when we got there and we waited over an hour for our meal to arrive. Whilst Im sure the staff were friendly to the bigger parties (bigger tips?) we felt like we'd been forgotten about.

The meals themselves were average and we found much better at some other restaurants.

Two Brothers Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Lisa C

We visited 2 brothers every night for a couple of drinks. The atmosphere was very good and everyone enjoyed themselves and joined in with the predictable montage of "Show me the way to Amarillo" then"I am the Music Man" and cha cha slide.

So much better than the overated Ark bar

Fantasy Mini Golf - (Things To Do in Zante)

Lisa C

Overated and expensive.

They even charge over 10 yr olds adult prices.

Although set out well, the holes themselves were very boring, should be made more crazy golf style

Romeo and Juliet - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Lisa C  (28 July 2005)

We found the restaurant nice and clean and quick on service. The meals themselves were nice, although a little pricier than some other restaurants.

Asian Feast - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Lisa C

Having decided to go for the full works starters main meal and extras etc, we were rather disappointed in the curry itself, the chicken didnt really have any taste the sauce very bland.

The service was good though, but then again it was empty when we arrived. Also turned out to be our most expensive meal for our stay in Tsilivi.

Wish Id have tried there Chinese instead

Contessina Hotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Lisa

Alicia, my advice would be to take £1500 to be safe, but believe me you will be coming back with some of that. If you have the extra £500 take it and have a great time.

We took £1400 for 2 weeks, but we hired a car did 2 trips went to the waterpark etc, we brought £400 back with us.
