Mantelena Restaurant - (Restaurants in Alykanas)

John B

Just returned from Alykanas and ate at Mantelena for 6 of the seven nights { made the mistake of visiting one of the other restaurants midweek !! } I must say that having eaten all over europe this is one of my very favourite restaurants.
The Fishermans Meze starter for 2 { sardines, whitebait, prawns, squid and cod } was excellent, and try the items from the charcoal grill { stuffed chicken, lamb chops, steak and of course Gyros } for a treat. The traditional greek dishes of Beef and Lamb Stifado, and Moussaka were also mouthwatering. A 3 course meal for 2 with a bottle of the best wine on the menu averaged ~35 Euros { brilliant value ! }

Dionisos - (Restaurants in Alykanas)

Tried this restaurant one evening after eating previously at the Mantelena and what a disappointment. My wife had ordered what was supposed to be spicy hot chicken wings as a starter and turned out to be 3 chicken wings in a sort of bolognese sauce. I ordered the seafood rice after reading about it in a previous comment and I'm still trying to find the seafood apart from a few tuna flakes. { there were also 3 prawn heads in the dish but only one prawn. }

Alykanas Beach Hotel - (Accommodation in Alykanas)

John B

Just returned from the Alykanas Beach and although the weather was rotten the apartments are great, kept spotless and are in a fantastic location right on the beach. The food in the bar area is very acceptable and the nightly entertainment kept everyone amused.
I'd definitely go back there but earlier next time.
