Plus Soda - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Phil J  (20 July 2004)

Plus soda was probably our favourite bar on the island - great service, good prices and a nice chilled out venue.
It was as far as I could get up the road after having the 21 euro mixed grill in Mermaids!
Hi to Nikki, who we thought was excellently cheerful throughout our week stay - we're the couple who got chatting to Karen on our penulatimate night. Keep up the good work!!

Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Phil A  (22 July 2004)

We ate twice at Mermaids during our one week stay and thought it was fantastic. Not sure whether I was wise to sample the 21 euro Mixed Grill - I was 3 stone lighter before I went to Kalamaki!!!! It was great though, with loads of selection and really tasty meats.

I got a free lolly for finishing it too - bonus.

Roseland Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Phil A

The Roseland is fantastic - the rooms are clean and modern, the staff are always friendly, and there is a real mixture of guests (couples, oldsters, families and groups of teenagers) Star Wars Racer is there too, which is cool. Air Conditioning and Fridges are available, and there is an inflatable whale in the pool.
It were reet good at Roseland and we'll definitely be returning.
THANKS AGAIN to Georgia and all the staff at Roseland for giving us a great room and making our stay so amazing.

Zakanthi - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Phil A

The food here was great - unfortunately, that's the only thing that was great. The service was pretty poor - we had to wait for a long time for our food and the waiters were a huge contrast to those we had seen at other restaurants in Kalamaki. The place didn't have the friendly vibe that every other restaurant we went to had. The price of food was high also, compared to other prices on Zante - the menu was the smallest we'd seen on the island too, and the desserts we wanted weren't available. All in all, I had a pretty crap time at Zakanoh, but Jess enjoyed the Chicken Caesar Salad, which looked great!

Michaelos - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Phil A

We went on a bit of an adventure to find Mikaelos after reading good comments on this site - they were all correct in our opinion. The one thing that makes Mikaelos stand out from any other restaurant we went to in Kalamaki is how intent the staff are on making you have a good time and enjoy your meal. Even the menu states 'if you do not like your meal, we will exchange for another from the menu' or something along those lines. We were constantly asked whether everything was okay, which it was. The meze for 2 was lovely and the chicken souvlaki was great too. The bill came to around 29 euros for drinks and 2 courses, which was stunning - the house white wine is about 60p per glass - we gave a 10 euro tip we were so pleased with the food and service. TOP MARKS, even if around 90% of the waiters wanted to take Jess home with them!!!
