Marelen Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Kay B

We have just returned from a fortnights stay at the Hotel Marelen. There Were 16 of us in our group of ages from 6 to 72. We all thought the Hotel itself was very clean, the pool brilliant and snack bar very appetizing. The inside loung area was very hot dut to no ac.
We had a s.c. room, clean but s.c. facilities very basic, however we did have the option to pay extra for ac. which was well worth the money. 2 parties in our group had BB, but found the rooms unbearably hot, as they could only hire a fan. We didn't find the aircraft noise a problem, it was amazing to see the planes landing and taking off, they were so close you could almost see the people on board.

If you are looking for a very relaxing beach holiday you should love the Holel Marelen, but if you like to be close the shops and tavernas of the resort you'll probably find this hoel a little bit off the beaten track. The nearest supermarket is about a 5 to 10 min walk away which doen't seem that far but it is when it is very hot. If you keep walking down the main stretch you'll come across other shops and tavernas, they are a bit spaced until you get nearer the centre of Kalamaki. There is a Taxi rank right outside the hotel which only charges 6 euros to Kalamaki and 7 euros to Lagana.

We enjoyed our stay at the Marelen but would have really liked to have been closer to the shops and bars of Kalamaki.

Blue Caves and Shipwreck Cruise - (Zante Excursions)

K B

We spent 7 hours on the Delfini, it is by far the worst boat trip I have ever been on. The boat was overcrowded, very uncomfortable and not very clean. The snack bar was overpriced, there was no airconditiong in the lounge as advertised on the leaflets and the smell of diesel didn,t help much either. We had 1 swim stop before arriving at smugglers cove then an hour to look round the wreck. Getting off the boat was a nightmare for anyone with small children. Apart from the shipwreck there is nothing else at this cove. We were glad that we got to see the ship wreck but the trip itself was very boring especially for small children.
