Tom and John - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Debbie L

this was my 1st trip to zante in aug 2003, as im usually in corfu. my first thought was that i had maybe booked into appartments owned by gays. the room was the usual basic greek room but the good thing was that we has a phone in our room. this saved queing in the street. make a phone call and pay in the supermarket downstairs. there was a wall attatchment for the shower so no balancing act was needed. there was also a tv in the room but all greek programs. a hairdryer was also hanging on the wall and upon turning it on smelt the burning within 5 seconds. the supermarket attatched to appartments was expensive and the margarita and st denis supermarkets were cheaper. they are 3 seconds down the road. you can see the beach from your room. the mopeds go past 24/7 and seem to have had the silencers removed from exhausts.the bin wagon only woke me up 3 x. i told john in the shop about complaints on the internet about the barking dog and then it went mysteriously quiet. im not homophobic but the were a lesbian couple at the pool who performed underwater activities which had to be explained to my 10yr old son before he needed to know. him and a friend went with theyre goggles on underwater lesbian watch, which gained more members as people clicked on to what they were watching, oldest watcher was 50!!!!!the food at poolside is average and dennis is plesant enough. the comical element of the staff is a man! who looks like a regurgetated lhimal from kajagoogoo. he is called tacky, strange but the name really suits him. he is on his own planet and walks round as if the wheels spinning but the hamster is dead. no one goes there for a drink at night as prices ridiculous. the pool table is 1 euro 50 cents. over a quyid to play pool. the greek kids invade the pool in the afternoon and they all sound like they are arguing. the x l bar is owned by tassos who 90% of the time is easy going and has a laugh, be prepared to get wet as he throws ice buckets over people and hoses them down. he cannot take the joke back though, we got him back by shouting tosser not tassos. he spits his dummy out regularly. sweet revenge is a nice place to eat. no one touting and 10% off or free wine with every meal. she is australian and they dont want you in and out of restaurant. popeyes is a good restaurant but you have to queue. there is a fish and chip shop just up from popeyes which also does mushy peas. we were in the middle of a heatwave and got there and it was 53 degrees, we didnt go to welcome meeting as have been going to greece for 15 years, the rep was never seen, all we knew was that she was called fiona and unless you bought trips off her , you were invisible. pdq cars next to tom and johns, alex the owner will undercut the reps by 50%.all in all i had a good holiday but sometimes it would be better if we could hire our own staff. be careful getting out of the pool at the deep end as the steps come out of their footing. a bit dangerous. tom works behind the bar and swims in the pool. he told the kids off for jumping in the pool as the water splashed out of the pool!!! i have never known water to throw itself back in the pool. met 2 nice couples called michael and garry and alex and darren. if you are reading this lads then thanks for making my holiday excellent and a good laugh, although me and michael did get dirty looks for laughing and giggling. i have booked my next years holiday back to sidari in corfu as tom and john want £2000 to book again, maybe if it was a 5 star hotel, but that price cannot be justified. there are 3 women working in the supermarket downstairs who make no bones about giving you the once over and then talking about you in greek. to anyone going have a nice time.
