Zakanthi - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Craig S

Hello myself and my partner are just back from Kalamaki, Zante. We had a meal at Zakanoh, but found the outdoor lighting to be inadequate. The food was ok but nothing special. The biggest problem was the service, it was terrible and to add insult our meal cost us 40 euros. I would not recommend this eating place while you stay at Kalamaki. We found another place called "Escape", the food and service was better and it only cost 20 euros!

Escape - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Just back from Zante, we stayed at Hotel Dennys just round the corner from Escape. In the end up we had a meal at "Escape" 3 times, because we liked the price, service and the food. Highly recommended and the staff are friendly. P.S. Avoid "Zakanoh" on the main Kalamaki road, in contrast to "Escape" it was very poor indeed.

Fanari - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Dinned in the Fanari resturaunt after the waiter talked my family and I into coming in after he had showed us the special deals. Firstly the meal did not contain what we asked for and even after informing the waiter they did not apear to be interested. On getting the bill we noticed that 4 Euros had been added to the bill as a cover charge. This equated to 1 euro each for the table cloth, bread and candles that I hasten to add where not even lit. Due to the bill being in Greek, I asked the waitor to explain what was what exactly. He informed what the 4 euro charge was for and promptly / abruptly walked away shouting " it's just a cover charge" I, my family and another astonished English family all felt that we had been tricked into this restaraunt. I would strongly recomend that you do not visit this resturaunt at the end of the Kalamaki road and the corner where the main Laganos shops are especially if you have a family and you would like to know exactly what you are paying for prior to entering over their threshold.
