| We didn't actually go to Villa Areti, but next door, to Villa Hara. It was just brilliant! The villa was used by the family who owned the olive grove, who now live in a lovely Italian-style house nearby. There are 6 villas, two of 2 storeys, the rest single storey. Ours was very well equipped, oddly enough boasting two trumpets; not something we found very useful, but there you go. We had the correct number of pots, kettles etc, and a shower cubicle. Yes. The local wildlife was cute apart from 2 house lizards who tried valiantly to eat all the moths on the balcony, and brought along their ugly pet mantis to help. Joanna at Mais supermarket was very nice and helpful, but I'd really recommend the super lady who (singlehandedly) runs Stone Stores and Cafe on the way to St Nicholas' Bay. She offers internet facilities and a great book library, as well as great drinks. We found Babbis Taverna was unbeatable - once we'd found it, we didn't go anywhere else. Very nice pastitsio! Don't miss Gerakas Beach. It's the most beautiful place on earth. |

Have just got back after a week staying here,on a last minute deal. The villa was lovely, with olive trees surrounding it,and great veiws across to the sea.If you like a peaceful location, you'll love this, the only disturbances we had was from the roosters that like to make sure you are up bright and early and the farmer out shooting who knows what(no tourists seemed to go missing)! In the evening watch out for the two chickens that come to roost in the olive tree next to the villa, and make sure you have some milk in,for the cats that like to come and see who's at home! The beaches in the area are all great,St.Nicks is the nearest(15 mins walk) but our favourite was Mare(4 mins in car,40 mins walk)scenic, peaceful(no watersports)with crystal clear water, and a small beach bar. The only critism we had of the villa itself was the toilet, being next to the kitchen/lounge,and with one wall that didn't go up quite to the ceiling, and below the bedroom, with wooden floor that didn't quite meet the walls,if you are not on intimate terms with those you are holidaying with, you soon will be!!(the ability to whistle loudly, may be an advantage!)Also make sure you take your own loo rolls if you are arriving late,as there were none supplied, you don't want to be caught out! Nightlife is very quiet,Gallini taverna very good,(a bit of a walk, head to Porta Roma and follow sign)and the bar opposite the Dimitra apartments on the Mavratsis beach road is great,George does some mean cocktails!!
