We have just come back from 2 weeks at the Villa Alexandros. We have to say this is the best accommodation we have ever stayed in in 12 holidays in Greece. It was absolutely excellent. There were plenty of large fluffy towels, plentiful hot water and an excellent supply of toilet paper, all sadly lacking on previous Greek holidays.
The villa itself is excellent, it is detached,it has a television (but not many English channels) it has a garden with sunbeds, table, chairs and parasol. It has a large veranda which we loved sitting on. It has good views over the village. It would accommodate a family with up to three children, but there probably is not a lot for children to do in the village. It would be best to hire a car. It was SO QUIET at night, there were no noisy bars nearby or noisy motorbikes, just crickets, and in the morning the dawn chorus from the birds and the cockerels crowing.
I would highly recommend this villa. I would rate it 10/10. It is available through Direct Greece. Just one or two small points on the downside - 1 the bed was not very comfortable and probably would be no good for someone with back problems, 2 the light bulbs were rather dim.
The owner Christina was excellent, nothing was too much trouble for her. Also, the Direct Greece reps Jenny and Jemma were excellent. Their only aim was not to get money from you by way of selling you trips but to make sure you had a wonderful holiday. The people in the village are very friendly and helpful.
The worst part of the whole holiday was Zakynthos Airport. What an experience that is. They just cannot cope with the number of passengers. We were only surprised that the flights landed and departed on time.
