just came back from staying at the Dionysis & Tonia apartments and think these were next door - Tonia overlooked this pool?? if i am correct, i dont think these are opened - noone about and pool had no water in it. maybe they dont open unitl beg of june.

| Prior to booking our holiday, we were informed that accommadation in Greece was 'basic'. As we were going on holiday self catering, this was of no significance to us. Souli is basic, but it is run by a lovely couple, who would bend over backwards for you. My family had a great holiday, whether we go back or not (it was extremely hot - JUL 22 - AUG 5 2004) I do not know, maybe in cooler months. The studios are in with easy reach of all the amenities, and I for one would never bad mouth the complex. Message for JO if I ever come back - Irn-Bru in Vodka is much, much better than that black stuff I had to endure (coke). Love to you and Denis and family. | REALY NICE STUDIOS BASIC BUT ENOUGH TO HAVE A GOOD HOLIDAY.THE SWIMMING POOL WAS ALLWAYS CLEAN AND PLENTY OF SUNBEDS.THE BARS AND RESTAURANTS ARE ALL ABOUT 2 MINUTES WALK AWAY.THE BEACH 5 MINUTES WALK.SO IT IS IN A GREAT LOCATION.I WILL BE GOING BACK THERE NEXT YEAR. | ||||||||||

| FEAR & LOATHING IN KALAMAKI Outweighing the exceedingly pleasant personalities of the owners of the Souli: Floor flooding due to malfunctioning fridge, ants abounding throughout the first floor interior and the stench of sewage in the rooms was an arousing experience on arrival at 07.00 at the Souli Apartments in Kalamaki, following an all night journey with two children. The Souli Apartments, incorporating Jo’s Beach Bar, (“open to all”, albeit few appear to take up the offer), gives the appearance of a sad and dismal place. The rooms, we had two apartments, are unattractive, dull and “furnished” in a depressing and less than basic fashion, (e.g. one soiled knife between two). Regrettably, the rooms are also unclean, seemingly with years of lime-scale build up and a general sense of grime abounding, particularly around the “kitchen” and shower areas, evocative of a dirty Parisian urinal in the 1960’s. One client, the owner pointed out, found the rooms highly efficacious. The owner would have been wise to terminate her sales pitch at that point but continued. It transpired the guest would consume copious amounts of Metaxa before plunging into the pool, only to return some minutes later to imbibe similar quantities before taking to his bed until the next round. It is reasonable to assume that he was in such a tired and emotional state that he was unable to comprehend his true surroundings and did not require or was unable to employ, the basic equipment for a self catering holiday. Equally, it may be that he was teetotal at the point of his arrival there, and the general condition of the place took its early toll. In a nutshell, the apartments require a total upgrade, fumigation and careful sterilisation to, at least, bring them into line with today’s minimum acceptable standard. The perceived idea of the owners that the guests, (who might just be seeking a quiet end of evening drink at the bar), must be subjected to continuous nightly movies played until the early hours with a sound system to rival a Live Aid concert, thus making sleep impossible, is an ill formed judgment and one that may encourage disaffected guests to end matters in the pool with lead weights firmly affixed. Within 24 hours we managed to upgrade to the Carretta Beach apartments a few hundred yards away and were entirely happy there, the earlier fear of dysentery having evaporated. The difference between Purgatory and comparative comfort is minimal, (about 150 euros), but worth every cent. Holiday representatives have a difficult task, being required to listen, to and deal with, disaffected clients in addition to their other duties. It is therefore right to praise Rachael, the Manos rep who dealt with the upgrade in a most professional and discreet manner. Her employers would do well to consider their future relationship with the Souli before they, and/or their insurers are required to bear the expense of a series of claims. Rachael obviously has a difficult task contenting her clients in the face of such lacklustre facilities and deserves full credit and early parole! | ||||||||||

| Souli is for those who wish for a quiet holiday... The family, Jo, Denis, Krista and jason are exceptionally warm and welcoming to everyone who enters their pool bar. Nothing is too much hassle for them. To those who complained that there was no toaster or kettle, hmm, seriously what did you expect for self catering? As for those who complained bed sheets/towels were only changed once in the fortnight, all you needed to do was ask... we did, and we were obliged immediately. Jo works her hardest to run that place and I'd say she does a god damn good job of it, as does Denis and her daughter. Keep up the good work Jo, and see you all next year!!! | ||||||||||

| we got a late deal so we didnt expect too much, although we did expect it to be clean!which it wasnt we never got a towel or linen change for the week we were there, no kettle or toaster either apart from that location was good, family that run the place were nice | ||||||||||

| If you are going to the Souli Studios be prepared to give your studio a good clean before you settle in we stayed at number 4 and it stank and was very dirty. That said once we cleaned it, it was ok. Also take a spare towel as you dont get any clean ones through the week.The Manos rep is useless and expect a 60 min transfer from the airport even though it is only 3 km away.If you are looking for somewhere just to crash out you will be fine here, the resort is brill and the beach is lovley,also the locals are really nice. PS if you are going out soon please feed the kittens they live at the side of number 4. | ||||||||||
