Margarita Studios(Apartments in Kalamaki) |
| 9/10 | |
The margarita studios are comfortable and in good condition, although for 3 of us it was a bit difficult trying to store our suitcases. The 2 ring hob was a bit hopeless so take a travel kettle if you want a cup of tea. We stayed for a week and we got new sheets and towels twice which was good, the bins were emptied aswel. The maids are friendly and the man at the end of the drive is helpful and you rent the air con and safety deposit box from him for 55euros a week. Theres plenty of pools surrounding to choose from as most of the apartments in Kalamaki dont have their own. There's also a really good shop over the road where you can cash in travellers cheques and they sell alsorts of things like the basics to travel adapters and mosquito repllent! Margarita is 5 minutes from the beach in one direction and 5 minutes from the taxi rank and Kalamaki main strip in the other direction.
I miss it so much i do recommend Margarita cos we found they were suitably located being a short drive from laganas if we wanted to go but we could get away from all the hustle and bustle in Kalamaki of an evening whereas it chaos in laganas!

Anyone going on a Greek studio holiday expecting 4* luxury is naive in the extreme.
We stayed in the Margarita appts. 7th June - 14th June.No problems at all. It was clean tidy when we arrived and the sheets were changed when we were there and the studio cleaned once. The owner Magda and her son Dennis were always onhand to give help and advice and were polite and friendly. Yes Greek plumbing is world famous for its eccentricity. And its amazing what u can do on a two ring cooker. We used the cooking pan to boil water for tea coffee etc. No problem at all. Some people (especially the Brits just love moaning|). Highly recommend this lovely, quiet, beautifully set complex

My wife and I stayed at Margarita Studios for a week commencing 1st June 2007. First impressions were that the apartment was very small. Just a bedroom with wardrobe, kitchen and tiny bathroom. The bed was comfortable and sheets changed midweek. However the cutlery was almost non-existant and cups were as if they were straight out of a jumble sale. There was a two ring cooker that worked! but we had to buy a little pan to boil the water in for coffees. The shower functioned OK and, now this is a first for Greece, there was a shower curtain. The bad news was that there was a leak from the soil pipe for the toilet. That was unpleasant but repaired on the Monday. It appeared that we were the first occupants for the season as the floor needed a good sweeping. Additional purchases we made on day 1 was a fly spray and plug-in mosquito killers- Recommended. They are essential! Apart from the leaking loo there were two further issues. The safety deposit box... Do not use it. Although there were no details of charges posted they check to see if the key is still in the safe and then try and charge 30 Euros for the week. I paid 2 Euros after an argument as I'd only used it for 1 night. Also the storeroom was right outside our room and we had 24hours of torrential rain that cascaded off the main roof onto the tin storeroom roof. It was VERY annoying and kept us awake most of the night. Location though was excellent near the beach. checkout my photos here

![]() Margarita studio's are a good basic apartment, with a fridge, 2 cooking rings, and a shower. the bathroom is a bit small, but it does its job, all you have to get used to is putting the loo roll in the bin! And like other people have said take some loo roll with you. Everyone gets a nice little balcony, where we spent many times eating our snacks and getting ready for Angels (how we miss it!) and Plus Soda (Hi everyone!) The 2 ladies that look after the place (we call them 2 euro's cos thats all they seem to say!) are helpful if you help them. They don't mind cleaning up for you, especially if you are hungover! They just laugh at you moaning! ![]()
Me and my friends have stayed there 3 years running, obviously if it was no good we wouldn't have gone back! The shop across the street (literally 20 steps!) provide many english things, like cereals, crisps, pot noodles, smirnoff ice, tampax, etc. They also do fresh bread which I have to recommend as the breadcakes are delicious. I can't wait til next time.

| if there is three grown adults goin to stay here . i think not the
rooms were so tiny you couldnt swing a cat in one. best thing is the
air con that only just about works without falling off the wall it made
alot of noise and the bathroom was a joke . be prepared with your
clothes hangers and lots of toilet roll

| last 2 weeks july 2004..... we had a brill time apartments were basic but we got a good last minute deal £637 for 2 people for two weeks, im not complaining!!!! food and drink( 5.90 euros for a 3 course meal) is so cheap to eat out we never cooked, but it was good to have facilities to make a coffe etc. rooms were cleaned 3 times a week which is fair, sheets changed twice a week. Magda the owner/cleaner was very friendly and basically an honest woman, if you are nice to her she will be nice to you, she never bothered us by trying to sell air con, saftey deposit boxes etc. we hired a fan from the shop as it was cheaper and she made a grunting noise when she saw it,we smiled and so did she. The only problem was the language barrier, but if this a problem for you, go to brighton. It was truly a lovely holiday, the location is excellent, 6 euros by taxi to the mad nightlife of Lagana, so you can take it or leave it.300 yds from beach.Low key bars, excellent resturants We spent most days on the beach or the pool, hired a car for 3 days, which is well worth doing, we saw the whole island, porto roxa is a must. In the evenings we would go for a meal in one of the many resurants then usually end up in Alissadros bar its great.... if you go say hi to Lee the owner from Carol & Stewart.... The cave bar is also a must, a little man picks you up in a buggy and takes you up to the bar which is set in the caves, views over the bay are incredibal, i really cannot explain it you have to see it for yourself, real romantic! Overall we loved it and the apartments are basic but fine, just chill out go with the flow and you will have fun...... lots of luv 2 anyone we met while there..... keep havin big fun xxx | ||||||||||

| if your staying here you wont get your sheets changed very often and take some toilet roll with you. the woman owner/cleaner is extremely rude and very abusive, on one occassion she routed through our room looking for a key to the safety deposit box which we did not ask for, i dont know how she expected to find it in our drawers or our suitcases! she does not understand any english only air con, safety deposit box really, oh and euro :)and i understand that greece is basic but these are beyond a joke. | ||||||||||
