My daughter and I stayed at the Zantino Apartments during the school May holiday time. Alykes is a lovely resort which hasnt been spoilt yet by over building unlike some other resorts on the island.
The Zantino apartments are in a great location, off the main road and within 2 minutes walk of the resort centre and restaurants/shops. The area at the rear has chickens and goats and it was lovely to be woken up in the morning by the sound of a rooster. The food in the tavernas is very good and everyone is so friendly.
We were in apartment 3 and Im not sure what was going on in the cupboard above the sink but it stunk! Also be prepared for only a hand towel in the apartment. Although we normally do self catering, we have never been anywhere where you only got a handtowel.
We went out on the simply Zante bus trip - great if you like stopping every half hour for a coffee in a taverna - I wouldnt recommend it!
Try the village wine - great stuff (sold in plastic bottles in the supermarkets) and soooo cheap.  |

 Well
I can think of no better recomendation than that we have altered our
holiday dates in order to be able to stay in the Zantino Apartments.
Not a matter of choice since Thompsons cancelled our accomodation
despite it being booked weeks ago. Although offered alternative
accomodation we decided to move dates instead. Can't miss being looked
after by Effi after all she is like our guardian angel and panders to
our every whim.

Excellent location, cheap & very cheerful. The cleanest place I've ever stayed. Effie just makes the place so hospitable. Only apartments in Greece where it was difficult to get COLD water!!!!

| This is a fully recommened place to stay. Great location, helpful and friendly staff, clean, well kept, what else can you say. We had a kettle, toaster, small cooking hob, fridge, all the basics you need. Leave the appt and turn left to a small shop run by Spiros, and his mother, he is always willing to help you. Great beaches, lots of places to eat all different. We have just arrived back after 1 week, and recommend this place to all. Pat and Rob Room 5. |

sparkling clean!! Effi who cleans the place is friendly and does
an excellent job!!
Its the first time we stayed in the apartments and we were very
impressed!!
only one flaw the pillows on the beds, feather jobs not good if
your asthmatic!
when we were there july 16th to the 30th temperatures sored to
45 -48 with no breeze. get your self a fan from denis motorcycle
hire opposite relax restaurant. who by the way, also own the
apartments and two supermarkets.
great full breakfasts there! recommend the special after a night
on the metaxa. if you can got to the apollo taverna.

We cannot recommend these apartments highly enough. Although they may appear a little basic, for Greek standards they are about right. Only thing lacking is Air-Conditioning. You can hire fans from lots of places though. The apartment is set just off one of the main roads, behind other buildings so you don't hear the road often. You look out towards the salt flats & the mountains. It's fantastic.
As for the resort we have spoken to people who go back every year. The most number of returns we've heard of is 18 years (for 8 weeks at a time). There are plenty of places to stay. The beach is great for swimmers & non swimmers as it slopes very gently.
There are loads of different bars & places to eat. If you prefer the quieter life this is the resort for you.
We went back to the resort for the first time in 4 years & people in restaurants recognised us!
A bar that's worth a visit is Exotica; Yannis & Akis (Debbie if she's there too) are fantastic hosts.
We have just booked our holiday for 2004 in Zantino. If you are there in June we will see you there. All the best for a great holiday, if you have not been before - you will enjoy - it's practically guaranteed... |
