Hello :) We're aged 14 and 16 and went to Zante for one week with our parents in August 2009. It was our favourite holiday. The airport is very tiny, so as soon as we landed we went and collected our baggage straight away with no problems, then we were met by our Thomas Cook rep. The coach took us to Nikos. We were greeted by Nikos' son called Theo who made us feel very welcome and showed us to our room :) The weather was beautiful - 30 degrees at 10pm!! The rooms were very clean and the lovely maid came in everyday and even folded up our clothes for us (sorry about that!). We also hired a little suski jeep to take us around the island which was very nice, but speak to Nikos first because he will recommend good places! In the evenings, we would walk into Alykes and go for a meal then come back to the bar. Nikos and Theo are very intresting to speak to and showed us photo's of their life, also Nikos showed us some pretty good paper tricks to show to our friends back home!! We found the pool to be very clean and the food at the bar was lovely and very reasonabally priced. Also there is a snooker table which we often used!! The island itself is beautiful which we loved to visit again especially Nikos and Theo (and ofcourse the rest of the family... Grandad Nikos is great!). However, the only downfall about our holiday is that we were told the wrong time to go and see the famous "Shipwreck" which meant that we missed our bus (this was nothing to do with Nikos). It was on our last day so didn't see it! Anyway, WE LOVE ZANTE AND WE LOVE NIKOS!! For a traditional summer holiday with a very relaxed and laid back atmosphere you should visit this island! We will deffonately go back if we had the chance.

Nikos apartments =  I went with my boyfriend (17) and my grandmother (dont be nosey about her age :P)and we all thought it was fandabbydosey  The room was basic, but for the price I wasn't expecting much. Air conditioning probably advised as it gets quite warm in the night. The cleaner was brilliant as we left a mess almost everyday.. not intentionally. And she washed the dishes we left after breakfast. Brilliant  Food great value for money at the bar on site, beach isn't too far away and neither are the bars and tavernas. Alykes has a very friendly and warm atmosphere with no fear of any danger or anything  About a fifteen minute walk from Alikanas.. or get a Yiannis horse and cart, always great fun. A great place and a great holiday, much advised for somewhere cheap and cheerful ! Couldnt ask for a better place x

Lived at the nikos apts since the 1st of october for a week It was dirty and smelly, crockery and cutlery had to be sterilised before we could use them, sheets and towels were only changed after we went and asked. Toilet and shower were a disgrace my dog has better hygiene than the people at the nikos. Maybe the nikos was a good place a few years ago but it has certainly slipped to the bottom of the ladder, My Thomas Cook rep Amanda didn't want to know when I mentioned my problem, she said that the Apartments were up to standard. If that is Thomas Cook standards then I certainly won't be using them again. All she wanted to do was party.I know this comment won't change anything but it might help somebody else from making the same mistake as we did. Zante is a lovely island full of warm'th and lovely history and friendly people. So come on Thomas Cook raise your standards a bit and maybe we will get value for our money. Will be back to zante but not with Thomas Cook or at the nikos.

having worked in alykes in 2003 i have stayed at most apartments in the area, decided to stay at nikos this year as knew is was off the beaten track and have no problem with the walk from the centre of alykes or the beach.

we stayed in the annex and not the main block, on the third floor,

on arrival we had to take our own luggage from the main building, and as we were staying for over 3 weeks had quite a lot, asked about air conditioning and was told we'd have to walk back to main building to pay for it, girl on arrival very lazy and not helpfull, the cleaner mopped inadequately each day and we arrived to a full bin in the bathroom, with other peoples paper in, and a blocked floor drain, when every time you put the bathroom tap on flooded, from main drain in bathroom floor, as i speak a little greek i informed reception and nothing was ever done!

the veiws from the apartments in the annex, are outstanding but rooms are basic even for greek standards,

all in all your holiday does not consist of 24 hrs in yr accomodation, but it certainly helps towards the enjoyment of it, so if you want the peace and tranquility these are ideal but if you want at least a basic hygene standard give them a miss,

i have been going to alykes 13 years but wont be staying at nikos again unless it gets an overhaul.

Just spent another fantastic 2 weeks(12-26 July)at the Nikos. This was my 3rd visit and it will not be my last, these are great apartments for people who are not expecting 5 star luxury. These are fairly small but are adequate enough for what you need on holiday. The family are all very helpful and will do anything to help you if they can.

Met some really nice people at these apartments, all out to enjoy themselves.

I have just returned from my second trip to these apartments. Nikos, Theo and the family are great hosts.  They looked after us in every way possible as they did with all their guests - even the constant moaners [of which there were a few] but these were mainly the ancient who thought kids should not be there - book a no kids holiday next time eh - try Saga!  or be like me and the old man  - young at heart, taking the grandkids along.  Our rep, Amanda was also brilliant - something very rare I have found - look after her Thomas Cook.  We will be going back next year and taking a few more of the grandkids too with their respective parents of course.  Thanks Nikos - it was brilliant.

1/10 Gary Lewis (September 19, 2008)

Went to Nikos for 1 week holiday with my girlfriend and family on 4 Sept. Can honestly say it was the holiday from hell!!!  At sometime between 4.30 and 5am, thieves broke into the bar area and stole the safety deposit boxes, just ripped them off the wall!!! They were only held on with two screws into plastic rawl plugs!! Nikos was only concerned with the fact he had lost money and his mother's jewellery!!! Thomas Cook were worse than useless, but the local police and interpreter were fairly helpful.

As per another post, there were no clean sheets or towels all week, but the maid mopped and emptied bins each day. Reported a blocked drain, and a dangerously sharp tile on the pool, to Nikos son Theo on the first morning there, but nothing was done.
Have to agree with another post on here, Dmitri at Apollo was a great entertainer, and we loved Alykes. Will probably go back next year, but will avoid Thomas Cook and Nikos like the plague!!!

me and my fiance went to nikos in july. im only 21 an i would have to say its not reali for my age. either is alykes for that matter. loads of bars but all empty. no night life wats so ever. nikos didnt help matter. they had only 2 nights of entertainment themselves, one which was a greek night, never laughed so hard in me life. all the people that were there got up an left. the other was karaoke the night before we left which wasnt too bad. we were friendly with everyone there an noone gave any nice remarks about nikos or his family. we found him very cheeky an not very helpful. the bar is overpriced as is the food. the rooms are quite small but not bad. you dont go on holiday to spend all day in your room so wats the prob.

altho when u arrive the apartments look out of the way, they arent. 10 mins take u to town where me an my fiance hired a quad for the week. 55euro an only 7 euro filled it wi petrol an done the week. not very fast but cheaper than hirin a car or takin a bus. we even took it to the waterpark an made it home in one peice.

waterpark is pretty good too altho my man broke his nose comin down a slide an the lifeguard sat an watched him struggle to get out of the pool with blood everywere.

smugglers cove trip was a disaster. we went on a wee boat to get to the beach itself. they parked half a mile out an told us to swim, i cant swim so never got. a man ended up comin back for life jackets as his kids were stranded on beach, the men on the boat didnt care. i was sick over the side an the water was rough an ended up goin for a refund in which the guy tried to punch my man. not very nice pple. that was the blue dolphin trips from alykes.

in alykes itself, we had dinner in a place called denni's everynite. gorgeous steak etc. they were all scottish an english pple an the nicest pple we met overthere. it was a good hol but we didnt stick round to spend time wi nikos or his family. an it did get borin at night with nothin to do. but the weather an the shoppin is great. i know this only a review on nikos, but theres some insight.

10/10 Dave Thomas (August 04, 2008)

Returned yesterday after two fabulous weeks with partner and daughter (8) in Nikos Apartmets in Alikes.

We loved our time there - the apartments are but 10 minutes walk or so from a beach with a lovely small pool and bar and 15 minutes walk from Alikes where there are a number of tavernas all of which serve good, reasonably priced Greek food (we don't know about non-Greek things). As a bonus, Dimitis' Apollo bar had always a nucleus of interesting people and you walk past it on your way to town and back!

The people are all friendly and helpful and really respond if you try a few words of (even appalling) Greek.

At Nikos itself you can find everything you need: a fab (if deep) pool, Nikos' lovely family, pleasant company and enough space to escape from company that is potentially not so pleasant.

The stay is what you make it - in true Greek style. It is not slick and commercial with everything laid on and slotting together seamlessly BUT it more than compensates by being real, friendly, inclusive and fun.

Were the world not so big and interesting, we would be back like a shot.

10/10 TONY DODGY (July 29, 2008)
Just returned from my 2nd visit(certainly not my last)to the Nikos.
These are not the best apartments you will stay in,but hey in life you get what you pay for.
These are very small(but fairly clean)apartments. And if you think about it all you need is somewhere to
put your clothes take a shower and rest you head. The staff are friendly and will try to help if they can.
The pool is fantastic, but if you have children it is quite deep(even at the shallow end).
Had another fantastic stay here from 13-27 July ...
Thanks to the people from NI .... You were the very best.
