Just returned from probably our best holiday ever at the Koukounaria Apartments, we will definitely be returning next year (if not before, watch out Leo, I will get you back!!).
Had requested 1 bedroom apartment, which we were allocated on arrival, basic, clean accommodation, remember to bring own kettle/toaster as there is an extra charge, also charge for air con which we found necessary, and safety deposit box, deposit for breakages will be refunded on departure.
We did little other than make coffee as the breakfast both in complex and in local restaurants (Fantasia, Relax) were superb. Spoilt for choice for evening meals, newly opened Lino Bistro at complex was excellent, good value for money, wonderful, attentive staff (can't thank chef Ayman enough for baking wonderful birthday cake for our daughter's birthday), Jimmy and Donia both lovely. Outside of complex, we liked the Nisiotiko (turn right out of complex 200m on right, traditional family restaurant, very quiet. Buca Bar for cocktails on beach was good.
We were greatly entertained by all of the staff, especially ( cheeky monkey) Leo, lovely Jimmy and Nikos (great craic in the Blues bar in the evenings, even changed the music to suit whatever we liked) Beware the Black Sambuca (lethal liquorice liqueur, lovely, but very very strong, couldn't find any to buy to bring home).
The pool area was fantastic, huge, deep pool plus two smaller children's pools, spotlessly clean pool area (little too much chlorine, but necessary I suppose) our children lived here all day. Beach is about 5-10 mins walk, can get quite windy in afternoons (watch out for low flying beach umbrellas, I was hit in the back by one - ouch very painful,
Traditional Greek evenings were good fun, very family orientated. We booked two trips with Mamfredas agency in village, firstly boat trip around island (E27 per person half price for children) which was quite good, if a little long and does tend to get quite choppy around the north of island (so beware if you tend to become seasick). Secondly trip to waterpark, which was fabulous, although does take a long time to get there by the time you pick up other travellers from neighbouring villages on the way (E20 per person), coming back smaller bus and direct route.
Didn't use Airtours Rep at complex at all in fact I didn't see her until the morning of our return as she didn't accompany us to the complex on our arrival. |

| There in July and last year. Fantastic hotel, people brilliant from Leo, Billy, George, Miri and the owners Elani & Yannis. It was like being part of a large family. We did have a problem with rooms when we arrived and received absolutely no help from Felicity the rep. ( in fact she was so rude) but Elani the manager was there to sort everything out and everyday was making sure we were all happy. This is the policy of the family, nothing is too much trouble. Would recommend to any-one particularly families. |

Just returned and was very disappointed with the room .We paid for an appartment but the room we received was basically a studio with a pair of patio sliding doors in the middle (not great when you have two daughters of 10 & 13). Also you would expect that when you book a self catering appartment you would at least get a kettle and a toaster included, not so here you have to pay.
That said the rest of the hotel facilities are very good, the staff very freindly and the pool excellent. Also you can cut through the double side gates behind the main block to the main resort centre which is a safer walk at night.
Just make sure when you check in to insist on a separate bedroom room if you have paid for a 5 person appartment.

Hi Karl! The apartments do have plenty of ramps and lifts so you have no reason to worry (although some may say that some of the ramps are quite steep) but apart from that you shouldn't have a problem. Hope you have a fantastic time..i have to wait another 8 weeks . Katie |

hi there iv been to the koukkounaria apartments twice before and i am returning on wednesday the 30th may 2007. when i went in may last year i went with my mum, dad and younger sister we met a family over there and did most of our trips together even though there was 13 of us. We hired out the scooters which can be a bit dangerous but they are cheap to hire. I also went in october with my aunty and uncle when the season was ending and i had a good time.
The first time i went i met mario and he is a lovely lad i also met jimmy, leo, and miri. When i went back in october i met up with mario again but i also met his older brother tony who took an interest so i spent most of my holiday with him driving around in his car and he was showing me around. when i got back we kept in touch and i cant wait to c him when i return. he is drop dead gorgeous he is supposed to be coming over this year to stay with me so that should be fun. He made my holiday special. The koukounaria is a lovely hotel and you are made very welcome over there. Jimmy is also a really nice person who is visiting me this year.
Emma smith. leo is married now but his wife lives in another country. And tony and mario are fine although tony doesnt work at the koukounaria anymore as he is a mechanic but he is always around to see that how i met him.
anyone with any questions please just leave me a message and i wil reply
i will be writing on here w hen i return so speak soon
mario is the one with no top on and tony is sat with me. |

Just returned to the Wirral after two weeks at the Koukounaria and what a lovely place, very friendly, very good service, although you only get one toilet roll so remember to take some with you or buy them there......the pools were fab and well catered for the children. The only thing was the cockrels in the early morning, boy did they cockadoodledoo all the time . Alykes is a lovely place and all the restraunts were lovely especially the Ambrosia upstairs on the main street wow what a great meal and reasonable with it. Try Palm Trees Bar on the main road, what lovely friendly staff, thanks to Lisa and Zakey and there children, Sharon the barmaid makes the best cocktails..... We would go again its well recommended |

Just returned from a week at the Koukounaria, our first time in Greece, and we couldn't fault it. Our room was a good size for four of us, two adults and two teenagers and was well kept, maid service every day, plenty of clean towels. The staff at the pool side bar and Blues Bar were excellent and kept everybody amused, Miri, Tony, Jimmy and Leo made the holiday, thanks guys. The pool area was excellent with a large pool, kids pool and jacuzzi, well maintained and no problem getting a sun bed!
We didn't have to hire air co or any of the other extras and got our deposit back at the end of the week. We would recommend the Koukounaria to any one visiting Alykes, we thought that it was the best complex in the resort.
Best restuarants were the Olympic Kitchen, Ambrosia and the Indian. Breakfast at the Fantasia is to be experienced...ask for a "belly buster".
Ian, Val, Katy and Ewan.
