September - (Best Time to Visit)

Abby B

September is a good time to visit Zante,as the temprature is still hot,but it is not too crowded as it is towards the end of the season.
We went in the middle two weeks of September, and although a couple of resturants had shut down for the season by the end of our first week, there are still plenty of  places to go and eat..
We went to different resturants there every night during our two weeks, apart from a couple of resturants which we visited twice.

Poseidon (old) - (Restaurants in Argassi)

My partner had his best meal ever at this resturant during our two week holiday, but my meal wasnt very good but maybe an off night for that particular recipe

Ilision - (Restaurants in Argassi)

I loved the food at this resturant, the ingredients were fresh, the red wine beautiful, the best meal during my two week stay!!
The salad was one of the best ive ever tasted and my main meal a mexican style dish was excellent, not only is the food good the prices are reasonable as well and the portions are large-throughly recomended!!

Sorry i didnt edit the options at the bottom of the page!!!!

Zante Town - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Abby B

Zante town is worth going for a walk round the shops and to watch the boats going in and out of the port,we went for one day and that was enough really, theres not lots to do to be honest,be careful about getting the bus back as it isnt  very clear about what bus to get on,if in doubt ask the bus driver or a friendly face in the queue

Argassi Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Abby B

Argassi is a small resort but there is plenty to do,lots of resturants, bars, nice walks, shops etc
Although it is a small resort everything is to hand so you dont waste time walking/getting taxis etc all the time,we liked it a lot!!
Its a good place to go with a mate or in a couple as when we went there was  mixed age groups which was great.
The only complaint i have is our complex was mainly occupied by 30 years and upwards and during our second week, for some reason  two rooms were occupied by youths (age about 18-20 years!) who were noisy and a total pain!!!

Green Frog - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Abby B

We liked the Green Frog,it had a nice casual atmosphere and you could even use the intenet while you were there!
The food was nice althought the red wine was just okish.

Hillside Studios - (Accommodation in Argassi)

Abby B  (28 September 2006)

The apartments have a great view but the walk up the hill is quite steep,i would recommend using  a moped if possible, the problem is you cant just nip up to drop some shopping in your room during the day as the hill is so tough to climb on a regular basis in the heat.
The lady who lives in the apartments is very nice and she dealt with stuff/queries straight away, hello Marrietta!! We loved your little dog,Kiki !!
The only hassle we had was for some reason, during our second week, two rooms were occupied by youths about 18-20 years who were noisy and a total pain, considering that the age groups in the apartments was about 30 years and upwards,we wanted peace and quiet and they wanted to party...

Peppermint - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Abby B

Well worth a visit, good fresh food,i had a delicious vegetarian pasta meal and a carafe of lovely white wine!

Stars Restaurant - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Abby B

We eat here a couple of times and the food was good with a large selection, also if you are into football there is usually some match or football news on the big screens.
The food options include plain choices, such as chips, pizza,if you dont want to have something too heavy, especially when its hot!
There is a good atmosphere in the evening as well as its usually busy in there.

Island Tour by Coach - (Zante Excursions)

Abby B

We booked with Smile and it was ok,the guide was very friendly and helpful,we give the Argassi Smile office positive feed back about her.
Good points-you get to see the island in a quick time, you can buy local (delicious)honey, olive oil, wine and good such as wall hangings/mats,also there are lots of stops so you can walk about, the Blue Caves Boat trip is well worth a visit and going in the small boat means you can actually get into the caves to take a good photo.
Bad points-you had to go to the cafe and resturant the coach stopped at,as it was usually the only place to eat nearby, and it was quite expensive (bring some sandwiches/snacks with you!),We spent a lot of time dropping people off in the resorts at the start and end (about an hour)it was ok if you were on the first drop off point!!
Also(this isnt the companies fault) we lost a bit of time and had to rush in the end as the same people kept being late and we had to wait on the coach for them!!Typical eh?

Oops forgot to say that our coach didnt have a toilet,so be warned, ask before you book as some of the remote places you stop off at dont always have the use of lavatories!!
