Olympic Holidays - (Tour Operators in Zante)

M K

We returned yesterday from Zakynthos where we had a wonderful holiday based in Alykes.  We travelled for the first time with Olympic Holidays and would have absolutely no hesitation travelling with them again. The staff  were totally efficient and professional, from check in at Glasgow to arrival at Zakynthos, luggage collection was very quick and mini coach transfer to resort also fast, allowing for the roads!   Our rep Louisa was just so sweet, our son (11) said she made the world a better place!   On our return home, again total efficient and friendly.  The rep took us straight into the airport,  in front of queues of people already waiting, for whatever reason, we were checked in and waiting in departures (another story!) within 20 minutes of arriving at airport, can't ask for better than that.      Some people do obviously have the misfortune of having unhappy holidays, but there are others who are so caught up in the claim culture that they seek every single problem and elaborate, these persons then slag off perfectly good tour reps!  Families with very young children should have enough responsibility not to book allocation on arrival holidays but have the common sense to check out the brochure for appropriate holidays instead of trying to save 10 quid.........

Don't hesitate to book with Olympic, great company.

Akis Studios - (Accommodation in Alykes)

M K

returned yesterday from Zakynthos, stayed at akis, lovely place, vivien and family very friendly and helpful. v v hot so we hired a fan, that lasted 2 days and traded it for air con (paid difference of course, 70 euros total quite a lot I thought but there you go) total necessity to sleep, room was like a fridge after that it was great.  apts basic but clean and cleaned regularly, agree with d thomson, I also missed a kettle and toaster, but managed to boil a big pot and use a little pot as a scoop to make tea ( when in rome as they say!) afterall I did take tetleys with me! and coffee!  supermarket 2 minutes away which sells nice soft fresh rolls and lots of cold meat, fruit veg etc for continental brekkies.  we thought the bar snacks very reasonably priced, 3.50 euros for burger and chips (they toast the bun so if you want a soft roll remember to ask them not to toast the bun!) 2.00 euro for a toastie - 4/5 choices. 1.50 euro for soft drink.

Recommend these apts. but remember a good mozzy spray!

PS to d thomson is you son jack?  if so what an earpiercing scream that wean has!!!!!

S B Bar - (Bars in Alykes)

M K

This bar is for a particular clientele, you have to have a sense of humour!  and be one step away from being certified, after all the bars alterego name is the Asylum!  great place. free pool table,  poker sets, cards, draughts, etc.   Colin and Geoff  say it like they see it, sometimes rude sometimes lewd and it you are the butt of the jokes, ruthless!  we had a good laff and were made to feel welcome.  but please  for god sake don't go in wearing white socks!!!!!!!!!!

If Colin and Geoff read this, thanks a lot from the Scottish contingent.

Alykes Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

M K

alykes is a lovely quiet family resort, we stayed at the akis at the top of the salt flats opposite the beach, 10 minute stroll, very nice.  no louts or noise at night.

Water Village - (Places to Visit in Zante)

M K

We arrived at the park at 2.05pm the discounted rate applies from 2.30pm so we waited 20mins then the staff let us in for the lower rate. 2adults and 1 child would be 44 euro(17 x 2 + 10), we were charged 31, so that was ok.  The park is a bit small with only 7 slides plus lazy river, one swimming pool and one kids slide, octopus style.  We found that the half day was long enough, the park closes at 6pm.  Fun for an afternoon, but remember your sun cream.  I forgot mine and suffered later that night.......
