Bougainvellea - (Restaurants in Agios Sostis)

Gerry S

I think Paul's missed the point here - if you eat at the Bougainvillea you are treated well - it is after all your money they want, and will go out of their way to get it!
However, if you stay there and eat elsewhere you are treated like dirt - I know, we stayed there 2 years ago and it was a nightmare. We'd booked three rooms, they wanted to try and squeeze us in to two. When we got the third room it wasn't finished. We got covered in plaster dust, the door wouldn't shut/lock - it swung and banged for a week before Yannis got off his lazy backside to fix it - this at 11.45pm!!! We didn't eat there either..........There are far better places in Aghios Sostis who's owners delight in your company whether you spend your hard earned cash there or not.

I'm trying to find Matthews email address - it's on their brochure.
Does anyone know it?
Thanks.

I agree, Aghios Sostis is far better than Laganas!
We go to Zante May and September every year for the past 6 years and spend alot of time at Manthos. I wrote their new brochure for them! And last September the hotel we'd booked let us down and Terry lent us their car to get our cases, and they let us have one of the rooms by the new pool. Nothing is too much trouble for them - fantastic family. Anyway, thanks once again, have a great Christmas!

Castelli Hotel - (Accommodation in Laganas)

Hello there Karl.
There are plenty of places to hire Quad bikes in Laganas, and there are plenty of petrol stations. Spiros has a limited number of double beds available - if you book through Thomson specify it at the time of booking - I think they charge a small supplement even though Spiros does't get paid any extra.

Hello again Karl.
There is a water park in Laganas - called the "Wet'n'Wild" - which is about a mile or so up the main road out of Laganas on the right hand side.
Nice little run out on the quad bike if you don't fancy the walk!
There aren't too many slides there and some people say it is expensive for what there is.
I believe if you go after 2.30 the price is reduced.

Kevin's given up waitering(?) now - I saw him last September. He's gone back on the tools and is working in a garage "Up North"!

Hi Gary,
There are loads of places to hire bikes and quadbikes on the main road in Laganas.
However Spiros (the owner) does arrange hire directly from the hotel - always at rates below the high street, and delivery straight to the hotel.
So take your pick - I would suggest going with Spiros, particularly because if anything goes wrong he sorts it immediately, others may not.
Whenever you're going, have a great holiday.

For those of you who want to see a bit more before booking, or for those that have been before and want to book direct with Spiros - the Castelli now has it's own web-site where you can book direct, contact the hotel - whatever!!

Go to:  www.castellihotel.com

Zakynthos Airport - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Gerry S          1/10

This was about my 20th visit to Zante - and my last !

When we left Manchester our cases weighed 38 kilos. We used loads of stuff out of them and queued for 2 hours at Zante airport to be told they now weighed 44 kilos and we would have to pay excess baggage of 10 euros per kilo.
I knew I'd put on weight - but my cases??
We had no hand luggage, bought no duty free, so were actually under-weight for the flight!
Their scales are fixed and they are ripping off customers left right and centre.
We were one of about 50 from our flight alone!
It's not the airport but the airlines - we were with Last Choice.
Please beware - one young girl in front of us had to pay £96 extra.
A sad way for all to end their holiday.........

Gerakas Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Gerry S

Hi Mike

You need a car to get to Gerakas from Kalamaki. Drive to the Kalamaki end of the Laganas - Kalamaki road, turn left, all the way to the end, turn right, all the way to the end - this should be Gerakas!
It's a good few miles though so don't try walking it !!!!

Cheers

Gerry
