Dinos Hotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Mr T

I will be going to stay in the Dinos Apartments with my Girlfriend for two weeks starting this Sunday.

Everyone's comments have been very helpful in making sure we know we're in for a good holiday (and cheap too !).

I will report back in a few weeks to let you know what we thought of it.

Until then, I have a week left working with B.A, Face, and Murdoch, so I'd better look busy.

Hey, fool.....

Dinos Hotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Mr T

Excellent !

Best apartment we've ever had, and the 2 weeks seemed like a month !

We got one of the better apartments at the front, but to be honest they all looked nice.

We only paid £240 each for the 2 weeks, some there seemed to have paid a little more, so look out for better prices.

Would recommend to anyone looking for something other than 18-30.

Tsilivi Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Mr T

Loved the place. Nothing too over the top, but just right if you want to relax and keep it mellow.
Would recommend to anyone. Go on the boat trip round the island with Tsvili Travel, only 15 Euro each. Just make sure to take food and drink, as the snack bar is VERY expensive.
Best restaurant without doubt was the Acropolis, nothing else came near.
Waterpark was okay, worth going too but no where near as good or big as the one in Crete. Go in the evening as it's cheaper.

Water Village - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Mr T

Went on the first day it opened and was just happy to be able to go to a waterpark to be honest !
The park wasn't ready yet at all, if your looking for a lawsuit, just visit this place and take your pick for what you want to "damage" yourself on !!
I'd recommend not bothering going with any of the travel places and just booking a taxi there in the evening. It's only 10 euro to get in then.
Not that many slides, about 6 in total. Some of them were awful, one goes so slow the only way your gunna die on it is from old age !
Couple of very good ones, but generally nothing compared to the one in Crete.

Tsilivi Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Mr T

Very nice.
Water is nice and shallow, sand is pretty good.
If anyone can work out why the bloke selling fruit salad says "Double...Fruit Salad.....By Dennis the Menace" please let me know ! Why it was by Dennis the Menace is a mystery to me !

Dinos Hotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Mr T

In reply to Samantha, the apartments are about 10 minutes from the beach, 15 minutes from the centre of town.
In relation to the Level Bar, to be honest its the other side of the resort entirely. And unless your that bothered, it's really not all that for the 20/30 minute walk.
If you turn right out of the apartments you end up at the top end of the resort, or you can go down the track at the back of the apartments to get to the middle.
For Bars, I'd recommend Dennis for friendliness, but apart from that just go wherever seems cheapest. Cocktails can be as cheap as 2.5 euro, or as much as 4 in other places.
Best restaraunt was the Akropolis (sp?), beat everywhere else hands down. We ended up only going there towards the end of the holiday.
As for getting pissed, your better off buying some cheap champagne, and loads of beer etc, coz the prices really aren't that great.
You'll have a great time tho. Enjoy !

Tsilivi Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Mr T

Joan,
I don't know about the price of petrol, but food and drink wise it's not too bad. To buy a pint in a bar/res your looking at 2/2.5 euro, for a cocktail anything from 2.5 to 4. food wise your looking at around 11 euro for a steak or something like that, or you can go a bit cheaper and get pasta, or local dishes for anything from 5 euro to around 8 or 9.
We ate out every night, and the most we ever spent on a meal and drinks was 30 euro. most nights we could manage around 20. Go to Akroplis as it has THE nicest food in Tsvili and the prices are very good. We kept going back once we realised no where else even came close.

Family Restaurant - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mr T

I never went in this place, mainly for the fact it looks like a roadside greasy (excuse the pun !) spoon !

Why anyone would want to eat in here I don't know, it was mainly for families with too many kids and not enough sense.

Right across the road is the Akropolis, about 10 times better food and just a little classier !

Faulty Towers - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mr T  (15 August 2003)

Oh dear....
We walked past this place loads of times. Every time we couldn't help but wonder why anyone who's travelled 3 hours across Europe would want to go to a crappy cafe that I wouldn't set foot inside if it was in the UK let alone smack bang in the middle of what probably was a lovely greek road !
Yet you'd still see them, eating frie up's, comparing the handouts they get from the government.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS, IF ONLY FOR YOUR CHOLESTRAL LEVELS !

Metaxi Mas - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mr T  (15 August 2003)

Nice food and atmosphere, just a shame we had to wait over half an hour for our bill. I asked for it twice, and then actually went to grab it, and it hadn't even been written up properly yet, 10 minutes later, and the tip has been put back in my pocket !
If you do go in there, try the prawns, they were massive !

Olive Tree - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mr T

We thought this place looked nice, and on seeing the menu I didn't mind how much more expensive it was due to the fact it looked like it might be really nice.
Unfortunately, it wasn't all that. No free bread for starters, which I find amazing anywhere, but certainly somewhere that charges so much. Then when the food came, it was nice, but there wasn't enough of it.
I wouldn't really recommend this place at all, a bit too stuck up for my tastes. I like a good meal when I pay through the nose.

And reg. this comment !

"( not every night, but several times per week)"

From what I remember from Maths classes, that works out about....lets see.....every night !!

Sorry, couldn't resist !

Ariadne - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mr T  (15 August 2003)

Odd looking owners. The bloke looks straight out of a die hard movie, no friendliness in his face at all. And the woman looks out of place at all.
Then when we ordered, my gf asked for a glass of wine. It came over, and had stuff swilling in it. I said not to worry, but she was a bit concerned, and then when I looked a bit closer, there was cork bits in the bottom. The bloke on seeing me came over to ask if everything was okay, to which I pointed out the cork and he explained it was the start of the wine, but didn't move to change it or anything. I asked if he could, and in the end he did.
Then when I go my food (Rabbit) I ate most of it, but it was one of those meals you seem to have eaten loads but it looks like it did when you started still ! Anyway, he came over looking all pissed off, having just commented to the woman in Greek, the body language said it all. I just said I was full.
At the end of the day, if your paying cash to these people, you expect a good, friendly service. We didn't get this.

Contessina - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Mr T

Nice food, not brilliant but well worth it.
Thought the place only did Pasta and Pizza, I'm sure there'd be a lot more people in there if they knew they did a full menu !

Sandras Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Mr T

The most unfriendly, soar looking woman worked in here. And thank god you got a free shot when you went in, coz the cocktails didn't do an thing to me !
