Village Inn Apts - (Accommodation in Laganas)

Mark H

We have just got back from a week at the Village Inn, 3 adults, and 2 kids. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment, which in reality is 1 bedroom containing a double bed, and 3 single beds in the main room. There is air conditioning in each room, and the private bedroom has its own balcony. The apartment is very spacious and clean, and has a superb fill size fridge and freezer.
The family which run the Village Inn are very friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. The Pool is kept clean, with plenty of sunbeds, and is well used by the families which stay at the Village.
The only slight drawback is the distance from Laganas center and the beach. It is 1.5 - 2 kilometres and takes around 20 minutes to walk. If you have young children, then try to avoid walking as there is very little by way of a footpath and most of the walk is on the main road. The taxi fare is 5 or 6 Euro each way to the centre. The taxi fare from the airport to the Village Inn cost us 9 euro.
All in all the accommodation, by Greek standards, was excellent, and I would recommend the Village Inn.
By booking our accomodation through their website, and our flights independantly via 'Instant Holidays' we saved approx £400 against the best price that a travel agent could get for the 5 of us.

Ionian Sea - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Mark H

This is a beautiful setting in which to eat.....and that's it!
The Ionian Sea looked so popular, with plenty of people eating there, that we were suckered into trying the place. Big Mistake! this was without doubt the worse place we ate at all week. The service was poor, with all the waiters being quite ignorrant, and one or two of them in desperate need of deoderant - not nice when you're trying to eat. However, the food...when they eventually brought it was't worth the wait. Small portions, over cooked, and looking like a poor excuse for a meal. Needless to say, no tip was left, and we didn't re-visit.

Mamas Place - (Restaurants in Laganas)

You want a quick snack, or something to soak up the Amstel, then this place does great Gyro's...really, really tasty.
Also had the Pork Souvlaki one night which was fantastic also.

Paradise - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Mark H

There is more than one 'Paradise restaurant'. The one we went to was about 15 minutes walk up the main Laganas road, past 'Black & White, and towards the Village Inn and Oscar Hotel.
This place was so good that we visited it twice. Extremely friendly staff, who know how to keep the kids smiling as well as giving great service to all their cutomers.
Word of warning....If you are gonna have the 'Mixed grill' for 2 people, then make sure you are both really hungry....there's a real platefull of tasty chicken, lamb, steak and pork to get through.
This was the best place we ate at.

Tasos Restaurant - (Restaurants in Laganas)

My opinion on this one is a bit hazy, as we ate after a few too many sherberts that night. However, i remember having a pizza, because you could watch the pizza chef prepare it while you wait, you know the stuff where he spins the dough and throws it up in the air a few times. Pizza was great.
