Argo Bar - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W

Me n my mate Jackie r staying in Zante from 10th to 25th. U going from Heathrow by any chance Lee?

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

I'm going out to Laganas in 6 days and desperately need to know how much money to take with me! I want to have a good time but only have £700 for two weeks! Will that be enough?

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

I went to Laganas this year from 11th to 26th July and stayed at the Olympia Hotel with my mate Jackie. I loved it so much I have booked up again for next year at the same hotel. Anyone going during this time get in touch. Didn't get to the beach, but I did make it to the bars and every one we went in was great. Hot Lips was our favourite closely followed by the Pink Panther. Don't expect a quite beach holiday if u go to Laganas, you will be disappointed!

Hot Lips - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W

Me n my mate Jackie visited this bar almost every night this summer because the staff were so friendly (John that means u!) and DJ Andy was soooooo fine! We fancied him like mad and he had the voice of an angel! We also left here pretty p*ssed every night cos their frozen sex on the beaches were to die for! Well I will be back next year from 13th July for two weeks and this time I'm bringing a T Shirt! (For anyone who has been there u will understand why!)

Carwash - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W  (25 November 2002)

Went there on a Thursday night in July and it was cack. It was a foam party and we were all dressed up in our school uniforms (it was a school disco type thing) and we were really up for a laugh. It was half empty all night, upstairs was closed, the foam choked everyone and people were coughing and spluttering all over the place and the drinks were expensive. Really below average. Only good thing was that we were staying at the Olympia which was just across the road and down a bit from it so we could get wrecked and walk the two minutes home. Music was bad, foam was bad and there was no talent there.

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

Hi, as I said before, I went to Laganas last year and it was excellent. Kev, best place to stay that is still close by but away from the main street enough so that you're not kept awake is down by the Carwash. There is a hotel opposite called the Olympia and I stayed there last year and it was excellent. Clean, safe and quiet at night and lively in the day. There was also a hotel being built opposite (but there wasn't any disruption from this) and it may be ready this year but I don't know what it is called. That might be worth some research.
Anywhere you stay in Laganas is generally quite close to the action. You never really have to walk for more than two minutes before coming across a bar.
For the people asking bout clubs and bars, all of them charge roughly the same prices for drinks and there was no entry fee for Zero's or Rescue, the two main nightclubs. They aren't very expensive but that all depends on how much you can drink I spose!
Well hopefully I will see some of you out there! I'm there with two mates from 13th July for two weeks and we will be partying hard!

Spaghettomania - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Vikki W  (10 January 2003)

Went here at least three times during out stay! We even got a take away when we got a stomach bug and didn't feel like sitting in a restaurant. I loved it. Looked for restaurants on this web site before I went last year and this was the only one I could remember having even vaguely good reviews so I thought why not try it? Glad I did. Pizzas were the best I've had for a long time, cost was excellent and the staff were friendly asking me and my friend all about London (although one in particular was a little OVER friendly ay Jack!) but my only complaint was the benches were uncomfortable and there was a total lack of air con seeing as it is mainly an open air restaurant. I am definitely going back this year and taking my pizza friendly mates with me!

July - (Best Time to Visit)

Vikki W

Was in Zante for the last two weeks of July 02 and was shocked at the heat (not surprising seeing as London ain't exactly tropical!). In the 40's every day and one day in particular was v hot. The shop keeper across the road from the Olympia told me it reached 50 but I don't think it did. I don't recall there being any earthquakes while I was out there (but that could be because I spent 90% of my time drunk! Going back there for the last two weeks in July this year and can't wait for the heat, and having all that snow last week just makes me want it more!

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

I'm staying at the Olympia from 13th July for 2 weeks and I stayed there last year in July. The night life is excellent, if a bit far away! It takes about 10 minutes to walk into town and that can turn into a half hour trek when your wrecked and on your way home. We always took the horse and cart, but be sure to check a price first as some charge extortionate amounts. There are bars and clubs all over. I went to Ibiza last year and I would say Zante had more quality bars although the clubs ain't all that. Rach and Hannah, that should sort you out! Hope to see you out there!

Laganas Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Vikki W

Yes there is really a McDonald's! It don't taste too bad either (unlike the one I visited in Gran Canaria!). Me and my friend spent about £600 - £700 when we went there last year and that was for two weeks. Depends on why you are going on holiday I spose. We went for the alcohol (being teenagers) so it's not surprising we spent so much. I am going again this year and I am taking even more money this time. Didn't actually get to the beach but I just wanted to answer your comments!

Laganas Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Vikki W

That sounded really bad, I didn't mean we spent £600 - £700 in McDonald's! Just trying to answer people's queries all at once! Sorry!

Ruby - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Vikki W  (22 January 2003)

If this was the same place that I went to (off the main strip, down towards Hot Lips and Hotel Alexander) then stay clear! Prices were high for what you get. Knew something was wrong when our egg fried rice came out with carrots in! Had chinese here and it wasn't great. Was violently ill for the next two days as was my friend I went with and we blame it on the shoddy food here. Service was ok though.

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

Anyone looking for a map of Laganas which will show you where your hotel is in relation to everything you can find one at www.thisistravel.co.uk. Search for Laganas, Zante and then your hotel and look for the number of your hotel on the map. It took me over a year to find a map like this so I thought I should share it with everyone!

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

If you want to know what your hotel is like then go to the Zante Database section at the bottom of the home page and search for Laganas, then hotels and click on your hotel. You will find out what it is really like cos people will have commented on how they found it.

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

Went to Laganas last July and I'm heading back there with two mates this July too. Anyone fancy meeting up (maybe first timers to the island because I know my way around) then leave a message in my mail box with the subject heading Zante. My e-mail address is VW525@hotmail.com. All messages will be answered as long as you're not too much of a freak! Oh, and while I'm here, can I just ask do pigeons get vertigo?! It was a drunken (one vodka) conversation that never concluded and I'd love to know the answer!

Zante Town - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Vikki W

It wasn't necessarily a Saturday thing with all the places being shut! We went in the middle of the week in the morning and stayed here all day. Total waste. Don't bother. The shops were all closed and sold basically things you could buy for much cheaper by your hotel. The Body Shop was the only thing worth visiting for.

Laganas Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Vikki W

Hey Ricky n the rest of the Bolton Boys! You didn't leave an e-mail address (unless I'm just being blonde and can't see it anywhere!). Me and my two best buddies will be arriving in Laganas on 13th July 2003. I've been before so I know my way around, so if you need a guided tour contact me vw525@hotmail.co.uk. Can you put Zante as the subject heading so that I can distinguish between your message and junk mail? Ta.

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

Does anybody have any more information on the expected earthquake of summer 2003? I know there were rumbles last year, thank God I wasn't there to actually witness them, but I've heard a rumour of an earthquake hitting between July and October 2003. Can anybody tell me if this is true?

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

Cheers Kate, I might be blonde but I think you just totally contradicted yourself! You said that earthquakes weren't predictable but the rumbles and tremors last year weren't unexpected! Should I rephrase my question then, is an earthquake expected this summer?!

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

Me n 2 other girlies (two 20 yr olds and an 18 yr old) r going 2 Laganas on 13th July for two weeks. I went last year and loved it so much I'm going back! The nightlife isn't exactly full on like Ibiza but it isn't as laid back as other Greek islands. Anyone who would like a tour to the best places get in touch! Put Zante as your subject (so I can tell you apart from my Junk Mail!) and send mails to VW525@hotmail.com. If you are a bit weary of going because you don't think it will be lively enough then don't worry! You are guaranteed a good holiday in Zante!

Bad Boys Club - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W  (29 July 2003)

Went here a couple of times. Only went so I could tell Martin (the PR outside) to look on the website and see all the people commenting on him! He laughed when he heard and asked what these people were saying but I asked him to visit the site and find out for himself! This was one of our places visited on our last night, 26th July. Quite disappointing but we did go there early. I know it got better as the night went on though.

Thomas Cook - (Tour Operators in Zante)

Vikki W  (29 July 2003)

Stayed at Hotel Olympia in Laganas from 13th July to 27th July. Missed our welcome meeting but our rep came to make sure our tickets were ok and to introduce himself anyway. He was called Nick Prior and he done a fantastic job. He always had time for a quick chat to see how we were getting on. We had our CD magazine stolen on the second day from around the pool and he was great, filling in the necessary forms for us. Even when he was ill during our second week he soldiered on (even with that skanky scabby disease thing up his leg!) The best rep I have had on any holiday. An asset to Thomas Cook.

Hot Lips - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W

I went to Hot Lips in 2002 and remembered to pop in this year too. The frozen cocktails were to die for and this was one of the only bars on the island (as well as Cocktails and Dreams) to sell Reef! The karaoke bloke Danny was f*cking hilarious, his Eminem is excellent and when he wasn't begging me and my mate to sing, he was changing the words to songs so they were funnier. The food here was tops too, possibly the best southern fried chicken burger I have ever tasted! You must visit Hot Lips on the Kalamaki Road at least once to have a frozen cocktail and say hi to Anthony (I had a very strange conversation with him about horse diarrhoea!)

Cherry Bay - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W

Wasn't anything very special. Music was repeated every night so only go a couple of times otherwise you will get very bored. The surf board type tables were lethal, I hit my arm on them a couple of times leading to poking myself in the eye once! The free tequila went down well though. Didn't see any of the porn on the couple of occassions we went (damn shame that!)unless you could call the sl*ts on the bar a porn show. The shower would have been a good idea had it ever been turned on (well, ok it was turned on, but how can a dribble of water be described as a shower?!). It was quite hard to find too if you didn't go to the beach at all. Not the best 'club' on the island.

Chicago Bar - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W

Went here once. It is on the Kalamaki road I think so off the main strip. On 15th July all of the bars/clubs on the main strip were on strike and were closed so we were finding it hard to find somewhere open. That was the only reason we went in really. Had a laugh in there (mainly to do with the company than the entertainment!) but didn't go back again as it was so out of the way for us. The karaoke was poor, not much choice of songs, the drinks were average priced and I wasn't looking at the talent so couldn't tell you if there were many babes/hunks!

Cocktails and Dreams - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W

Enjoyed this place the most and therefore spent the most time here dancing and drinking the night away. The music is the same every night (I swear Zante needs to get some dj's with records out there!)but if you get drunk enough you forget this. The drinks were excellent although bloody expensive! Fifteen euros for three bottles! They served Reef which was a saving grace. Must try their After 8 cocktail, it is gorgeous. Dancing on the bar/benches is allowed but if you dare step on the table you'll be told to get down within seconds! Oh and if you are male and try to dance on the bar/benches/table. In fact I think the bouncers took against any male dancing full stop! Don't bother buying the CD with the Cocktails and Dreams music on, I did and it skips and jumps and is rubbish. The music is all old pop/cheese. Just think Chesney Hawkes/Tiffany/Bryan Adams and you are there! There is the occassional dancey song thrown in for good measure. Careful going down the stairs at the end of the night, it's a long way down!

Pink Panther - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W  (31 July 2003)

I went here in 2002 and knew I had to go back in 2003! On our first night we came here and we went back a couple of times since. Excellent entertainment, karaoke had a good choice of recent songs as well as golden oldies. The fishbowls have to be tried to be believed! It took us three hours to finish a small one once! I guess the flaming lambourghini's (probably spelt totally wrong!) were quite good too by the amount of people buying them. Tracey and Marie-Clare the waitresses were cool, remember to give them a sip of your fishbowl if you buy one in here, they don't get paid much but do a fantastic job! They also had the footie on the big telly at the front (well we did pay Marie-Clare to keep it on!). Only irritating thing is that being on the main road the music has to go down when the old Bill go past, but it is turned up again as soon as they have gone. It's just annoying when you are in the middle of singing a song. The restaurant next door (Bonanza) was excellent too!

Bonanza - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Vikki W

went last year and had to come again. we came here every other night (almost!). the man outside was really funny and seemed like an alright kinda bloke. bit p**vy but at least he ain't greek with it! the soft drinks were a bit cack so make sure you ask for a bottle of coke, lemonade etc. sunday roast was really really nice. breakfast was good too. service always quick. there were 7 of us eating 3 courses and drinks and it cost 98 euros which i thought was fantastic seeing as at least one of the meals was steak. didn't hear any complaints about this restaurant at all.

Spaghettomania - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Vikki W  (31 July 2003)

I am pretty sure this restaurant didn't give anyone food poisoning! You actually get to watch the chef cook the meal in front of you. Ate here every other night and didn't have even one complaint! Me and my two mates really enjoyed it, why else would we keep going back?! The girl outside was really nice, didn't force you to look at the menu if you didn't want to. The other staff were really nice too. They should do something about the air con, but what can they do? it's an open-air restaurant! They've got fans at the back so just ask for a table at the back if you want a breeze!

Bon Appetit - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Vikki W

I couldn't get a crappier meal if I tried! The first time we went in was ok, we ate pizzas and risotto. We were seated at the edge of the place which was ok. Bit hot and sweaty but they had the fans on, not much else they could do. We thought it was ok so we went back for a second time. BIG MISTAKE!
Whinge No 1: We were sat at the back of the restaurant at the edge again. We noticed within seconds that there was a birds nest in the top corner of the restaurant and there were birds constantly flying in and out, in and out trying to feed the baby birds. DISGUSTING. If this place was in Britain it would be closed down by health and safety. On one journey one of the birds dropped a fecking spider in my dinner so I left hungry.
Whinge No 2: The waiter service was crap. The table at the back asked for a bottle of water and waited well over twenty minutes before having to go and fetch it themselves. The table next to us waited ages for their food and asked for vinegar but didn't get it for a good ten minutes (even though the boys clearing the next table could have passed it to them). The table on the other side of us asked for their bill just as we sat down to eat and didn't get it til we had finished our dinner.
Whinge No 3: There was a family of about 8 shouting at one waiter because they had been promised a discount that wasn't put on their bill.
Whinge No 4: The toilet. Simply disgusting. Walk past the kitchen to get there.
Whinge No 5: Even though we all left at least half of our meal AND complained about the birds we were still charged full whack.
STAY AWAY FROM HERE.

Zakynthos Airport - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Vikki W

It is pretty cak. I went last year so this year when I visited again I made sure I was prepared! I took a towel to sit on, crisps and drinks and made sure all of my mates done the same! Luckily our flight into Zante only clashed with one other flight so I just put my elbows to work and wormed my way to the conveyorbelt to grab my luggage! On the return flight (bang smack in the middle of the day!) we were made to queue in the heat with no shelter provided. After two weeks of gaining a nice even tan my friend managed to get the dreaded strap marks! We were almost dying from heatstroke (ok I exaggerate slightly!). Our flight left early and we were all pretty chuffed to get out of the departure lounge (if that's what you can call it. It isn't worthy of being called a lounge.) The towels were used to sit on as there weren't any chairs free and most of the food went too. Luckily they have added a smoking room (ok it may have been there last year but I was just too short sighted to see it!) so no more 3 hour waits then 3 hour flights without a ciggie! Toilets are still a mess. No locks on doors, no toilet seats (who in God's name would nick a toilet seat?!), no paper towels or (working) hand dryers to dry your hands and the stench of... well I will leave that to your imagination! While we were out there, I am sure they were expanding it, there was definitely some work going on. And for the person who said Kos airport was worse, I have to disagree! I have never been to a worse airport than this!

July - (Best Time to Visit)

Vikki W

Definitely the best time to visit. I've been two years running and both times been caught in the middle of a heat wave! It was 131°F on at least one of the days! Luckily the pool was nice and cool. Mainly full of 18-30's people as the children are still at school and it's too hot for old 'uns! If you ask me, you couldn't go at a better time!

Telebank 24hours Cash Machine - (Banks in Zante)

Vikki W

The machines in Laganas are nearly always empty but if you do get to the front of the queue and you are lucky enough to use them, as long as your card has a CIRRUS symbol on (or basically a link symbol) I am pretty sure you should be ok.

Bad Boys Club - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W (19 August 2003)

CLARE HASBROOK: Any more info on Dave? I live in Bexleyheath near to Dartford n Sidcup, maybe I could play Cilla n matchmake?

Cozy Corner - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Vikki W  (27 August 2003)

Went here once when I was very drunk and can't remember much! They seemed to understand my slurred English though "I'll have that slice of pizza" randomly pointing towards the cabinet where they were kept seemed to get me a slice of yummy pizza and the chips were ok. Nothing too special I don't think because I didn't go there again!

Pink Panther - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W  (16 September 2003)

I don't understand why more people aren't commenting on the Pink Panther. Every night of our holiday it was packed out by 10 (except on the day of the bar strike but every bar was empty!). I know we couldn't have been the only people to enjoy ourselves so come on people, comment on the Panther and get the rating up from a measley 5/10! It deserves more than that!

Laganas - (Exchange Rates in Zante)

Vikki W

Make sure you shop around if you can. We stayed at Hotel Olympia and they kept our passports for the whole time so we didn't have much choice about where we got our travellers cheques changed up, but I did notice the big bank place on the main strip had a slightly better exchange rate.

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

I don't understand how anyone can not like Zante! It's a wonderful island. There is a large variety of everything on the island, people, music, pubs, nationalities, beaches. If you didn't enjoy your holiday, you really don't know how to live! I have been twice now and I fully intend on returning again soon. The people are so friendly and I didn't have any problems on either holiday. People, stop looking at the negative things. If you looked on this website before you went then you should know what to expect. If you don't like what you read, simply don't visit Zante.

Bon Appetit - (Restaurants in Laganas)

Vikki W

Don't get me wrong, the first time we went it was ok, but that was because we were sat away from the back of the restaurant where the birds were nesting. I just think it's disgusting that we had to put up with it. And it wasn't just us that didn't like it, there was a family of about 8 having a huge row with the waiters on our second visit.

Thomas Cook - (Tour Operators in Zante)

Vikki W  (22 October 2003)

It isn't the travel reps fault if the coaches are late! Greece generally is known for running on "Greek time" meaning that they are laid back about things. And what does it matter if you are a bit late getting to the airport (obviously on your return journey), it just means less time spent in that sh!t hole they call an airport!

Laganas Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Vikki W

I know this has nothing to do with Zante really but I was wondering if there was another page like this one giving information about Faliraki? Or if anyone went there last year, do they think it will be worth a visit this year now the police have calmed the place down?

Cocktails and Dreams - (Bars in Laganas)

Vikki W

Loved Cocks and Wet Dreams, has to be last stop of the night before heading over the road to Rescue or Zero's. Everyone who is going this year - YOU ARE GONNA HAVE A FANTASTIC TIME! Bars to visit - Pink Panther (a first stop of the night, huge fish bowls, cheap, cheerful, good waitressing and nearly always guaranteed a seat), Bad Boys (if Martin is working there again this year, typical Essex boy!), Waikiki. Clubs - there are only two and they are identical and next to eachother! Restaurants - can recommend highly Bonanza (fantastic Sunday lunch with a choice of chicken, lamb or beef), Spaghetti-O-Mania (on the Kalimaki road, great pizza's), Cozy Corner (good for the 4am kebab!). I'm off to Faliraki after two years of Laganas but I will be back in Zante next summer!

July - (Best Time to Visit)

Vikki W

I've been for the last two weeks of July for the last two years and it has been rammo out there! You will love it. Guaranteed good time. Find it hard to be sober here! Free shots everywhere, as well as lots of single ladies n gents. It is the new Ayia Napa but a hell of a lot cheaper! I'm off to Faliraki this year though but I will be back in Laganas giving it some welly next year!
