Enigma Nightclub - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Sandra A  (06 May 2002)

Hi I'm Sandra owner of the Enigma Nightclub, the newest nightclub on the island and the only one in Tsilivi. It has the latest in lighting and sound equipment and will cater for over 1,000 people. It has a separate cocktail area inside the club and also a cafeteria/snack bar outside. In addition, there are outside balconies on the second floor where you can and sit and enjoy a drink and listen to the latest in music. The resident DJs are from the UK and play all the latest club chart music. Hope to see you soon!

Yiasou Yianni - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Sandra A  (06 May 2002)

Hi I'm Sandra co-owner of the Yiasou Yianni restaurant which opened last year. This year it has had undergone extension and some refurbishment on the outside areas. It specializes in traditional Greek and international cuisine. All the food is freshly prepared and all the meats are cooked on charcoal. Organic produce is used as much as possible. As the owner is from Corfu, there is also a selection of dishes from there to try. There is an extensive menu to cater for all the family and also all the items on the menu are available for takeaway. Hope to see you soon!

Sandras Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Vincent L

Sandra's Bar very friendly, and take a genuine interest in making your stay the best ever, it’s a shame people walk past on their way to the centre of the resort, missing a treat!

Tsiolis Studios - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Vincent L

Tsiolis Studios is a great place to stay for a holiday, Frances and Denis are the delightful owners, who take a personal interest and desire to meet your every need. Very clean (cleaned at the very least daily) beautiful locations, views of the hills and countryside. A bureau de change and Travel office is located opposite also run by Denis and Frances. Sandra's Bar very friendly, again take a genuine interest in making your stay the best ever, it’s a shame people walk past on their way to the centre of the resort, missing a treat! We are returning in June/July this year for the third time, avoid the package deals and book direct, we estimate we save £400 going direct and got four star treatment. If you don’t mind not having the ‘airhead trolley dolly’ 12 year old Rep.

Metaxi Mas - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Danielle L  (01 August 2002)

This Greek restaurant run by two brothers is the possibly the best restaurant in Tsilivi. If you want to sample proper greek food which is by the way fantastic then this is the place for you. The staff are fantastic and make you feel very welcome, if you can play guitar let them know and you may be roped in!!! Thay only opened this year and are looking for business from people who appreciate good food and a good time! If you go to Tsilivi then please look up this restaurant it is out of the main drag and opposite sandras bar on the crossroads. Ask for sandras bar when asking for directions.

Alykes Tourist Train - (Zante Excursions)

Laura W

The train takes visitors inland on a round trip to Katastari and Pigadakia and back to Alykanas/Alykes. A visit to a local museum and Taverna were included in the price with a full English commentary (thankyou Dee) on the way there and back about the island,it's history and it's customs. The museum was really interesting due to Dee's knowledge of the people of Zante and the Taverna owner( Spiros ) was very friendly...you can buy homemade wine(try it first excellent!), olive oil etc.We would highly recommend this trip for adults and children away from it all in the hills.

Courser - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Janet H  (21 September 2002)

We came here on our last night as a special treat and we thought that it was the best meal of our holiday. Yes it is expensive compared to other restaurants in the resort, but we agreed it was worth the extra and we will return if we come back to zante.

Athena Studios - (Accommodation in Argassi)

Sia

I find most of the comments NOT TRUE !!! I think most of the tourists just want a refund from their holidays so they complain just out of a habit............ The place is excellent and the people running the place are the BEST!!! Do you laugh and joke 24hours a day? The rooms are of reasonable size, you have hot water all day long and as for the cleaniness the maid comes in your room everyday and collects your rubbish and cleans your room.The sheets are changed regularly and whenever you ask for extras the owners are always available. The pool bar is excellent with reasonable prices and good food. The pool is one of the best and cleanest in Argassi. The apartments are very close to all facilities. As for Yiannis the owner's son tries his best for all residents and not only.We have a great laugh every night with him. And as for Mark I think he is one of the best reps on the island. He is dedicated to his job.

Edem - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Sue

Why has no-one commented on this wonderful restaurant, we have just come back from Tsilivi, and tried most of the top ten, and found a lot of them very over rated. If you want a peaceful place to eat, absolutely delicious home cooked food, good prices and a very good service try the Edem. Located oposite the Courser Chinese Restaurant (also excellent)

Nostalgia - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Mike A  (14 October 2002)

All I can say is that its a shame that we waited till the last day to try this place out. Excellent food, excellent service, and a special thankyou to Tony the waiter who helped to make it a great night.

Elena - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Tim S

Situated on a back road behind the main resort, but only five minutes walk from the main front road. Walking up the main street off the front road, turn right at Hotel Palmyra, at the end of this road on the corner at the right. Doesn't look like much, but it is good! Tables are set in a small olive grove with subtle lighting. Food is excellent, wine is good, and prices a lot lower than the other eating houses in town, and no hastle to drag you in from the road. Staff must be some of the best and most polite in Argassi. Only downer is that all the tables are outside, so not great on a chilly or damp night. Bring a cardie!

Beer Academy - (Bars in Argassi)

Kev

Music bar run by Dennis & Nick, a couple of young lads who thrive on juggling bottles, glasses, ice cubes and anything else they can lay their hands on while serving up a wide variety of cocktails! Always friendly, and they always remember you and what you drink. The place was often full of the same "regulars", and the two lads were always up for a laugh. Prices were about average, and the service was always quick My only gripe, is that the TV sound replaced the music when a big match was on, but that's only an opinion from a football hating visitor anyway!!!

Heatwave Bar - (Bars in Alykes)

Natalie

best bar in the village with great music, drinks and friendly greek locals

Ole Ole Taverna - (Restaurants in Agios Sostis)

Pieter

Great family atmosphere,the owner and his son Robert will make you fell like at home.Very good prices and excellent kitchen.You can't miss it.

Anatolikos - (Restaurants in Alykes)

Kim S

If you want 'real' greek food then this is one of the best in Alykes. Excellent suffed tomatoes and aubergines, stiffado, mousakka and enormous swordfish steaks. If you expect chips, rice and pasta salad all served with your food then this isn't the place for you. Good taverna atmosphere with friendly staff.

Tristanos - (Bars in Argassi)

Legs 1  (14 October 2002)

Bargain priced cocktails, cheapest ones around and a good selection too. Good range of music and sexy barman. What more could a girl ask for?

Mount Skopos - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Thomas G

From Argassi, walk towards vasilikos...a mile out of Argassi on the bend in the road, a set of gates leads up hill for a mile and half. The view from the top near the Monastry ruins and the Church ( open only on 15 Aug ) is out of this world...warning...you may see a snake on route and as this is the road for the quarry near kalamaki, there are lorries sometimes using the track. However after spending 2 summers in Argassi, its amazing how many people wanted to go to the summit and were gutted when after walking up the road past Target bar couldnt get any higher after the Treehouse built by kapsoulis. Its worth the climb, infact try walking down the other side toward kalamaki and reward yourself with an ouzo and large beer at the bottom

Zeros - (Bars in Laganas)

Teresa

you will find that these words are used by most of the greek men as thats as far as their greek goes.
mounara == nice p***y
poutsos == cock
pouli == c**k also
kolos == bum
malakia == w**ker
barao malakia == plays with himself
ai gamisou == is f**k you
thelo na valw to xeri mou apo katw sta podia sou == i want to run my hands down inside ur warm legs
xuno agapi mou === c*mming in you sensual my love
(well i must say they manage to get alot of meaning into 3 words)
agapi mou == my love
moro mou == baby, sweet heart
kotopoulo== chicken (which sums up most of the greek men)

and the all important word which you will hear more often than any other word is
sagapw == i love you
well if you lot believe that you will believe anything :-)

Marinero - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Kostas   (12 December 2002)

“Marinero” is a family restaurant and as we like to say, we are one of the few remaining restaurants in Argassi that the really like and respect the greek cuisine The pleasent enviroment welcomes you to try one of our various dishes and flavours! We also offer friendly service and take our word for it, try it once and you’ll be back!!! How to find us: We are at the beginning of the main road of Argassi! (right next to the “Mirabelle Hotel”)

Fiat Seicento - (Hire Cars in Zante)

Webmaster

It's a very small car, but there's plenty of space up front for two adults, although the rear seats are only really suitable for small children. Mine was nearly new, from Eurosky, and it had electric windows and air-conditioning, although this wasn't as effective as some. The small size and willing engine makes it very easy to drive and it hardly seems to matter that the steering wheel is on the wrong side making a good choice if you're not confident about driving on the right.

Hyundai Atos - (Hire Cars in Zante)

Webmaster

This is probably the most common rental car on the island. The tall body creates a lot of interior space while the small exterior dimensions make it easy to drive about. It's comfortable and quite decent to drive, although I had an older model which didn't have PAS which made it hard work on the numerous hairpin bends. Newer models may well have this as standard so it's worth asking.

Suzuki Samurai (4x4) - (Hire Cars in Zante)

Webmaster

This is a very old-fashioned design and a bit of a donkey to drive. The steering is imprecise and the suspension is crude and bouncy. The soft top is fiddly and takes ages to put up, which is a pain when it starts raining (as it did quite a lot in 2002). Could be fun for a day or two, but if you keep it for longer you might end up hating it. It's worth paying a bit extra for something better (and newer) like a Suzuki Jimny, or go for an air conditioned car which will be cheaper and more practical.

Suzuki Wagon R - (Hire Cars in Zante)

Webmaster

It doesn't look like much, but I would say it's a great little rental car. The tall body means there's plenty room for 4 adults but it manages to feel quite stable through the corners. Mine was the latest model which is probably a big improvement over the old one, from Sunset Rentals in Kalamaki, and it had very effective air conditioning which is why I've rated comfort as excellent. The small overall size combined with decently precise PAS and good brakes make it easy to drive on the twisty roads. It's very economical as well so don't bother filling the tank. The only downside is a very small boot and the engine is a bit weedy, you can feel it slow right down when you switch the air-conditioning on!

Seat Marbella - (Hire Cars in Zante)

Webmaster

Used to be the mainstay of the rental fleets, but now well past its sell by date. They have all suffered several years of rental abuse so don't expect to find one with all its bits in working order. Only worth considering if it's really cheap and you're not fussy.

Water Village - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Admin

Opening date has been set as 1st August. Should be well worth a visit

Beelzebubs - (Restaurants in Alykes)

John A  (29 September 2003)

Waited ages for our steak which was no better than average. Don't bother unless you really must have chips with everything.
