Good luck to Becky, Nikos and staff for the new season, we'll see you at the end of June for our first visit of the year.  Best wishes from Anne & Steve

Benikos - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V

Nothing but praise as ever for Becky, Nikos and all the staff.  Ate here 6 or 7 times in 2 weeks and had a great time every time.  If you've never been here before, try it you will not be disappointed.  You're greeted at the entrance, served with courtesy and politely revisited occaisionally to ensure all is well, by the hardest working staff I've ever seen.  Steaks always cooked as requested and they're always happy to alter a dish to suit your requirements.  Wine is free and if that wasn't enough, you'll find your place setting graced with a "proper" fabric napkin!  Never seen anyone leave without being thanked for their custom and during the recent thunderstorm, customers were even being offered a lift back to their apartments...  Always a pleasure to eat here and a must for anyone new to Tsilivi.

Camelot - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V  (10 July 2006)

For quality, service and value Camelot delivers time and again.  Always a friendly welcome from the family as well as Bill out front.  Once you've been here you will be remembered.  On my first visit here this year, I was reminded of my last order from last October! Amazing.  Thanks to Anna, Stavros and the rest of the family, see you later in the year.

Gyroland Menu - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V

I think Gyroland has now found its niche...  From the restaurant with a kebab hut at the front which was fine, it went through a phase of trying to concentrate on the fast food but still tried to be a restaurant at the same time and it didn't work.  This year however the restaurant area has gone, the whole place has migrated into what was Ariadne's next door and it has become a trendy bar with fast food.  Personally not my cup of tea but it certainly has its place in the village and from what I've seen so far this year, very popular.  Nice to see Vicky and Ozzie (formally of another establishment in the village) again.

Koukos - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V

Nice to see Pannos again, I've always found the food and service here excellent, and this year was no exception, with the place packed out each time we went.  Sorry we didn't get to see you all a bit more but we'll be back to do it all again in October!  See you all then.  Anne & Steve Vincent

Majestic - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V

Ate here several times, breakfast and dinner.  Always good food and service and not a hint of any of the problems some people have mentioned in their feedback.  I would happily recommend the Majestic to anyone and will certainly be visiting them again in October.

Daisy Studios - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Steve V

Adding to Helena's comments, the Daisy is in a fantastic location.  The beach really is a few minutes walk away, probably 300 metres.  Whether you turn left or right out of the Daisy you will soon see a turning to the beach.  Personally I think that end of the beach is the best in the village.  There's now also three different road routes into the village depending on how long or far you wish to walk before you want to settle for the evening in a bar or taverna.  You'll love it!

Daisy Studios - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Steve V

Having just returned from a 2 weeks stay at Daisy I feel I have to praise Bill and Toula for their work at the bar during the day and Mark for his sterling efforts from 4:00 until the last person leaves.  For anyone who has never been to Daisy, the location, quietness and (general) cleanliness should never need to be questioned...  However, this year I have to report that we only received two towel and bed linen changes over the 2 week period and had no maid service at all on three seperate days.  This has not been the case in previous years, usually you'd expect at least three towel and linen changes and I think we'd only ever been missed by the maid once before.  Even so, it's not enough to spoil your holiday...  I'll certainly be going back at some point in the future and would reccomend it to anyone.

Benikos - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V

As a regular to both this board and Beniko's, I can only ever give praise.  I know things have been a little difficult with staff sickness towards the end of the season but you'd never guess from the welcome and service offered here.  It was (as ever) an absolute joy to visit and I fully recommend Beniko's to anyone.  I was also very impressed the way the staff dealt with Phil Collins when he visited again last week.  Not once was he hassled for autographs and I'm sure from the conversation I had with him, he'll be back again...  Apologies for calling you "Ringo" Phil, but after a litre of house red, it was quite funny!

Good to see you all again for the second time this year...  Hang on in there Pannos and we'll see you next in June 2007.

Camelot - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V  (15 October 2006)

All priase once again for Camelot, always good food and service and very good value for money.  Happy Birthday to Anna (18 on the 15th).  Have a good winter and we'll see you all again in June 2007.

Majestic - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V

I really don't understand the low rating the Majestic has at present.  The place is great, it sits in a wonderful location in the centre of the village.  Food, service and value all exceptional.  But I like it best for sitting and looking over at the all so very often empty McDonalds!

Benikos - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V

In answer to John's question (December 14)...  Turn down towards "Bowl em Over" at the supermarket with the escelator.  You'll see Benikos on your left, a little ahead...  Most evenings you'll be met near the supermarket by someone representing them handing out cards.  Always worth a visit and very few people only go the once.  Best wishes to all who work(ed) there, we'll be back in June.

Benikos - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V          10/10

Just back from a fantastic two week break at Benikos (Sorry I mean Zakynthos)!  Ate here most nights, several lunchtimes and a couple of breakfast as well.  As ever we found the service, food and staff of the highest standard, As well as unbeatable value for money.

Suggestion for Mr Edgar as a result of his post below...  As an expert on Kleftico, I suggest you leave good feed-back on this site for the places where you were happy with the dish, instead of leaving just 1 post for one business where you were unhappy...  Or was it a very quick trip to the island?!

Majestic - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V          10/10

An other gem of a place on the island.

Good food and service from some wonderful staff at probably the best location in the village.  Magda, I have no idea what's in those shots but I'm coming back for more very soon!

Camelot - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V  (01 July 2007)        10/10

Hi to Anna, Stavros and all the family.

Great to see you all again, kids had a great time on the occasions we came to Camelot and no doubt, we'll all be back soon!

Mavrikos Hotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Steve V  (01 July 2007)        10/10

Without knocking any other place I have ever stayed in within Tsilivi, I have to say this was by far the best accomodation I have had.  We took two grand kids (1 boy, 1 girl) aged 7 and 11, so needed an apartment reather than "rooms".  We booked through Kosmar and for our money  (almost £1200.00 for two weeks), we got two twin bedded rooms, a proper bathroom rather than shower closet as you often get in Greece, and a kitchen-diner, the kitchen being equipped with a microwave, toaster, kettle, sandwich maker and an multi-point adaptor so you could use several appliances at once...  Maid service everyday with some of the towels (of which there was ample) being changed each day.  The price may seem a little high to some but we did book at Christmas to make sure we got what we wanted and the flight supplement and fuel surcharge actually account for almost 22% of the total cost.

One word of warning though, for those with kids if you're going to use the bar...  3.5 Euro for a small "Slush Puppy" is outrageous and they know it.  It's a matter of choice, and we chose not to!

Jeep Safari - (Zante Excursions)

Steve V          10/10

In a word, FANTASTIC!

Booked our trip through Dionisos Tours in Tsilivi.  For two adults and two kids we saved 49.00 Euro's on our rep's quoted price.  Worth shopping around first but well worth the day out of your holiday.

That Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Steve V          10/10

Spent a good few hours and much "Buna" in here...  Great atmosphere and a good location...  Close to one of my favourite taverna's!  You can't ask for much more.  See you all in September.

Traffic Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Steve V          10/10

Another gem within Tsilivi...  It doesn't matter how long you're away from the island. it would always seem that George remembers you and lets you know it when you walk in or by!

Always good service, never have to wait to get served and always a warm welcome.  See you all again in September.

Daisy Studios - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

We've stayed at Daisy at least once a year for the last 5 years and have always found towels to be plentiful... Further to this they are changed several times a week too, so you shouldn't have any problems or the need to take your own.

We were in Tsilivi about 6 weeks ago with a 7 and 11 year old and had no problems keeping them occupied.  You'll find in most tavernas that the staff will make a fuss of the kids, especially if you go back to the same place a couple of times.  Beniko's is a very family oriented establishment which is well worth a visit.  We'll also be at Daisy in 6 weeks but without the grandchildren this time.  So we'll probably see you there Kelly.  You'll find the Daisy close enough to everything when you want it, and just far enough away when you don't. Believe me, you'll have a fantastic time and will almost certainly return...  See you soon.

Message especially for Kelly...  From your comment below it's obvious you had a bad one in Spain.  I've never heard of anyone having to leave Zakynthos in similar circumstances.  Daisy is in a wonderful location just 200 meters from the beach (in my opinion the best end).  There's a little supermarket next door so you don't even have to walk into the village proper if you don't feel like it.  I've seen gangs of roving teenagers in Spain, but nothing like it in Greece.  Tsilivi truly is geared up for all ages as you'll see on your first day.  Without boring eveyone else on the board, if you want to hear where my wife find comfortable and relaxing etc, drop me an email at steve.vincent40@ntlworld .com and I'll give you as much information as you want.  If not, we'll see you there next month.  Whatever else you do, stop worrying about it, you're going to have a great time, honest.

No a/c in any of the rooms I've ever had over the years but I think they rent fans and kettles at reception.

Benikos - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V          10/10

I can only agree with Maria's comments below...  Reckon I might have seen her in Benikos several nights running in June.  In fact, thinking about it, there were several familiar faces each night!  Proof it it were needed that once you've been to Benikos, you always return.

Table for two please Becky for Sunday 23rd about 9:00pm.

Benikos - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

What can I say, just back from another great two week break in Tsilivi and spent many nights in Beniko's always in the calm relaxed atmosphere of a well run establishment.  Breakfast here is great too and if you ask for it you can have a full English but with a village sausage! The meals as ever were fantastic and I hear the chocolate surprise dessert is true culinary delight.  Also heard that there'll be a revised dessert menu for next year, I'm sure that'll be great too.  My best regards go to all the staff and regular customers that probably know me now...  Especially my old mate Ringo!

Majestic - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V          10/10

Once again whilst in Tsilivi I was drawn to the Majestic.  Food and service always great whether it be breakfast or dinner and we came here several times.  Nice to see Magda again and hope to hear from you after the season closes.

Camelot - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V  (09 October 2007)        10/10

Nice to see all the family again, breakfast as ever is superb value and I would recommend this place to anyone, especially those with kids.  Also look out for the waitress Anna pushing the twins around in the buggie in the evenings...  Certainly attracts some attention!

Planet Studios - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Steve V

Hi,

I've been visiting Tsilivi for years but have never stayed at the Planet Studios.  Therefore I'd like to ask the usual questions like:-

Do the rooms have a kettle?
Are an adequate number of towels provided?
Is there air-con and if so is it free in July?

All answers and other comments welcome.

Steve

Valantinas Castle - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Steve V

I've been using this place for several years but after this year, never again!  It pains me to say it but my last visit ranks as one of the worst meals I've had in Tsilivi in 14 (2 week) visits...  There were four of us and after ordering drinks we chose our starters and mains...  First out was one of the mains, this was sent back and then three of the starters came out...  After a "bit of a caf-uffle" in the kitchen the fourth came out but the the other three had already been consumed!  Then the mains appeared, well, three of them. The bolognaise we'd seen once before and two mixed grills...  Then more caf-uffle...  Half a pint of beer arrived as an apology while my mixed grill was being cooked...  However the waitress that brought it took the beer I was drinking which had best part of half a pint in it! Eventually my mixed grill arrived with a really generous portion of chips... A pity really as I'd ordered Greek roast potatoes...  By now I was eating on my own as the other three had finished theirs and I left the chips...  The waitress began clearing the table while I was still eating and then had the cheek to ask if everything was alright.  I told her I was not happy and that I had not asked for chips.  She looked at me and said what do you expect, we are people not robots! The "people" still charged full price and left me wondering what a robot would have charged!  I will never go there again, nor will I recommend it to anyone...  Steer well clear!!!

Sadly this place is no longer open...  Such a pity but as the village has grown a few of the more traditional/less commercial places have gone...
