Plus Soda - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (24 October 2005)

Despite being in Kalamaki at the end of the season, the evenings spent in Plus Soda were top. Cocktails were the best, and helped me sleep at night after the earthquake!! Staff at Plus Soda were excellent, polite and funny, but please remember Nick, no-ones dad is Santa!! Hope to return to Kalamaki very soon, and try and win some more breakfasts in quiz night, thanks, and regards to you all, Santa and his wife?!!

Two Brothers Studios - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

Very basic, but more importantly, clean. Pool area was excellent, however being there so late in the season, venturing into the water would probably have caused a good bout of hypothermia, I'm not that brave! Cooking facilities not up to production of even beans on toast, two rings cannot really be classed as self catering facilities, however there are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants within easy walking distance. Some supermarkets produce "butties" to take to the beach so no problems eating during the day. There is a fridge in the room, so storing water, milk and most importantly beer is possible. The shower room provides a laugh a minute, tiny shower cubicle and the curtain, as previously mentioned by a fellow visitor, allows total flooding of the room!! The area surrounding the apartments is quiet, apart from the local dogs, who seem to have competitions as to who can bark the longest, loudest or latest!! On top of this, the local cockerals appear to have their clocks set at any other time than local time, certainly not crowing at just day break (unless the sun comes up at 1 am!!). All in all, as dedicated "Canariophiles" who had never been to Greece before, we had a belting time, and hope to return to Kalamaki very soon, whether it will be Two Brothers, who knows, but we would not rule it out.

Plus Soda - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (25 October 2005)

Have not got Plus Sodas e-mail address Jess, but here is Mermaids if thats any help? Mermaids@otenet.gr

Olympic Holidays - (Tour Operators in Zante)

Lesley S

This was a late booking "cheapie", and the price offered by Olympic was excellent, with brilliant day time flights out of Manchester flying with Monarch. Check in at terminal one was a nightmare, took us half an hour to find that check in desks are upstairs, no signs over any of the desks to inform you which desk to use. Eventually checked in, went for a drink in departures, Monarch flight showing on board but no gate number identified. Continued to check board regularly, then 35 minutes before departure time the flight was showing "now boarding". In the time it took us to walk round to the gate an announcement was made "final call for flight MON 1216", at no point had any other call been made !! Good flight out, met by Olympic rep, Karen, for transfer, very informative during the journey. Karen was our rep for the duration of our stay, welcome meeting continued to provide good and useful info for the area and the island as a whole. At no point was there any attempt to coerce you into buying trips, for this we thank the company. Karen was a very good ambassador for Olympic, always present at our apartments when she was due to be there, and a pleasant and polite attitude. We would book with Olympic again, and if Karen reads this, thanks, and all the best for next summer, even if you go to Halkidiki!!!

October - (Best Time to Visit)

Lesley S

Marinos Studios is a bit of a walk out of Laganas, in a quiet street behind the main road. We have not stayed there, but our son did a couple of years ago and loved it. Has a small pool, and a lovely bar. The owners are very friendly, in fact we popped in for adrink when we stayed in Kalamaki last October. The weather when we were there last October was gorgeous, sunshine every day, but you will definitely need warm fleeces/sweatshirts and trousers for the evenings, down to 9 degrees one night we were there.Have a good time!

Dias Studios - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

What can I say that would do justice to these lovely apartments and the truely fab family that own them? Well only one thing really - WE WILL BE BACK!!! Thanks Labros and everyone for giving us such a brill holiday, you're all stars, miss you all already, but will be in for a several visits in September, and save room 303 for September 2007. Regards to you all  Andrew, Lesley and Mark xx

Lesley S

First time we have eaten here last week - gorgeous. The mixed meze was to die for, we will be back in September, thank you for a very enjoyable evening. We know now why people rave about it so much!!

Acapulco Marinos Apts - (Accommodation in Laganas)

Lesley S

Yes indeed, what a lovely family. Didn't stay there, but the barbeque/quiz night well worth a punt. Nice bar, and the complimentary shots ensure a night of dreamless sleep

Will be in for a visit in September I'm sure, will the quiz team be as good though?!!!

Dias Studios - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

Yeeeeeeehah!!!! We've already booked for September 2007, and I am just "working" on Andrew to "gently" persaude him that a wek in July 2007 would be a REALLY good

idea  , will continue bending his arm up his back.

Dias Studios - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

Oooooh, Ooooooh, it worked, bent his arm far enough  . I've just booked another week at Dias from the 1st July 2007, look out Labros, we're back sooner than expected!!!

Daisy Apartments - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

First time at these apartments, but the third time in Kalamaki in the last 11 months!!! Nice to stay at the "old" end of the strip, gave us the chance to try different restaurants. Apartments clean enough, but a little in need of a refurb, in our opinion. Peter, Andrea and Dennis could not have been more helpful, and the bar and pool area were clean, tidy and inviting. I need to say that some guests showed little or no consideration for others, and behaviour when they had obviously imbibed of the old alcoholic beverages left a lot to be desired!!! Typical  "Brits on tour" behaviour. We had a fab two weeks, but most of that was down to the friends we had gone out to meet and the wedding we attended. I am sorry to say that we would not, out of choice, return to these apartments, as we feel that alternative accommodation within the resort is more to our taste.

Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

FAB as usual!!!! Thanks Labros and team for ALL the wonderful meals, yet again. It just gets better each visit. Don't forget to pay us a visit when you come over

Buon Amici - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

Visited on recommendation of friends, service was excellent, Pinot Grigio chilled to perfection and the pizzas were to die for, would definitely eat there again

Parthenon Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

Ate here for the first time after recommendation of friends. Pork chops grilled to perfection, and HUGE!!! Accompanied by a lovely salad and greek potatoes, gorgeous. Husband had steak, again very good. Would eat here again and have no problem recommending it ourselves

Paris - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (03 October 2006)

Our first time at this restaurant, and all we can say is, FAB!!! Location is lovely, at the "old" end of Kalamaki, nice and peaceful.Husband had steak and it was grilled to perfection, the lamb chops were tender and plentiful, in fact I nearly fell off the chair when I saw there were five on the plate!!!! Didn't think I'd eat them all, but guess I am greedy after all!!!! The price was an absolute bargain and the service excellent. We will definitely be back

Cave Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

Our first time at this bar, and for a wedding too!!! Stunning location, and a very attractive bar area. Lovely for a romantic evening watching the sunset. We will be trying it again next year

Cronulla Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

As usual the staff here make you feel SO welcome. Can recommend this bar with no problems, we love it. Internet access available too, reasonably priced. We will see you all next year

PnP - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (03 October 2006)

Popped in for a swift one on the way "home" one night. Great music, and the Strawberry Colada was gorgeous, couldn't manage more than a couple though, would have to go back on the Mythos!!!! Will go again next year

Acapulco Marinos Apts - (Accommodation in Laganas)

Lesley S

Didn't stay here but HAD to visit to see Marinos and Nancy, oh and not forgetting the reprobate Antonis ( how's the jewellry business going  ). Didn't get to see Dennis cos he was away at uni, our best wishes to you. Truely the nicest hosts you could ever meet, and a lovely pool area and bar. We will be back for a visit next year, and you never know, we might come to bbq night!!!

First Choice - (Tour Operators in Zante)

Lesley S  (03 October 2006)

Flight out fine, but had to wait AGES for the transfer bus to turn up at the airport, should have got a taxi!!!! Transfer rep a total nutter, nice one Ginge  Resort rep a pleasant girl, though due to so many previously arranged social engagements ( how posh does that sound? Social butterflies us  ) we didn't utilise her services. On return, as per usual Zante airport a NIGHTMARE, once again entertained by Ginge. Flight home was great the entertainment team, sorry cabin crew, kept us laughing all the way, thanks James and Ben, and Sam, don't know how you put up with them both all the way to Zante AND back!!!! Would recommend First Choice as an operator, organised,. professional and good fun too, well done

Merlis Car Hire - (Car Rental in Zante)

Lesley S

First time we have hired a car in Zakynthos, and thankfully we chose Merlis, having being recommended by others who use this site. Julie was most helpful, providing a list of places to visit and a map of the island (not that you could get lost for long, and why worry anyway, all roads lead home, eventually!!!). The car was clean, tidy and dropped off at our accommodation at the time arranged when we booked via the internet. The price was good and included full insurance cover. We would definitely use Merlis again.

Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlarge A few photos from Dias, including "the last supper"!!!!

Lesley S          10/10

Once again another FAB week at the Dias Howard and Linzi work hard in the bar, was great to meet them both and we look forward to our return visit in September

Labros and his parents as always the perfect hosts. These really are the VERY best apartments  in Kalamaki
Looking forward to the 16th September already, thanks to all of you who made our holiday so perfect yet again

Lighthouse - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (09 July 2007)        10/10

Our first visit to this restaurant, the food was FAB, and the company excellent Thank you Veronica and crew, we will definitely be paying you several visits in September.

Andrew LOVED his fillet steak, and my pork chop was perfect

Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Ate here three times this holiday, excellent as usual. The beef stifado was FAB, we both tried that. The Spaghetti Mexican and the Spaghetti Carbonara to die for. Labros arranged a "special" tomato saganaki for Andrew, perfect with pitta bread for dipping - yuuuuummmmmmy!!! We will continue to believe this is THE best restaurant in Kalamaki, see you again in September for more delicious food.

Paris - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (09 July 2007)        10/10

As usual an excellent meal. The Prawn Saganaki was delicious, and the beef stifado very tasty. The steak my husband had was cooked to perfection. We will be back in September for more fab food in lovely surroundings.

Buon Amici - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Once again a gorgeous meal. These pizzas really are the best I have eaten for a very long time, perfect with that bottle of chilled Pinot Grigio. See you again in September.

Venue - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          1/10

Maybe some people find him funny, but we thought the "entertainment" was extremely crude. We are not prudes by any stretch of the imagination (can't afford to be in my job, I'm a nurse), but in our opinion he went too far. Being hassled to choose a drink when we first entered was off putting too, I would actually like to peruse the menu first!!!! I can honestly say it's not "our bag" and we most definitley won't be returning, sorry.

Cronulla Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Friendly staff, good prices and a nice atmosphere, excellent. See you all again in September.

Plus Soda - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (09 July 2007)        6/10

Popped in for one drink, too many kids in there so left early, will pop back in September, maybe they'll all be back in school then, like they should have last week

Mojo - (Bars in Alykanas)

Lesley S          10/10

What a FAB bar, good prices and good choice of drinks. Spent a wonderful evening there in July. Lovely to see Paula looking so well and happy, and great to meet Antonis and Dimitri,  look forward to seeing you again in September

Dias Studios - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Yipeeeeeee!!!!! Just booked for next year at THE best apartments in Kalamaki

We'll be back for two weeks on the 15th June

Lighthouse - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (01 October 2007)        10/10

What fab food we had here

Andrew LOVED his fillet steak, the steak and onion pie was gorgeous, and as for the fish and chips, fandabidozy
The Sunday roast was to die for, sooooooo much better than my home cooked one, thanks Veronica and Derek
Look forward to seeing you both next year for more delicious home cooked food, and delightful company

Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Yummy food, great atmosphere and brilliant staff

The pan fried sole in sauce was delicious, the tomato saganaki ( made as a special request) and pitta bread was to die for, Andrews "special" Spaghetti Mexican was fab, and the Spaghetti Carbonara up to it's usual brilliant quality. Starters of battered onion rings and jalapenos, again on "special" request was fab, and Labros you definitely NEED to put your new starter on next years menu, it is gorgeous
Can't wait to see you all again next June, thanks and hugs to you all

Dias Studios - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Just spent another FAB holiday at Dias, without a doubt the best acommodation in Kalamaki!!!!!

Labros and his parents are wonderful hosts, and Linzi and Howard work hard in the pool bar to ensure everyone has a good time.
The room, as usual was spotless, and the cleaners come in daily to tidy up. We requested room 406, and were given it, the views from the top floor are ace.
Can't wait till next June to return, it just seems so long off
Have a good winter, and see you all next year

Buon Amici - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Another good meal here, with that perfectly chilled Pinot Grigio, wonderful

See you next year

Hera Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Well, we were told that Hera did the best Lamb Kleftico in Kalamaki, was that true? Oh yes, absolutely gorgeous

The husbands fillet steak was pretty damn good too
We will be back next year, thank you

Hermes Car Rental - (Other Things in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Hired from Hermes for the first time this year (we used another rental company last year, but they had no availabilty this time) and the service was excellent. Enjoyed three days pottering round the island (long enough to see most of the "important" sites!!!) and the price was fair and the car in good condition. We would use this company again

Keri Lighthouse - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Lesley S          10/10

Well you can't do Zante without a visit to the Lighthouse!!!! Stunning views, a lovely place to chill for a while and have a cold drink, wish the waiter would smile though

Will look forwards to a visit next year

Shipwreck Viewing Platform - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Lesley S          8/10

This being our 5th visit to Zakynthos we thought it about time to see what all the fuss was about!!!! There was a fairly long queue to get on the platform, but once there the views from the platform are stunning .But "shipwreck", nah, "bit of rust on the beach" was my husbands comment The surrounding area is gorgeous, so it is worth a trip to see it if you're in the area. Just make sure you're not there as they disembark two coach loads of people!!!!

Manthos - (Restaurants in Agios Sostis)

Lesley S  (05 October 2007)        10/10

Spent two lovely relaxing lunchtimes here last month, the first one just the two of us, the second accompanied by a large group of friends. This really is a fab place to chill out and enjoy a cold glass of wine/Mythos and watch the world pass you by. The food was tasty and good value, we will be back for more of the same next year

Gastronomy - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (12 October 2007)        10/10

Only ate here once, VERY late one night (thanks Kev for organising it!!!!). The decor is stunning, the food sublime and the staff sooooo helpful. We will definitely be back, at an earlier time lol, next June to eat here again. The fillet steak (according to "the husband") was absolutely fantastic, and my stuffed pitta, whilst being HUGE, was extremely tasty. The bread and dips were FAB too

Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Sarah and Gill, are you sure you were in Dias? We have been to Zante 5 times in the last two years, and not only do we eat regularly in Dias, we have stayed there three times too. We have NEVER been met with less than exemplorary service, friendly attitudes and a feeling of being "special" when eating here. We have requested "specials" not even on the menu, and had them cooked and served with a smile. We have NEVER felt rushed at Dias, whereas we were crammed into a table, ignored and eventually served with sub-standard food at your favourite restaurant!!!! My suggestion is, you eat at the restaurant that you find so good, and we'll stick to Dias, THE best restaurant, in our opinion, in Kalamaki

Oceanic - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

FAB, spent many a good evening at Oceanic. Lovely and chilled out, decent music and a fantastic host Kev really deserves to do well with his bar, nothing is too much trouble, and watching him run to the supermarket for tonic/sambuca is a joy to behold   Look forward to a few good nights in June, get that gin/vodka/tonic lined up

Dias Studios - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Home again from yet another fantastic time at Dias. Labros, Joanna and Argiris work so hard to maintain these wonderful studios in tip top condition, not forgetting Victoria who cleaned our room to perfection

The pool bar is a lovely place to have a drink, or breakfast and Howard and Linzi work like demons to ensure everyone enjoys themselves, thanks maties, gonna miss you both in September, but rest assured we will be visiting
Just waiting now to book AGAIN for September 2009, despite us saying we weren't gonna come to Kalamaki next year

Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Well what can we say? FABULOUS,FANTASTIC, BRILLIANT, as always!! The service was impeccable, food arrived hot, tasty and well presented, you can't beat the staff at Dias. Thank you for the four wonderful meals we had this time. This is definitely still the best restaurant in Kalamaki (in our opinion )

The mixed platter of Mousaka, pitta, stuffed tomatoes, stuffed aubergine, village sausage and meatballs was great, just could NOT eat it all!!! And as for the kebabs - yummmmmmy, roll on September when we'll be back for more

Buon Amici - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Fab, as usual. The pizzas are gorgeous and the pasta dishes fantastic, again made even better with a nice chilled bottle of Pinot Grigio. Ate here three times this holiday, and every time the quality, service and price was great. We will be back in September for more wonderful food and excellent hospitality

Lighthouse - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (30 June 2008)        10/10

Thanks Veronica and Derek for more of your fantastic food, especially that brilliant Sunday roast, it was to die for!!! The pudding you "forced" on us was gorgeeeeeeoooouuuus too, if we've put on weight we'll know why!!!! Will be back in September, for more yummy naughties

Zepos Taverna - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

OMG!!!!!!!! What can we say? Ate here twice, for the first time since starting going to Zakynthos in 2005, what have we missed Fantastic location, friendly staff, and impeccable service. The Feta Bruschetta was sooooo yummy, and the Bekhri Meze (pork in spicy sauce, with village sausage and cheese on top, baked in the oven) was beyond description - HEAVEN in a dish!!!! The Beef stifado was enjoyed by my husband, but the best dish he had was the fillet steak, perfection, served with chips and his requested fried onions. The staff here really do go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your meal, we will be back in September for more

Gastronomy - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (30 June 2008)        9/10

Enjoyed a meal here with friends, following a couple of drinks on the terrace of the Strada Marina hotel in Zante Town, which made for a lovely evening. The food was very good, the service excellent and the surroundings very impressive. This is not your "usual" Greek restaurant, it is however PERFECT for a treat or a special occasion, the sort of restaurant that Kalamaki has needed for a while. We would highly recommend a visit, but it is more expensive than the other restaurants in the area, and the menu more diverse than most Greek taverna type establishments. We would go again, but probably not this September as we are only in Kalamaki for a week.

Hera Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

FAB, as usual, the Lamb Kleftico the best ever!!!! Having moved to the "old strip" the surroundings are better than previously, it's lovely to see the quality of the food, the fantastic service and the value for money have remained the same. Thank you all and see you all in September

Castello - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (30 June 2008)        5/10

Got persauded to eat here as they have the "only real wood oven in Kalamaki". Went only the once, the baked tagliatelli was mediocre, and my husband wasn't keen on his pizza, as previously mentioned, there are far better pizzas to be had in the vicinity We ate upstairs, where it is quite noisy due to the thumping music from the Fire Club downstairs, ah well, can't say we didn't try, but we are pretty sure we won't go again, sorry

Oasis Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Oooooh, how did we miss this lovely bar? Cocktails were very good and the location, atmosphere and service were great. We will be back in September, glad we "found" it

Oceanic - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Another few evenings spent here, a lovely place for pre or post dinner drinkies, thanks Kev. Not just sprinting from the bar now though eh Kev? Disapppearing on his bike now a speciallity of the night  Will see you in September, may your success continue, oh and your "meals on wheels" deliveries

Cronulla Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

A good few evenings in here for pre-dinner drinks, lovely people, great service and good prices, see you all in September

Oceanic - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

OMG, how RUDE

I can assure you that neither my husband or myself are OAP's, and even if we were I would find your comment offensive  (BTW how old are you ? )
Maybe you didn't pop in cos there wasn't room, that's usually the case at the most popular bar in Kalamaki
Look forward to more nights in Oceanic in September, but then again, us OAP's have the time to holiday more than once a year

Buon Amici - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Lost count of the number of times we ate at Buon Amici during our two weeks in Kalamaki

Absolutely fantastic each and every time!!! The pizzas are the very best EVER, the pasta dishes are wonderful, and I tried veal in Roquefort, fantabulous!!!!! I also had the asparagus starter a couple of times, OMG, soooooooooooo delicious. The staff are always friendly, welcoming and the service is first class. Thank you Nicos, Liza, your gorgeous daughters, and all your great staff, we will see you again next June for more scrummy food

Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Ate here LOADS of times during our visit to Kalamaki in September, absolutely first class as usual. The mixed Greek platter is GORGEOUS, and sooooooooooooo filling. The Chicken Dias as usual one of my favourites, and Andrew enjoyed his steak and the spaghetti Mexican - FAB!!! The service, staff, ambiance and quality of this restaurant are second to none, our VERY favourite place to eat, we will be back next June, thank you Labros

Stani - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          9/10

A first for us this year!!! The lunch was really great, and such good value, and the meal we had to celebrate with friends on their anniversary was wonderful. We will be back next June

Hera Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Lovely meal again at Hera, just a shame we didn't manage to get back another night, we will be back next June though, can't miss out on the best Lamb Kleftico in Kalamaki

Lighthouse - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (06 October 2008)        10/10

Wooooooooooohooooooooooooo, THE best breakfast in Kalamaki!!!! Wonderful service and fab to see Veronica and Derek and their great staff Edi and Durim. As for the Sunday roast, words cannot describe how fantastic it was, we will be back next June for more great company and fab food

Gastronomy - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S  (06 October 2008)        9/10

Once again another fab meal in lovely surroundings, thanks Kev for once again organising a night here!!! Just glad it wasn't at midnight again!!! The cheese pies drizzled with honey were gorgeous, and the stuffed pitta very tasty, but OMG, how big was it?!!!!!!!!!! Andrews steak was fab, all in all a great night out, we will be back next June

Dias Studios - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

We stayed at Dias despite the demise of Kosmar/XL, so BIG thanks to Labros for letting us have a room at the VERY best accomodation in Kalamaki, our "home from home". The rooms as usual are spotless, the pool area fantastic for that chill factor, and Howard and Linzi are still great hosts, despite the hardship that Kosmar have caused them ,and probably many other accomodations/bars/restaurants in the area. I see that Dias are going private next year, can I say it is a perfect location and the welcome is second to none, so go on, don't dither, get it booked, you won't regret it I promise!!!! We are coming back next June Labros, hope you've got a room for us

Venus Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          8/10

Our first time at The Venus, and Nick was most helpful and welcoming. The room was kept spotless as were all areas of the hotel. The snacks from the pool bar were reasonably priced, and there is a huge choice, which is handy if you can't be bothered to go out for breakfast (well lunch in our case, not known to be early risers!!!). We only "did" the breakfast that is provided twice, a good choice, but as I said, we prefer the extra hour in bed!!! The cocktails in the evening are fab, just beware, they are VERY strong!!! I found the pool area a little crowded, and noisy at times, not really "us", as I like to lie peacefully and read, not a problem though, we just nipped up to Dias and used their pool.. Whilst we found the Venus to be a very nice hotel, we prefer the self catering choice we have used for the previous 6 visits to Kalamaki, and I doubt if we'll do a hotel again, not just the Venus, but any hotel

Merlis Car Hire - (Car Rental in Zante)

Lesley S          10/10

Hired a car from Julie for our full two weeks. As arranged the car was awaiting our arrival at the airport, a Hyundai Matrix. Good sized car, and handy when peeps were needing a lift, but think we'll probably hire a smaller car next year. Service was, as usual excellent, even when Andrew noticed the brakes making a noise, nipped it back to Julie and within the hour it had been fitted with new brake pads, how's that for service? Quick Fit, eat your hearts out!!!!! Drove all over the island this time, fab, but will still hire a car next year for the whole duration I think, thanks Julie, see you next June

Buca Lounge Bar - (Bars in Alykes)

Lesley S          10/10

Popped over to Alykes one day for lunch. Had heard about Buca on the JZ forum, so gave it a go. Lovely beachside position, and a chilled atmosphere made for a relaxing hour or so in the sun. The food was fab, I had the Caesar salad with chicken, it was extremely well presented and very tasty, Andrew had a HUGE cheese baguette, again the presentation was excellent., the meal was served with a smile, the price was good and the location perfect. we recommend Buca for a peaceful lunchtime break

Oceanic - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Another great holiday in Zakynthos, and several great evenings in Oceanic. The cocktails are fab, never had a better "Orgasm", thanks Kev

As usual, Andrews G+T's hit the spot, so much so that the post drinking snores could probably be heard at the airport, over the sound of the jet engines
A lovely place to chill, pre or post dinner, we will be back 3 times next year for more relaxation on one of those sofas. Have a good winter Kev

Cronulla Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

As usual a wonderful bar for that pre or post dinner drink or three

We will be back next year, have a restful winter all of you

Windmill Hotel - (Accommodation in Argassi)

Lesley S          10/10

Just got back from a week at Windmill Studios, seven of us, three of whom had never been to Zante, two who had stayed in Argassi before, and the two of us, our eighth visit to Zante but our first stay in Argassi. The studios are situated on the way out of Argassi, lovely and quiet. The grounds are very well kept, and the pool area is fab. Rooms are a reasonable size, and kept spotless. Wonderful shower, with a curtain too!!!! The pool bar does a great selection of food from 8am till late, so if you can't be bothered to walk into Argassi you can eat very well within the complex. I had the "childrens" breakfast a few mornings, MORE than enough for me, mmmmmmm!!! And only 2.50 euros too!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at these lovely apartments, and would not hesitate to recommend them, we would happily stay there again. Thank you to all the friendly, hard working staff for making our holiday so enjoyable

Premier - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Lesley S  (25 May 2009)        4/10

Having read the reviews on here we decided to eat here after a very enjoyable evening playing crazy golf. I am sorry to say we were quite disappointed in the food, average really, apart from one of our party having a mushroom pizza that was, to be honest, inedible. He did tell the staff, but was not offered an alternative dish, neither was he offered a discount!!! The staff can't be faulted for their friendly service, but to be honest we expect friendly service AND edible food

Jungle Bar - (Bars in Argassi)

Lesley S          9/10

Dias Studios - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

We stayed in Kalamaki in October a few years ago, most thing were still open, but some of the supermarkets were short on a few items. Quite a lot of end of season offers too, on drinks, meals and trips. You will probably need a fleece and long trousers for the evenings, but the day time weather when we were there was great. We're at Dias from the 18th October for a week, it will be our 8th visit there, it really is FAB. We're there from the 14th June for two weeks too, and from the 20th september for a week, guess you can say we like it there See you soon Labros, 12 days and counting

Buon Amici - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

World Tour Mini Golf - (Things To Do in Zante)

Lesley S          10/10

Spent an evening here in May, what great fun it was!!! Seven of us, it took us 2 hours to get round, so value for money it certainly was. The bar after is lovely, and very good value. Highly recommended, but remember it's crazy golf, and don't go chipping the ball out of the complex, like my husband did lol!!!! Had a good laugh at him climbing over the railings to retrieve the ball!!!!

Premier - (Restaurants in Argassi)

Lesley S  (09 June 2009)        4/10

As per the previous comment, we also tried a variety of food, there were 9 of us in our party and no-one ordered the same!!! If this is one of the best in Argassi, in my opinion, I'm glad we ate in Kalamaki three times and Zante Town twice We are going back to Argassi next year for a week, but we most definitely won't be eating at Premier, we have it on good authority that Peppermint is THE place to eat, so we'll have to wait and see

Zepos Taverna - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Lesley S          10/10

Only ate here once this holiday, the complimentary bread, dips and olives were delicious, a very nice touch. I had the bekhri meze with salad, excellent as usual, Andrew had the rib steak, chips and requested fried onions which completed his meal perfectly. He was a little disappointed to find that fillet steak is no longer on the menu, a particular favourite of his, and so delicious last year, ah well, some things change. The free half litre of white was most acceptable, and we enjoyed the evening very much

Zante Town - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Lesley S          10/10

A trip into Zante Town at night is not to be missed. First a drink up on the roof terrace of the Strada Marina Hotel, wow, the views are FAB, and a lovely breeze as you sip your pre dinner drinks. Follow this with a meal at Spartakos, mmmmmmmm that moussaka is GORGEOUS, and the fillet steak is perfection, oh and don't forget the mixed meze starter for two to start off with. Wonderful food, great staff and sit and watch the world go by, perfect

In fact I tried a new dish each night we ate there this time!!! The penne pasta with chicken livers was to die for, and the lasagne was fantabulous. Did have the "old faithful" tomato pomodorro foccacia as a starter once though, can't miss that one out. Oh, and must not forget the asparagus starter too, mmmmmmmmm. Great to see Liza, Nicos, Joyce, Deanne, Jane and the rest of the crew, sorry not to have seen Ralph though, next year for sure I guess?

This is going too far, this is a site for recommending restaurants and giving honest opinions about their food and service. It is NOT the place to make libelous and obnoxious statements, there are other channels to deal with any issues you have. By commenting here you are not only damaging a families business, but damaging the reputation of the whole resort/island!!!!
