Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Philip H          9/10

We only ate at Dias once on the suggestion of our holiday rep who promised the authentic Greek food that we wanted, we were not disappointed in the least.

I think many people will not get to the taverna as it is 50m down a side road off the main track in Kalamaki which is a shame for those who are guided there.

Food is excellent especially the fish and the surroundings are wonderful.

Might be slightly more pricey than some others but it is well worth it.

Hera Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Philip H          9/10

Wonderful taverna with excellent staff, and equally excellent food.

Taverna is virtually the last in Kalamaki heading for Laganas but even if like us it means a long walk it is well worth the effort.

Especially useful point is that the place is open for lunch (not many in Kalamaki are)

Milos - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Philip H          10/10

On all fronts this is the most excellent taverna in Kalamaki, Yannis and his staff are the friendliest people I met during our stay in Kalamaki. That is saying something special as everyone in Kalamaki is wonderful and extremely friendly. The food is truly authentic Greek cooking but it also offers more basic alternatives for the unadventurous.

Free drinks were given virtually all the time, so make the effort to speak a little Greek which will be much appreciated and probably rewarded.

Try the Lamb Chops (but eat them with your fingers),Lamb Kleftico is very good and very filling,
Swordfish is fresh and very tasty as well but that is pretty much true of the entire menu.

Local Wine by the carafe is great so don't think you have to buy a bottle to get a decent drink.

Yannis will be a friend for ever - say Hi to him from me  20 out of 10

Sofias Pool Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Philip H          9/10

Have just spent a week staying at Sofias, when we arrived I was quite worried as the place seemed a bit lively, but the rooms are excellent and very quiet due to the careful design of the site. Cleaned SIX days ot of seven (I bet not many people have seen that in Greece).

All the staff are very friendly and it truly is a Family business with Nick (strange Australian / Greek / Irish / North England mixed accent) running the main Bar and accomodation and his two sisters and Mother running the Supermarket. Nick is very particular about the place and everything is meticulously cleaned and kept tidy. I do agree that its a bit strange about not allowing you to buy from the Supermarket and eat/drink by the Pool, but it does keep the place neat and clean.

Ten satelite TV's makes watching the football and interesting experience, we had England, Scotland, Italy, Greece etc all showing at once in various parts of the Bar.

Food is good if you want English cooking or use MILO's just over the road for Greek food which is excellent.

Bar also has the ugliest but sweetest Dog you have ever seen so say Hi to Lola

Water Village - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Philip H          9/10

What an excellent day out for only 66 Euro's through First Choice, less if you have a car of your own.

The rides are really thrilling and the place is carefully controlled but a large team of Fully qualified Life Guards.

Food is rubbish but never mind its only for a day!
