Day trip to Kefalonia - (Zante Excursions)

Mel B          4/10

 !!!!

We went on the daytrip to Kefalonia with Thomas Cook which we booked through our rep. A little more expensive than if you book in one of the agent's on the streets. Which we hoped would be worth it.. but was disappointed.
We sailed from Zante Town and was on the ferry for about an hour and 45minuites to the cross over to Kefalonia where we arrived in a little Harbour town called Poros. A coach was waiting for us, where it took us to Drograti Caves which is 95metres down- those with difficulty with steps should give it a miss and look around the shop and grab an ice cream or a drink as we were only here for 20minuites before heading back on the coach. The next stop was Melisani Lakes which is beautiful. The boeat ride is great with the rowers quite happy to take photographs for you. Booking with Thomas cook meant that we were able to get special passes which enabled us to go straight in without queing. I would like to point out this does cost an extra 8euros per person, when you have actually paid enough already and would expect it to be included in the trip!
We then get back on the coach for a short time and stopped off in the little town of Agic Efmic where the loacal speciality is beef pie- which i did get told was rather tasty. i didnt try it myself though.Prices were cheap, but didnt think much to the service, as they were slow and no sooner had you eaten it was time to get back on the coach yet again so had little time to discover anything else in the town. Dont think the staff were bothered about impressing the tourists. From here it is a long coach journey to Argostolli (the capital). We did stop off at Myrtos beach which gives you a fantastic view of the scenery and is a photo oppurtunity. Once we arrived at Argostolli, it was siest time and most places were closed, so nothing todo. it was boring!! By now i was feeling travel sick!! It felt like you was on and off the coach all day!! Wouldnt recommend really! although in a way at least i can say i have been! Its up 2 u!!
