Basils Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Finbarr   (05 October 2004)

Basil's bar was the highlight of our holiday. We had some memorable nights and other great ones that I can't remember at all. Basil and "the Dragon" were extremely friendly and on our last night they had made up goodie bags for the kids to have on the journey home. There were grat kiddies videos and the free pool table kept the kids busy, and Basil's never too busy to have a chat with you.

Calypso Restaurant - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Finbarr

Very good food and friendly service. We went there about eight nights out of fourteen and only night did I not enjoy the meal, but they refused to accept payment when they saw I hadn't eaten it.

Sandras Bar - (Bars in Tsilivi)

Finbarr

Sandra and Kostas are good fun but while they love to see you come in, they will almost beg you to stay for the rest of the night. Then again, you could do worse.

Water Village - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Finbarr

Visit after 2.30pm to get reduced price entry. But the prices in the snack bar were crazy. 24 euro for five soft drinks and five bags of crisps. Bring your own food and drink.

Filoxenia Aparthotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

Finbarr

Very relaxing place to stay with plenty of sunbeds. The snack bar is a little pricey for drinks but we bought ours in the shop and just drank them by the pool.
The bar is o.k. but also about a euro dearer per drink than any of the bars in town and it has entertainment only once a week.
The 2 bedroom apartments are just that - 2 bedrooms , no sitting room and just a small kitchen and bathroom.
I thought the price of a safe for 2 weeks (30 euros) was a bit of a rip off.

Tsilivi Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Finbarr

It was our first time in Tsilivi in June 2004 and we have already booked for 2005. The village itself is lovely and there are bars and restaurents to suit all tastes.

Mikalis - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Finbarr   (05 October 2004)

We went there twice and it was only because the specials sounded so nice but both times it was a disappointment. The desserts were overpriced if you have three kids to feed and they only sold small bottles of water so you'd have to buy a few instead of one big one.

Popeyes - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Finbarr

I don't think this place is as good as people make it out to be.
The food is o.k. but we waited a long time for it and because it's so popular it was a bit cramped with tables very close together.
Also the staff seemed to be overfriendly as if they're afraid not to smile at you.

Trenta Nove - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Finbarr

I had a burger which was raw. My wife had chops which were raw. My daughter had a pizza which was a 2 inch thick lump of cold dough with hard cheese on top. No kids menu for the small kids. 10 minutes to attract a waiters attention. About 15 minutes after that to get a menu. Then roughly half an hour to get the "food". About 20 minutes trying to get the bill. In the end I went up to the counter to pay and worst of all, I left a tip out of habit. NEVER AGAIN!

June - (Best Time to Visit)

Finbarr

Middle two weeks of June 2004 was fantastic. Hot, no rain and just the right amount of people around without being too crowded.
Roll on next year!

Filoxenia Aparthotel - (Accommodation in Tsilivi)

To Patsy Foley:

I stayed in Filoxenia twice and I never heard of one bedroom apartments, just studios and two bedroom apartments. As far as I know all the apartments are pool view.
The separate block away from the bar area is much quieter at night as the music in the bar can go on fairly late.
Hiring a car for a few days is a great way to see the island and as it's a small island you can see nearly all the sights in a short time. The boat trip to Smuggler's Cove is really nice in one of the smaller boats that go from the north of the island.( I think the port is called Saint Nicholas).
The village of Tsilivi is lovely with lots of nice restaurants and bars. You can see my other posts to see which ones I liked. Enjoy your holiday.
