just got back from a week at the contessina....

wow! what a great hotel. i've learnt to have low expectations of greek hotels, but this place is perfect. the hotel is sparkling, the staff are so friendly, the food and drinks are wonderful and the pool is gorgeous.

special "ef'haresto" to nikos on reception, iliaz (my greek teacher) and niko on the bar and the lovely melly who floats around.

it's two minutes from the beach, two minutes from the 2 supermarkets, two minutes from the main bars and restaurants.

word of advice though - the rooms are a bit spa**e and you can "hire" a fridge/freezer for 6 euros a day and air conditioning for the same price.

thanks guys

Giorgios Restaurant - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

Ate here twice - had the Cajun chicken and the Fillet steak. Both times the food was excellent and the staff were really good to us.

It gets incredibly busy around 9pm so get there early. We went at 7pm and were the only people there for half hour!!

Asian Feast - (Restaurants in Tsilivi)

click to enlarge Had a cracking meal here - they do a set menu of 2 main courses (We had chicken chow mein and sweet and sour, but they were pretty flexible), rice, prawn crackers and spring rolls for a total of 22 euros.

Service was prompt and friendly, and the decor was tasteful.

We also ate across the road at the Asian Palace, but preferred this one.

Yiannis is the master, Marios is the disaster!

Best bar in Greece? Well probably the best in Tsilivi. The energy and comedy of the staff keeps the evening buzzing, the drinks are dangerously smooth (try the Aries - gin, amaretto, blue curacao and sprite - it tastes like blue marzipan).

A couple of excellent nights and a few wobbly walks home!
