Been to Kalamaki 6 years running this restuarant is the best!!! treated like family when you go into this restaurant. Good price and generous portions and the food is always piping hot, nothing is too much trouble for Spiro and his staff and service is fast although the staff do not rush you (you eat greek style!!!)See you all 20th September, reserve us a table!!!! Been to these apartments 6 years running and they are excellent. Always cleaned everyday and the owners Athena and her husband(Mr Pete!!)are always friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. These apartments are geared towards couples, families, and are very quiet and near all amenities. You really are treated like family. See you all 20th September(Don't forget Dad's extra pillows!!!) Good quiet, clean hotel although sometimes too quiet (I think their was a undertakers convention the week I was there!!!)good entertainment planned but sadly this mostly fails to materialise.Good hotel for couples.

Kalamaki Resort - (Resorts in Zante)

Robert G

Been to Kalamaki 6 years on the trot, but noticed this year more than ever that Kalamaki is not the quiet resort it used to be (thanks to the brain dead morons shouting and screaming at 4 in the morning after a couple of beers). This resort will soon become part of Laganas due to extensive building. Everything a lot dearer due to businesses rounding up the Euro. Such a shame!

Good restaurant with great food and good price although can lack atmosphere and the management can blow hot & cold but on the whole good all round restaurant.

Kalamaki could do with Cashpoints! Otherwise it's jump in a taxi to Laganas or Zante town (although the ones in Laganas aren't that reliable.

Taxis are reliable and run to all hours! There are a couple of ranks in Laganas, or if you see a taxi flag him down and if he is empty he will stop. ALWAYS agree the price for your journey(s)with the driver before you get in the cab
Regards!

There are no kind of (night)clubs as such in Kalamaki, Laganas is a good place for clubs though. In Kalamaki there is a bar called "Down Under Bar" this can be brilliant for an evening out it is run by aussies and has live entertainment and can get "insane" some evenings!!! Laganas to Kalamaki is about 30 mins "approx" but walking along the beach from Kalamaki to Laganas (during the day) is a nice experience as you pass the Turtle hatching sanctuary on the way. Reliability is as per my previous posting.
Have fun & Regards!!

Athina Apartments - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

The G

Alison,
We have been to the Athina Apartments for the last 7 years.Underneath the 4 bed apartments are 2 restuarants and a gift shop and are quiet and do not cause much inconvience although you may get noise from the main road at the front of the apartments. There are also some 4 bed apartments underneath the restuarants(not recommended!!)The 3 bed studio apartments are slightly further back and do not cause much inconvience noise wise etc.. The restuarant Tesoro under the Athina 4 bed apartments I would recommend for value for money and I have never come out of there hungry!! and is always clean and the food hot.The other restuarant is the Guru Indian restuarant and although quiet, the food is the pits! The gift shop is good, but shop around!
The beach is approxiametly 800 metres from the beach (10mins walk) and is worth the walk. Please feel free to E-mail me if you need further info Grobert@aol.com.
Regards!

Went to Mermaids on first night of Holiday, and that will be the last time! long wait, food overcooked, no room to move and was full of screaming kids, if you are a couple and want a quiet meal, AVOID!
Tesoro,Stanis or Parthenon were excellent :)

Athina Apartments - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

The G

Going back to the Athina Apartments on 24th May 2004 (for the ninth time!) and can not wait, if you want genuine Greek hospitality and the real "Spirit Of Greece" then this is the place for you! Athina, Pete and their staff are very obliging and nothing is to much trouble for them, this all adds to a relaxing, enjoyable holiday. The apartments are spotless and are cleaned every day. Close to a wide range of shops, supermarkets, tavernas (and bars, but not too close!)

15 of us are going over this time (three generations of the family)Grandparents,Children, and Grandchildren, so if you want family accommodation then I think it really speaks for itself! But don't just take our word for it, take a look in the Portland Direct brochure and get booked up (while you still can!!!)
We write this message because we like to tell it as it is!

Kind regards all!

Tesoro - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

The G  (16 May 2004)

Going back to Kalamaki (for the ninth time)24th May, and always look forward to eating here. Spiros and Kiki are always genuinely welcoming and their menu is very varied and international as well as Greek(so there is something for everyone!)

The food is always piping hot and we have never come out of here hungry. The restaurant and kitchens are spotless. We have always found their prices very agreeable and have never been ripped-off.
There is a varied childens menu and high-chairs are provided.
We have no complaints (and always tell it as it is!)

Kind regards all!

Rebecca,

There is plenty to do in Kalamaki for 19 and 24 year olds, bars, clubs etc too suit all tastes

When the Athina Apartments are quoted as "basic", what this means is there isn't any mod cons like a Microwave, Satellite T.V etc..... but then again,  if you are on holiday, you won't have a use for these things anyway! The Athina is comfortably basic.

The Hotels and Apartments in Kalamaki, don't mind you using any of the pools, but I usually buy a drink or something from the pool bar of the pool I am using.

Kind Regards.

Robbie G  (07 June 2007)        10/10

Had dinner here quite a few times last year on Hols and will definately do so again this year, food always freshly cooked and well worth the wait makes a nice change from the "samey" Greek menus (with chips and rice) price very reasonable also, would highly recommend.
