Zakynthos Airport - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Debs J

I recently arrived at Zante airport & stupidly left a toy dog that I had owned for 22 years on the plane. I immediately returned to the airport (within half an hour of arriving) where a travel rep advised me to go to arrivals lost & found. Here a greek lady just shrugged & insisted that she couldn't do anything about it. She took no details from me & was extremely unhelpful. After two days I went back to see if he had been handed in and was told by a more helpful greek man that all of my details should have been taken on the day & that the lady on duty could have radioed through to ask whether anything had been found on the plane. He said it was now too late and that anything that was found would have been thrown away by local plane cleaners. Thomas Cook who I flew with have assured me that anything found on the planes are always sent back to the originating airport to be held in lost property but as he has not turned up there yet I can only assume that items found on planes arriving at Zante airport are thrown! ... so if you happen to leave anything of importance on the plane, insist that the plane be checked while it is still in the airport!!

Panorama Cafe - (Restaurants in Zante Town)

After visiting the 'Best View of the Island' four years running we were extremely disappointed to find that this year you could not enter the bar/ restaurant/ view without first ordering drinks! No menu/ prices were displayed & the waiter, pleasant that he was, insisted we order something on the door step! Minimum drinks price (including water) was 3.95 euro, though after speaking with some Greek friends, apparently these are tourist prices & the price for fluent Greek speakers is 1.50!! (Water).

Staff were friendly & helpful, view is lovely, but comparable, if not less favourable than that of nearby Bohali where there are many cheaper places to eat/ drink & where prices are displayed on the menus.
