Hi Richie & Stacey. Thanks for the great time we had in Plus Soda from all in the Devon Quiz Team. I bet you were glad to see the back of us after our success in the quizes. We won soooooo many cocktails we almost drowned. Why did we sit at the back?? That's where the tray of free shots was located!!!! Thanks again from Brian, Tina & the kids.

Check out the guy in the picture - he's a scream! Ask him any subject and he has an opinion on it! The food is great to - especially the roast lamb. Feel free to speak to the chef - he will tell you how to do it. Great place, give it a go

Blue Caves and Shipwreck Cruise - (Zante Excursions)

Brain &

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge We went for the full island tour on "Top Cruiser", booked through one of the agents along Kalamaki strip (25e compared with Thomas Cooks 38e). Three decks - top two crowded, plenty of room on lower deck - has snack bar. It was a long day (9am - 5pm), but the sea was flat calm and weather perfect. Good commentry onboard. Worth it for visit to shipwreck alone - awesome. Had good snorkelling session near Keri Caves which was a tremendous experience. If you feel you cannot stomach the full day, go for the half day cruise - well worth it.

Water Village - (Places to Visit in Zante)

Brain &

click to enlarge click to enlarge Plenty of rides to go on - lazy river great for those who hate the large slides. Washbowl had the kids going over & over again. Day was not long enough. Was a bit crowded, try change-over days, Thursday or Sunday. Snack bar was well run & very efficient.

Cave Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Brain &

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge Wonderful location, make the effort to visit this bar (take the mini moke on the side road by the Mustang Bar - to get back, stand in front of the light at the bar entrance & the moke will pick you up). Magic sunset & very atmospheric. Ideal chill out spot with music to match.

Down Under - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Brain &  (16 September 2006)

click to enlarge click to enlarge Great entertainment & music - good atmosphere. Waitresses & bar staff must have taken a course in how to be completely mad - great stuff. Your bar lighting certainly takes a hammering!!!!!

Drunk Corner - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Brain &

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge One of our favourite watering holes. Great for watching sport - only place I've seen with a TV in the loo so you never missed any of the action(!). Very comfy seats & great staff, made us feel very welcome. How many footy shirts are on the ceiling? My partner's only criticism was every time she wanted a sex on the bar the staff  were too busy and gave her a cocktail instead!!!!

Iguana Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

Brain &

click to enlarge If you want to get away from the hustle & bustle of the strip - head for Iguana.  Large comfy seats to sink into, great views of the countryside & plenty screens to watch the footy - and pinball for the kids. Thanks to all staff.

Zepos Taverna - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Brain &

click to enlarge click to enlargeGreat spot, found by accident as we wandered to back lanes. Staff very friendly, even offered us their cook - after the end of the season. The best moussaka we had.

Zakanthi - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Brain &

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge Certainly mixed views on this restaurant. We saved this till last and weren't disappointed. Good service, great food & lovely setting (very atmospheric at night). The only downside was the price of the wine - so we didn't have any! Thoroughly enjoyed it.  Two lovely resident cats.

Kalamaki Beach Taverna - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Brain &

click to enlarge click to enlargeIdeal spot to chill out after a stressy day of sunbathing on the beach. Helpful, friendly staff. Could not fault it.

Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Brain &  (20 September 2006)

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge Good old Mermaids. One of our favourite eating places. Food and service very good. Friendly staff. We tended to get there early - usually full by 8:30pm. Huge menu and plates to match. Thanks everyone

Olive Tree Restaurant - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Brain &

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge This just shaded it as our favourite restaurant. The menu is varied and extensive, price is reasonable, staff friendly and efficient, good atmosphere and never overcrowded. Make sure you visit - you will not be disappointed.

Kalamaki Beach - (Beaches in Zante)

Brain &

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge This is a lovely beach. We headed for a spot about 100m towards Laganas from the Kalamaki Beach Tavern - no crowds, but you'll probably need an umbrella! You need to sit as close to the sea as possible as the turtle wardens ask you to move if you sit too far back (turtle nests are marked by metal tripods). Sea is warm with amazing underwater visibility (don't forget your snorkle or goggles). There are some large mullet about 200m offshore (only chest deep). If you want to see fish inshore, take some bread - they will soon appear. Tavern is a good place for a beer or milkshake at the end of the day.

Star (Caretta) Hotel - (Accommodation in Kalamaki)

Brian A

click to enlargeclick to enlargeclick to enlargeWe stayed a fortnight from 24/8/06 to 7/9/06 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel is only 2 years old and is in an ideal location - 5 mins from the strip, 10 mins from the beach so is reasonably quiet. The only noise is from aircraft which land or take off just across the road - but we found this a novelty. The rooms are large & spotless being cleaned every day. Air conditioning is 6 euro per day, safety deposit boxes 1.5 euro per day (these are located behind reception). Cooking facilities are limited, but there is a good supermaket (Gregory's) just across the road. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The pool is large & very clean with plenty of sunloungers. There is an excellant snack bar which also serves up ice cold beer! There is no evening entertainment, but you are not far from the strip. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

Thanks for looking after us Harris, Spyro and Phillipos. We always made sure you were our last stop home - it often resulted us staying for one Mythos too many. Good luck with the football - we will follow your results in the Zante Premier League with interest. Say Hi to Georgina - I know she will look after you and keep you under control - someone has too! Yamas!

Red Tail Cafe Bar - (Bars in Kalamaki)

click to enlarge click to enlarge click to enlarge Back for another year, Harris and Spiro made us welcome as soon as we stepped into the bar. This place gets better and better whether for breakfast, evening snack, chilling out on the roof garden or watching sport. Great stuff lads, see you next time.
