Buon Amici - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Unfortunately, I was dissappointed in this restaurant. The reviews had built it up to be something special but the service and the food we received were merely average. I would have expected a little more effort from the staff and the layout of the restaurant was poor. The food was average italian fair and the only really plus point was that it was a nice change from the greek food for a night.

Dias - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

This was the worst meal we had during our two week stay. The food was tasted ok and I must admit that my starter of stuffed tomatoes was excellent, but what is unforgivable is the cold food and lukewarm vegetables that my partner received for his mains. When it was returned to our table after being sent back, it was still only warm at best. Compared to some of the other excellent meals we ate in Kalamaki and beyond, this place was a bit of a disappointment.

Escape - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Really enjoyed our meanl at this little restaurant. It is tucked away from the main street and because of this, has a much more intimate feel than some of the other resort restaurants. It definately felt like a special place to eat. The staff were excellent and very helpful and the greek food was sublime.

Mermaids - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

The food in Mermaids is exceellent, which cannot be denied. I, however found the atmosphere not to be particularly condusice to eating and relaxing. The music was way too loud and at one point, we had to request it was turned down to even hear each other. The tables are packed in too tightly, leaving you with a feeling of being just another table. We were treated to a hypnotists show while we were eating, which would have been okay in a bar but why on earth would you do it in a restaurant. For those that do like this place, I would recommend the stuffed lamb and the prawn saganaki. As I said, the food was good, shame about the rest!

Michaelos - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

We had two fantastic meals at this restaurant and cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff are attentive and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. We had a mixed meze to start that was truly the best we had all holiday, followed by beef stifado ( excellent) and beef youvetsi (rapturous). I would recommend Calliga MonteNero wine if you like red, which has warm plummy notes and goes lovely with beef. If you like the whites then a Solomos dry or medium dry is pretty hard to beat. We liked this place so much that we came here for a romantic last night meal. I loved the fried courgettes and mixed grill that I had. Keep up the excellent work.

Tesoro - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

The food was fine here but I can't say that it shone to the extent of saying it was excellent. Nice restaurant and setting but it is just that...nice not fantastic.

Stani - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Christine R

Had a very nice meal here. Started the greek way with garliuc bread and greek salad...nice to share. My moussaka was lovely and was perfect for the evening meal. The house white wine is also pretty good here, though it is a bit weak. The staff were very nice and made us feel welcome at the greek night they were hosting. I would recommend coming here instead of going to the nights sold by the reps!

Time Out - (Restaurants in Kalamaki)

Christine R  (10 August 2006)

Forget that this place is a fast food restaurant. This is one of the best places to eat in Kalamaki. The staff are absolutely fantastic, the food is always tasty and good and the price is unbelievable for the quality that you receive. My partner and I ate here regularly, particularly the gyros while sharing a greek salad for lunch and I must say that their salad was the best I had during my stay. The friendly welcome and waves we got from the staff, even if we were just passing, made you feel at home in this place and it should be noted that a very LARGE percentage of the local greek population eat here, either as take out or in the restaurant...now that tells you something, doesn't it!
